Chapter 8 - Cassandra

*Pryce Winsley's POV* --- "Hey, are you ready?" My grinning mate asked me as she held my left hand with her right one, and I took a deep breath and nodded my head in response. "I don't know if I'm nervous or excited, Blair," I uttered and turned my head to look at her pretty face, and the girl chuckled. "Well, I guess you are nercited then." She replied that it made me let out a soft laugh. Yeah, indeed. I closed my eyes, and when I opened them, I found myself standing outside a huge wooden double door. It's Cassie's porch. Damn, I can't imagine what she looks like now, or if she has a family of her own, what her job is, and everything else that I have missed for the last thirty years. That was surely longer than the years that I have lived. And when Blair noticed that I was about to push the doorbell button, she stopped me, and I showed her a look on my face that seemed to say, "What?" "Aren't we supposed to surprise her, babe?" She asked, which made me look at her with my unimpressed face. "Isn't our presence in her front door so early in the morning, and also, knowing that we are alive after thirty years, not enough surprise, Blair?" I told her the obvious, and the red-eyed hybrid shook her head in response. Well, if it's me being visited by someone who just rose from death, I would be so damn surprised and would surely freak out, or I would extremely be happy, especially if it is someone so dear to me. Oh, I am missing my mom so much—also, Dad. I will surely visit him soon. "Why don't we spice it up? Like, you know, Sweetheart, surprise her in an inhuman way. In the supernatural level kind of surprise. Do you know what I mean, Babe?" She replied while wearing an evil smile, and I looked at her weirdly. And the girl just winked at me. Hmm, I guess she is prepared whenever the witch would throw knives at us, or worse, freeze us and send us back to our graves. Damn, I can imagine the scenario. "Alright, impress me," I told her, to which she wiggled her eyebrows in response. This is exactly what happens if you have a freak for a girlfriend and a mate at the same time. It's exciting. After she told me the things that I needed to do for this inhuman act to surprise my best friend, we teleported inside the mansion. Yes, this is her brilliant plan. To creep inside like a damn creep. I just hope that this will end well without blood, fire, lightning, ice swords, water tornados, and other supernatural forces appearing. Damn, we could have just knocked on the door, for our freaking sake. "Wow, look at these things here! Fancy." My amazed mate let out in awe as we stroll into the living room. Then she used her telekinetic witch ability to take the remote from the glass table fronting the couches and turned on the TV without touching anything. "Let's go to the kitchen, Honey-bee. I'm hungry." She uttered and disappeared, and I let out a small sigh and thought of going to the kitchen to follow her. I will just let her lead the way. Well, I am loving this teleporting stuff of being a vampire. It's like you are dreaming. Free transportation, and as quick as a wink, you are already at your destination. Well, I never thought that I could be experiencing what the characters in the fiction books that I have read before can do. It's amazing. "What do they have here? Mmm. Ice creams? Nope. Ice pops? Nah-ah. Ice cubes? What for? She can definitely always make ice. Hmm. Frozen chicken meat and pork. Absolutely not! Let us go to the cooler section. Celery? Carrots? Butter? Eggs? No. Soda? Milk? Mhmm. Apple, Cupcake?" My girlfriend explored every compartment of the fridge and handed me an apple.  "Where is the cupcake, Blair?" I asked her as I took the cold fruit from her hand, yet I tried to look for the sweet she mentioned. That would be nice to eat for energy. And, my mate slowly turned to look at me with her eyes blinking. What is the matter with her? "You do know that you are my Cupcake, Pryce, don't you?" She replied, which made me raise an eyebrow in realization. Hmm. Damn this almost-three-century-old vampire-witch for calling me lots of names. But, honestly, I find it so sweet. I feel like blushing every time she pronounces them, just like the old days. I did miss her calling me those, and here she is again. A smile slowly crept on my face when she gave me a knowing look and was about to lean in to kiss me. Oh, yes, the kiss. Of course! But then I felt a presence of something approaching where we are that made me step back from her to see the creature clearly. Why does everyone love interrupting our intimate moments? "Mommy!!!"  It's a child that screamed at the top of his lungs out of surprise—a little boy.  "Hey there, little guy. What's your name?" Blair greeted and asked the scared child, and he seemed to breathe heavily. Uh-uh.  "You are scaring the child, Blair," I whispered to her, and she looked at me with a troubled face. "Why? Do I look like a... Zombie." She replied, and thankfully, she realized that she is wearing partially burned clothes, and I just nodded my head at her in response. One hundred percent, My Love. And me? I do look like a damn white lady. We are a perfect couple. "Apples. You... You... stole them." He stuttered while pointing at us, and I looked at the fruits that I have in my hold and Blair's. Yeah, we did.  "Blair, I think we better get out of here. There are people coming down the stairs." I told my mate, and she held my free hand, and I noticed that we are here now in the living room. "They are here. I could feel them. I hear them. This is so exciting, don't you think, Baby-blue?" She let out and took a bite of her apple and sat on the couch to watch TV. "Yeah, I hear them, too. It's Alison and Cassie, right?" I replied and sat down beside her, but we turned our heads near the door when we heard a voice. "Mom?" It's a girl who just walked in—a teenager. "What is it, Hon?" It's Cassie. Oh, I missed her voice, even if it was just yesterday that I had heard it. "Who are these people watching TV while eating apples on our couch?" The lovely girl asked and just kept looking at us. And me? I am just smiling at her. My mate? She's just chewing the fruit in her mouth and kept staring back at the girl. We heard footsteps that are coming here from the kitchen. And this is it. I could finally have a glimpse of them again. Then we turned our heads to look at the newcomers. Aww. Alison is carrying the little boy in her arms, and here is my best friend looking like she just saw ghosts. Yes, b***h, we are. "Blair? Pryce?" Cassie muttered in disbelief and gasped when she finally saw us. "Surprise!!!" Blair and I yelled in unison as we had planned, and I guess they were surely surprised. Like, who wouldn't be?
