Surprise!

508 Words
Alice's POV I rub my eyes and flutter them open to see that it's one minute past midnight. I look around my bedroom to see if I can spot my intruder. I'm a wolf and hearing footsteps is what woke me up from my peaceful slumber.  Whoever it is, has just dug their own grave. I'm not afraid of anyone. My father, Alpha Avery, has been training me to fight since I was young. He didn't force me to do so, I had asked him to train with all the warriors. He was hesitant at first, but finally caved since I'm his little girl.  I sniff the air, but whoever it is is blocking their scent to be sneaky. I step quietly out of bed and make my way to where I last heard the footsteps. For some reason, they haven't moved in a minute. Ye, they. I hear two sets of heartbeats. Maybe they are regretting their decision to try and attack me. Oh, well. I'm not backing down a chance to fight. It's my favorite hobby.  I'm standing in front of my walk in closet, one hand on the door knob. The other hand is already in wolf form, claws out and ready to attack. My canines have protruded, but I'm not going to fully shift. Unless it becomes absolutely needed.  I fling the door off the hinges and hear the loudest scream ever. "What the hell do you think you are doing! I could have killed you guys!" I shout at my brother, Noah and sister, Violet.  "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!" They say in sync. A second later, my parents were both in the room. Violet's scream probably scared them. I quickly explain what happened and they look relieved.  Our father scolded the two and then turned his attention to me. "Happy birthday, princess." He kisses my cheek and my mother does the same.  "We just wanted to surprise you. Didn't think you would try to attack us." Noah begins to defend themselves.  "I'm sorry." Violet says to me with sadness in her voice.  I give her a  hug and stare daggers at Noah. I have no doubt in my mind that this was his idea. They are twins, but complete opposites.  "You honestly thought I wouldn't feel threatened by someone sneaking into my room?" I ask sarcastically. My mother interrupts us before we get into a full blown argument.  "Okay, kids. No need to continue this. Let's all go back to sleep. We have a big day ahead of us." She exclaims happily. My mom, Luna Daisy, is talking about my birthday party. Now that I'm 18, I will be able to find my mate. However, I'm not interested in finding him. I feel confident enough to rule this pack alone.  After everyone leaves my room, I find myself thinking about my birthday. What will I do if I find my mate? I can't just reject them. I may not want one, but I won't reject someone just for that reason.  Ugh. This is so frustrating!
