Chapter 2 - Present
"Three FREAKING years! f**k!!! That's as long as our relationship!"
... trust and love were all Cassandra believed they needed to be happy, and it was what she used to have a lot in said man...
So, as anyone could imagine, it was painful for her to think of all the things he had done with the woman she believed to be her friend. Both had fully broken Cassie's trust in them that not even all the drinking she was having could make the woman forget about it.
“I HATE THEM!!!” And like a child, she yelled before starting to cry. It was her fourth and fifth bottle of wine, both open together and turned down on her and Evie’s glasses while profanities were used to call out her ex’s name to all corners of the world, making sure that everyone could hear her in the middle of the night. “I TRULY, TRULY HATE THEM!!!!”
As she leaned on the window, she continued to scream against the vast night before realizing that it was still closed, and just as she was getting it open, Millen arrived back at the apartment.
The man quickly ran to stop her, angry no one had done so, only to turn around and see how their friend was also busy with Evelyn.
… she was fully gone, just like Cassandra…
"STOP, MILLEN! RELEASE ME!" Millen felt lucky for being strong as he kept pulling a struggling Cassie to the couch with him. Dangerous notions were far gone from her mind, and she just wanted to continue what she was doing letting everyone know how big of a cheater Travis was, ignoring even how she was disturbing the neighbors by doing so. "... Millen? MILLEN!!!"
She wanted someone to hear her out, so when she realized that her best friend was the one holding her back, tears filled her eyes as she looked at him, stopping all the struggle to jump into his arms and share more of her despair with him.
"Millen, you need to listen to me! He cheated on me! He dared cheat on me after all I've done for him!" Like Millen hadn't already heard her earlier, Cassandra told him that whole story once again while keeping the habit of calling her ex-fiancé by different bad names… “You know he… he…”
But her limit soon arrived, and when she tried to drink more, her best friend stopped her, taking away the bottle and glasses to pour all the wine down on his sink, while telling her that she had already drunk more than enough for the night.
“Nooo… I didn’t! I can still drink more! MORE!”
Cassandra whined, holding back to Millen’s waist, acting as if she was five years old, and much smaller than her 1, 75 m, almost 5’9” self, making it hard for the man to move away from the sink as he wished to.
So, as his last resource, her best friend tried to distract Cassie, asking what happened as he assumed she would tell him the very same old story, complaining about Travis as she released him.
However, contrary to all of his expectations, it only made Cassandra start to cry all over the place, hugging Millen more tightly as she used his shirt as tissue before falling asleep in his arms…
… Millen could barely get up from the floor with Cassie hanging to him like this. Yet, he couldn't stop his own thoughts from thinking how adorable she looked like this. It was completely different from her usual strong persona…
"Do you need some help with her?"
Ahren offered after putting an also sleeping Evelyn on the couch, brushing away his messed hair from his face as he approached Millen and Cassandra.
“No, it is okay. I can handle her,” but, despite his struggles to get up, the blonde man refused his help, lifting Cassie in his arms like a Princess after he got a better hold of his feet on the ground and her arms away from his waist.
… Honestly, it was the easiest part after he got himself free from her tight embrace…
Millen didn't think much about his following actions as he took Cassandra to his bedroom, displaying no emotions on his face until he put her on his bed, cleaning a final teardrop running down from her eye and a gentle smile adorned his face as he spoke…
“Silly, girl. I told you, he wasn't worthy of you.”
… lips kindly met with her forehead before he quietly left the room.
