/Xavier's POV/
"Um, dad....I'm... I'm sorry I didn't know you were there. I'm home." I announced as he kept his eyes fixed on the papers he was reading.
"I realize that." His extremely rough voice had my hair standing on end. That's how I've always been with my dad. No matter how much I tried I just feel I wasn't good enough. He made me feel vulnerable no matter how much I tried to act strong. Though most of the time I challenged him but every time he had always managed to defeat me so I respected him a lot. He raised his head from the papers for the first time while slowly disengaging the legs he had crossed. He closed his papers and took his coffee from the tea set placed on the stool.
"I heard the conference was disrupted because of the death of a minister or senator....whatever." I wondered for a minute if my dad was declaring or asking, but with the looks on his face, I was able to tell it was a question.
"Yeah, they declared a state of emergency as they were looking for the assassin-
"That'll be all I want to know. Just make sure to handle DD investment well. We'll be merging our partnership with Crystal Light. I heard the president died few days ago and his 26year old daughter is taking over Crystal. That's your department I assume you can manage that-
"Xander he just got back, don't burden him with work already, he should have some day off...at least two days." My mom suggested coming down from the dining to the sitting room with a frown as she clean her hands with a napkin which she handed to one of the maids immediately after she was done. My mom was in a white knee-length lace dress, sequined at the neck. She looked sophisticated, she always does as the madam of the house and first Lady of Alexander investments. I smiled at her effort of putting up for me against my father who want nothing but perfection.
"We don't have much time till the company's anniversary. I want the partnership to be done before then so we can announce it as an achievement." My dad defended as my mom gave him a straight look for his pushy attitude.
"Dad the anniversary isn't till 2 months we have enough time-
"You're so confident in convincing Crystal to Marge companies. What makes you think she'll agree?" Dad asked giving me that knowing and skeptical look.
"As you said, it's my department and it'll be best you leave it to me." I smiled and he sighed locking his gaze with me.
"Xavier go refresh. Dinner's almost ready." my mom instructed and I nodded. Before making my way upstairs. My shoes tapped the floor as I made my way to my room. Though I didn't stay there much it was still my room and the place I grow up in. The scent of my orange air refresher hit me the moment I stepped in after passing by my fingerprint security door. I guess mom made sure the maids clean up my room because it was still looking perfectly clean despite being away for a while. My room is a big apartment on its own. As I made my way in I approached my little living room which everywhere was pretty dark until I switched on the light, my room specifically was a touch of black and silver. My sofa was a black leather sofa cabriole with silver tapings at the edges and they were four of them facing and trapping in the middle and against the wall the home theatre which includes a DVD player, 8'6 plasma TV and a stereo. A perfect set of home theatre. On the right, was three steps to my bedroom. My bedroom had a large master bed, located at the center, two winged chairs facing the large transparent window which showed off a great view of the city if the black curtains is pulled aside, and a treadmill at the edge of the steps next to the bathroom door and the door to my closet not far from my bedside table which my bedside lamp rested on. I walked up the two steps that lead to my bedroom to pull aside the curtains to view the setting sun. I moved to my bed which had thick and exotic black covers spread on them. I slowly laid my back on the bed closing my eyes for a brief moment before deciding to visit my bathroom where I needed to wash off the sweats of the day. I stripped down to my briefs and grab my robe moving into the shop's spacious bathroom to do my thing.
My bathroom also follows the trend of my room with a touch of black and silver. The tiles were black but with silver tainting them but every other thing in it was silver coated. I moved into the shower cubicle and to run the cold water down my body. Closing my eyes for a minute I imagined Casey helping with scrubbing my back while she run her small but strong hands down my back. I groaned in discomfort as I felt myself hardening at the image. I opened my eyes and tried to rid myself of her picture which had been fixed in my memory. I turned off the shower and made my way out of the cubicle grabbing a towel outside. I grabbed one of the wash clothes to dry my hair before moving out of the bathroom. I heard a gasp immediately I was walking towards the bed. It was our head maid Annette, the 27year old strawberry blonde girl who thought she could resist me.
Annette Mcgraw is a young, confident, and beautiful woman with long strawberry hair with fringes. She had honey eyes, very befitting to her tone and hair color. She was hardcore, not that I care because I don't do maids. Though I was a playboy, I have standards. I don't get down with just anyone, she has to be beautiful or elegant, most of the time both. Sexy is also part of the quality. Apparently, Annette is a graduate, an intelligent woman who was certified in home management but unfortunately finding a job is very difficult, she had no choice but to grab the available and besides working in the Alexander mansion really pays off. Annette was mom's favorite because she seems to be able to resist me compare to all the other maids who would like to get down to things. But suddenly things changed last year when I saved her from drowning in the pool, it seems I'd broken down her walls with it, she stopped giving me the emotionless look, she started giving me a coy look and would blush so frequently when I'm around her. She was quite tempting really.
