/Stacy's POV/
I've been quite nervous since I picked on the strange sound which I didn't quite know where it came from and when my sister told me about what she felt, it kinda irked my suspicion that someone was in the house. I sighed and lay back on my bed after turning on my bedside lamp. I was actually falling asleep when my hair caught on the door opening. It was forced opened with skill because we had it locked already. Definitely, the person opening the door was extremely skilled, I quietly removed the dagger from my pillow and threw it with my eyes close because it was dark so focusing on the image would only make me miss the target so I had to close my eyes to use my other senses like hearing to aim the target. Tracy woke up at that and immediately switched on the lights. I realized the target dodged my dagger when I saw her still standing with her head tilted sideways. Next, I know I was rolling out of bed with Tracy with my sword which I had managed to retrieve from the side of my bed. I raised the sword vertically wrapping both my hands at the shaft. My sister got her sword in the same position as me. One thing I envied about Tracy was...she was faster and very strategic. I didn't realize she had her dagger hidden until I attacked the intruder and next was her dagger whistling his way to me and the intruder as we clashed swords knowing that I got out of the way, the intruder found out too late and the dagger gives her a slight cut by the neck as she moved out of the way. Tracy decided to attack just then as the intruder dropped one of her swords to hold on to her neck. It was a stupid effort to fight Tracy with one hand, the intruder ended up losing two fingers in the act.
"That's enough!" The voice sounded familiar as we already moved the fight to the patio in front of our bedroom. There were three bean sofas on the platform and a huge TV screen on the pillar that separated the two windows in front of the platform. The patio led down the stairs. It was a roof to our workout area.
"I see your skills haven't rusted...yet." the voice came yet again.
"Briana!" Tracy and I voiced almost the same time.
"What do you want?" I didn't mean to ask the same question with Tracy at the same time but I felt good about it.
"Oh, and still alike as always. I'm impressed." Briana was talking from downstairs, legs crossed on each other with confidence. Stacy and I jumped from the patio and landed softly on the floor in front of our workout area. Briana's presence disgusts me to the core. She was a skilled assassin like us back at the academy, she was heartless and brutal. Just like us she was a twin and had a twin brother called Brian, unfortunately for her, she killed her own twin. One of the reasons she hated us. We were pardoned from killing each other by our master but she was too eager to prove herself before us. Family actually does not survive in the academy,
"I thought we just asked you what you want," I stated and she chuckled.
"Just brought a message." she smiled standing to face us before her eyes fell on the girl she'd sent to kill us perhaps.
"I see you've met my apprentice. Hope she doesn't give you so much trouble. Just asked him to wake you up in a proper way-
"How did you even find us?" I asked with a frown as Tracy continue studying our old enemy. Briana was our only worthy competitor back at the academy. She was no match for Tracy but me, we were always a tie. We would fight until we both ran out of strength. Briana Keith is an age mate, a training mate, and a rival who would stop at nothing to prove she's better than us. At least
because she'd never been a match for Tracy, none of us was and it hurts her greatly that she couldn't compare herself to either of us. Briana used to have black hair but she had dyed it dirty blonde. Looks great on her by the way. I smirked at my sarcasm. She had a emerald contacts on to fit the leather fitted clothes she had on, a perfect human tree. I couldn't help the laugh that slipped out of my mouth at the thought. Attention all turned to me at that.
"Is something funny Stacy or Tracy?" She asked and I smiled.
"Sorry, It was just funny how you have an obvious resemblance with a tree, no offense...I mean the clothes the boots and the contacts. Even the gloves, Is today green day?" I asked as her frown deepens. Tracy wasn't much of a laugher, she had always been like that, very cold but this time she softly chuckled.
"Besides I'm Stacy-
"I realized that." of course she'll realize, Tracy, don't joke to anyone except me. Not even Chris.
"you said you've got a message, what is that?" Tracy asked face cold again. I wonder how she does that.
"The league sent me to warn you of your actions that have been having an adverse effect on us. Also, you were sent for-
"Why would they want us?" Tracy asked and Briana gave her a skeptical look.
"I was still talking." She stated keeping a cold face to match my sister's.
"From now on they want you to take jobs assigned only by them-
"Unfortunately we bought our freedom a long time ago-
"Why do you have a habit of cutting in whenever I'm talking?-
"You're too slow." Brian's face dropped at that. That's a good one sis, I stifled my laugh as I watch the annoyed look when on Briana's face.
"Are you saying you want to cut ties with the league? You were born and trained to be a league-
"Hold on pissy, we weren't born to be a league assassin. Just trained and we aren't cutting ties. If they need us, they know how to find us but taking jobs assigned by only them, we bought that freedom a long time ago. The league problem is our problem but they do not control our freedom." I sharply cut in.