"What are you doing here?" I asked moving to my closet to grab few clothes. I reappeared in my bedroom with my clothes which I dumped on the bed only to see Annette still standing in the middle of my room looking anxious and nervous. My eyes moved down to my traveling box in her hand.
"Are you bringing that here or just wanna stand there and stare?" that got her. Blood rushed into her cheeks on my statement and I saw her ear reddened. I would have given her what she wants right there but, I've got someone else in my mind, the only person I want to have right now isn't here. Annette struggled to get the box up the two stairs as it seems she hooked the wheels at the edge of the second stair. I exhaled loudly before moving to help her with it. Her breath hitched immediately I was close. She was making it so obvious and it starting to make me uncomfortable. I smiled as I took the box from her and moved it to my bed. I had a feeling she was staring at me, my butt to be precise.
"Do you have any other thing to do for me?" I asked as I abruptly turn to face her.
"No...no..I'm just heading...out" she stuttered before walking down the stairs and moving to the door. I moved into my closet to put on my underwear and my eyes fell on my empty watch rack. It used to be filled with watches because I moved. Speaking of the watch where is my silver Rolex? I asked myself moving back into my bedroom after checking my wrist to realize it was gone.
"Where could I have kept it?" I muttered the question to myself as I moved to check my box but it wasn't there. It must have fallen back at the hotel. It was my favorite watch and mom would be pretty upset if she realize I'd lost it, she gave it to me on my 28th birthday. I sighed and got into my selected dress of jersey shirt and slacks.
"Young master-
"I told you not to call me that." I abruptly turned to Annette who had reapproached my room after I was done dressing.
"Sorry, I just...still haven't gotten used to calling you by your name. Your mom wants you downstairs for dinner." He
informed me as I moved down the stairs.
"Okay, I'll be right behind you," I told her before she finally exited my room. I stroll downstairs and to the dining room to see everyone seated in. I pulled back a chair next to Emily who seem to have had a change of clothes, she was no longer in the chocolate short gown she was in but now in a strip of a black and white jumpsuit. Just the very short one. I tear my eyes from her to the food on the table so I could set for dinner, my mom helped dish my spaghetti but did something that had me shutting my eyes in distaste.
"Mom, why do you keep forgetting? Xav doesn't like egg yolks." Emily reminded my mom as she started to garnish my food with half-cut eggs.
"Oh sorry, it kept slipping my mind." My mom said removing the egg yolks from the eggs after removing them from my food. She knows a little drop into my food could ruin my appetite.
"Hello Everybody!" I know that voice. I thought as I slowly turned up my head to see my best friend Austin walked in.
"Aunt Em." He cooed moving to wrap his hands around my mom.
"Uncle." He merely grinned at my dad before pulling a seat next to my mom and the maid standing close to the kitchen quickly did the honor of dishing his meal.
"Aunt Em, could you believe Xav didn't call me when he landed?" He asked and I frowned suddenly feeling guilty for not telling him I was back in Los Angeles.
"Xav really? You know this sweet boy here is sensitive?" My mom's tendency to make my hair tingle worries me. Calling Austin a sweet boy gave me a grumpy feeling.
"I totally forgot-
" Of course, you'd forget, that's just you Xav." he retorted before bringing his fork into his meals. I could tell he was upset but I pinpointed something. Emily wasn't greeting him and he wasn't greeting Emily. They weren't throwing jokes at each other. Emily met my eyes as I studied the two of them while Austin eats.
"So how's work going Austin and I've you managed to convince the girl?" Emily's sudden statement took Austin by Suprise and his eye widened but when their eyes met, Austin slowly turned to me. Are those too having a silent conversation or what? I wondered.
"The girl?" my mom asked as she poured herself some juice.
"Another girl broke up with him, mom." Emily let out a guffaw after her statement and my mom turned to give Austin a sympathic look.
"I'm afraid you all have a habit of talking by the dining table." My dad commented and his eyes met with my mom's.
"Don't be ridiculous honey, it's the only place we get to know our children." my mom pointed and I nodded in agreement. We were always busy during the day and the dining table is the only place we actually get to talk.
"So Austin what about this girl-
"Can I not talk about it, aunt Em? It's still a sore spot." Austin sounded hurt and I sighed. I hate just what girls do to him. It made me mad. After Austin's statement, the rest of our time at the dining table was in silence. Though my mom and Austin exchanged compliments once in a while.
"Austin?" I called as he tried to leave after dinner.
"What?" his reply was kinda cold after he turned to me.