"You have just one month to show up at the headquarters. If you don't show up in a month, we'll take it as you're cutting ties with the League. And you know what happens to ex-league. You wouldn't want me to tell you, would you? It's been nice seeing you again girls." Briana said turning her back to leave with her handicapped apprentice.
"Like seriously, are they kidding? What is wrong with them? We bought our freedom years ago why do they want us back now?" I raved immediately after Briana left with her apprentice which had stained our floors with her blood-dripping hand. If Briana did not treat that hand and neck, I fear the girl wouldn't make it. She'd been seriously injured. Despite my complaints, Tracy was silent instead she starts to examine the house. She moved to the weapons room and reappeared with a gun. I was shocked when she shot down the wall clock.
"They've been here before. They've been watching us since we got back." Tracy explained before moving to the kitchen to shoot down the toaster machine.
"A camera couldn't be in the toaster Tracy?" I complained as the toaster shattered into pieces.
"A listening device could." That was all Tracy told me before she continue shooting objects everywhere in the house. Then she moved to our balcony and shoot the bird on the tree. She was really overacting.
"Now that's a hell of shopping." I breathed to see most of the gadgets in pieces.
"We're leaving anyway. We'll leave tomorrow. I don't feel safe here anymore. We'll make sure to finish this nonsense before one month. We can't go against the league except we are ready to disappear." Tracy and I have talking terms. She knew saying we should be ready to vanish out of the league's sight before going against them could be dangerous especially when we don't know if we are watched, so her statement could be taken as 'the league could make us disappear if we try to go against them. I shook my head sighing in exasperation before heading back to bed because I was exhausted already. Though I still had a hard time sleeping but I slept anyway. Tracy was already awake when I woke up and she was packing both my clothes and hers.
"Isn't it too early for that?" I yawned turning to her as she continue to arrange our clothes in our twin boxes with our closet wide open.
"The faster we leave this place the safer." She replied and I yawned feeling sleepy again. But I knew Tracy wouldn't like me going back to bed though she won't wake me but she's gonna complain like hell.
"What about Chris?" I asked trying to act awake.
"He should be on his way by now texted him a while ago. He'll handle the moving of the office container. It'll be ready immediately after we landed in Los. Now stand and get dress. "She instructed directing my gaze to the clothes she had set for me on her bed. I groaned tiredly before standing. The only office is where the investigation and weapons are. To avoid causing trouble or suspicion anytime we move we bought a large container, extremely thick which could fit into a building. The office itself is the container. It's the one divided into sections so when moving. We only have to break down the walls to move it in but we do not have to break the walls again when moving it in. The broken down walls when we moved in are made into a gate which would be used to move it out again. And Chris knows just how to monitor the container during international trips. No one would know it contained weapons. Not even the machines would detect it with Chris's skills.
"Hey ladies." Chris greeted moving in before his eyes fell on the broken objects.
"What the hell happened here?" Chris couldn't help asking as his eyes nervously scanned the area while my sister and I moved down the stairs.
"It's a long story, just one thing. We have to get out of here. I might have gotten rid of some bugs. I can't be sure there isn't more still on the house." Tracy replied before she lead while we followed her out. Tracy and I were in a wine leather jacket with a black elastic top underneath it and black stirrups and black heels. Tracy's idea of clothes, not mine. I sighed heavily as we moved to Chris's car. Ours would be coming together with the container. Chris had arranged for its movement. It's time for Los Angeles to receive us I guess.
/Xavier's POV/
"Trust me Xav, she just showed up at my door drunk after she had a big fight with her boyfriend. She said he slapped her or something-" Austin immediately moved her hand to his mouth at that because I abruptly pulled the car to a stop at the mention of my sister being slapped.
"You said what!?" I asked looking at my best friend in disbelief while furrowing my brows holding unto the probability that I might actually I've heard wrong.
"Um... Nothing, Nothing." Austin stuttered letting his nervousness take the best of him.
"You know how I am when I'm mad Austin." I gave him a mischievous smile and he groaned.
"She pleaded for me not to tell you, she said not to do anything either. I was gonna go meet the guy because she had a bruise on her face but she wouldn't let me." Austin explained while I took out my phone and check Emily's profile on social pages. The guy was basically everywhere. Why do this two have bad luck with love? I wondered as my anger continue to boil, getting ready to explode me any minute.
"Xav?" Austin called me but I was quite busy trying to get the bastard's address. He dares to lay a finger on my sister. I was gonna make him regret that. All of a sudden I swerve the car around after getting the ill-bred.
"Xav please don't!" Austin pleaded but I was too clouded by my anger. Allen Smith, I can't believe my sister is dating that nut-case, ever since I beat her boyfriend 3years ago for ruining her first car, she'd asked me to stay out of her business since then but this time one...I can't sit and watch!
"Xav please." Austin continues to beg me as I increase the speed of my car whizzing past the other cars until I'm parking in front of Allen's Smith apartments. I step out of the car with Austin who wouldn't stop begging me to turn back.
"You can't do this to Emily Xav, she still loves the guy." Austin persuaded me but I merely scoff.
"She still loves the dude who definitely did not deserve her. I'm gonna ask you Austin if it was Roxy in these shoes what would you do?" I said gritting my teeth harshly as I pointed to his chest with my index finger while trying to control my anger. He relaxed to my question and heaved a heavy sigh. Of course, he should relax, Roxy was his 12year old younger sister, and I could tell he was angry at the image of having his own sister appear to him with a bruise on her face by an i***t of a boyfriend.
"I would break his legs and pay for the hospital bills." His face turned cold as his frown deepens.
"And that's exactly what I'm gonna do." I gave him a smirky smile before turning only to meet the i***t I came looking for approaching with some friends laughing and chatting as he approached the apartment building. He had some gut I see. I slowly kept my hands in my pocket and let the Allen guy move closer. He was a sandy blonde dude, couldn't be more than 19, or 20 at most. I guessed and the group of friends stopped in front as we were at the building doorway.
"Do you mind dude, we are trying to go in here?" Allen asked after climbing up the stairs to see me staying right at the entrance.
"Allen, do you mind if we talk-
"How do you know my name?" he asked his face narrowed at me in question. Qualities of a bad boyfriend, he doesn't even know the brother of his girlfriend. He really doesn't deserve Emily. I bottled my temper and smiled at him.
"I would introduce myself later but now you have to come with me." I didn't mean to sound commanding but the anger was starting to get at me and it was frustrating.
"I'm not going anywhere with you men, so, please...leave I wanna-" that's it. I thought. I was trying to save his honour by not disgracing him in front of his friends but he looks like he doesn't want it. I landed him a punch in the face and he stumbled down the stairs while I push past his friends to grab him up by the collar.
"It's sad you don't even know your girlfriend's brother. That hurts really." I frowned landing him another punch in the face.
"I would have to treat your ass with some men but you're just too young to be beaten to a pulp, that's why I'm gonna treat your ass myself." I gritted harshly beating him until I broke his hand and had him begging for mercy while his friends watch.
"Get him into the car Austin. And boys, it's nice meeting you. Sorry I didn't introduce myself-
" We know who you are, we've seen you on the commercials. You're the CEO of Alexander's investment." one of the boys stuttered and I grinned watching Austin put the boy in the car.
"I'm glad you do. Do you mind keeping this to yourself? It'll be bad if I have to put you all in his condition-
"I'm not afraid of you." The guy with the curly hair spoke. He had a glass on, and look nerdic.
"Don't you have a family?" That got him.
"Let's cooperate shall we? I'm sure you'd do the same in my shoes. If your sister showed up at home with bruises beaten by her boyfriend, I'm certain you'd want to have the guy killed. But I didn't instead I taught him a lesson and now I'm going to drop him at the hospital and pay his bills. You could come along if you want." I smiled and the teenagers exchanged looks.
"I'm dropping him off at the first hospital I meet on my way out of here so you guys could come to visit." I grinned saluting and moving to my car.
"You are dramatic," Austin commented as I joined him in the car. I briefly glanced back to see a groaning and wincing Allen. Didn't mean to ruin his handsome face but he touched my sister's pretty one first. I arrived at a Medley private hospital which was not far from his apartment and parked. I took the boy gently by the arm and led him into the hospital. One of the nurses ran to aid him.
"Got into a fight with an older man. He was terribly beaten. Please help him." I told the nurse and she led him away to get treated. I moved over to the billing area where I paid his bills and left extra so he could take a taxi home once he was done. I turned to see someone I really wasn't expecting to see.
"Crystal?" I called the lady walking into the hospital with elegance. She was in a velvet halter dress with a black open-toe heel with a black purse to match. Her jet-black hair was pulled up sideways by hairpins while the rest flow behind her back while some rested on her shoulder. She had a teardrop velvet stone earring on to match her dress, her make-up was perfect, very light with a red lipstick on. God, she's pretty.
"She's perfect." Austin who was beside me exclaimed as he watch Crystal approach us with a grin on her face. We attend the same school actually. She used to be a silly junior crushing on her senior. Which is me, I recalled she confessed to me back then but I had a girlfriend, and didn't have a choice but to reject her. Now I'm badly regretting it.
"Xavier, oh God is that you what are you doing here?" She looked excited. That's good I guess.
"Brought my sister's boyfriend, got into a fight with an older man, didn't do him good. What about you? What are you doing here?" I asked and she smiled.
"Well, a friend of my cousin called me, told me my cousin got beaten up by her girlfriend's brother or something, I wonder what the boy got himself to this time?" Crystal brows furrowed as I froze in place on hearing that. Austin and I met each other's gaze and gulped in nervousness. Austin is a director for my dad's company and I was certain he knew about our plan to Marge company with Crystal. This is not gonna go well!