"Look I'm sorry I didn't tell you I was in Los but trust me I was gonna tell you." I defended and he sighed.
"Do you mind if we hit the bar tonight, make it up to me, I really need a drink tonight." he looked grim as he talk. I sighed and I nodded.
"I'll just go grab my car keys." I mused before venturing upstairs to grab my keys but made sure to decide to change my pants into casual jeans. Austin was waiting for me when I get back so we just headed to the garage after I informed my mom we'd be going out for a moment.
I picked on my red sports car and hit the road of Los Angeles heading to my favorite bar.
"Is something wrong between you and Emily?" my question had Austin abruptly turning at me with furrowed brows.
/Tracy's POV/
We arrived in Denver feeling a little exhausted. But we were okay so we just got into the black pickup SUV we ordered to go home. We separated ways with Chris at the airport so Tracy and I were the only ones to return to the house. But the itchy feelings I got immediately after we moved into the gates made me worry. I could sense we were being watched though Stacy wouldn't really believe me if I told her, she always believes everything I said but she doesn't trust on my martial arts instincts. She always thinks it's impossible to sense danger from afar after your martial abilities peaked.
"Stacy?" I called as she got down and moved to the back of the car to help us get our stuff.
"Yeah" she replied and I paused for a minute.
"You don't sense anything?" I asked her and she instantly furrowed her brows after waving bye to the pick-up SUV.
"Sense what?" she asked taking the two traveling boxes in her hand as we head in while I walked freely behind her.
"Like something is wrong or something-
"Did those people see you Tracy?" she asked after we got to the front door.
"No, of course not," I replied with a smile.
"What sensing then-
"It's just a feeling," I replied while she punch in the password.
"I don't sense anything." She replied plainly and I smiled in return while we move into the house. I switched on the lights and Stacy moved to jump on the couch leaving behind the boxes.
"I'm so exhausted." she groaned and I scoffed moving the box up the stairs to the bedroom. I stripped moving into the shower to get soaked and when I got downstairs Stacy was in the kitchen. I smiled because cooking was Stacy's expertise. I was not really a good cook. I could manage few recipes but the complicated ones always make me wanna burn down the house.
"What's for dinner?" I asked as I approached her in the kitchen.
"I'm making pasta, fished, and tossed salad...it's the fastest I can make for tonight. We'll eat something more-
"That's the fastest you can make. Well, noodles are the fastest I can make." I heard her laugh as I stylishly complimented her.
"it'll be ready in a minute. The pasta is already done and the fish is almost. Just tossing the veggies." she informed and I nodded joining her in the kitchen.
"I can manage the salad. Go freshen up but make sure to take care of the fish. I don't want it burning." I rolled my eyes at my statement and she chuckled setting the cooked fish on the plate.
"Help garnish it please." she requested and I nodded before she moved upstairs. I had set the tank before she reappeared with a baggy dress shirt and shorts with her hair packed up in a bun. She looked like a housewife to me with that style.
"What's it with you and baggy?" I asked as her slender body was engulfed in the baggy shirt she wore.
"Well-
"Let me answer that for you, it makes you comfortable," I asked, and shrugged her shoulders making me scoff before taking my seat at the dining table. Tracy picked a fork and was about dig in when she frowned. She turned her head to the back and slowly turned back to me while I rolled my pasta on my fork.
"Is something wrong?" I asked as she stood and headed towards the fridge.
"Did you hear something?" she asked as she brought out the juice jug from the fridge.
"No, did you hear something?" I asked while she put down the jug in the middle of the dining table before moving to the kitchen probably to get the glass and like I thought she reappeared with two Collins cups.
"I don't know I just think I heard something." She shrugged pouring the juice into the cups before sitting back in her chair.
"I've been feeling like someone's watching too," I revealed and she raised her head from her food to me.
"Let's be vigilant," she muttered before we continue eating. I packed the plates while she do the dishes. We retired to the bedroom afterwards. I moved to my bed and she moved to hers before we switches off the general light and turn on our bedside lamp. I don't know but I was feeling quite uneasy so I couldn't sleep through my eyes were still closed. I have flustered my eyes opened immediately I heard a whistling sound which accompany a knife cutting through the air. But it was Stacy who threw. I switched the light back on to see a lady with a mask on standing in front of our bed with her head tilted sideways and I saw Stacy's knife right in the wall behind her. I guess she dodged the knife. Her head slowly straightened and I slowly moved my hand to the side of my bed. Stacy and I briskly rolled down the bed with our blades in our hands immediately the lady moved a step closer. Our faces turned cold and our gaze turned fierce as we watched her. She moved her hand to her back to remove two swords from her back. It made me smirk.
