Dragon Born

Brighid* The sound of songbirds wakes me from my slumber. Stretching out my arms and legs to prepare for a new day. The realization hits me that I am not alone as I hear a yawn from below the tree. If only all the previous events had been a bad dream. The sky is a lovely blue as the few leaves left in the trees sway slightly with the light breeze. Sitting up, I quickly shook out my cloak, tied it to my neck and prepared to make my way to the forest floor. No time like the present to just get this awkward morning over with. As my feet hit the solid ground, Ler quickly gets to his feet to greet me. "Good morning, I take it you sleep well?" Ler was dusting himself off all the while keeping his eyes on me. "Good morning Ler. As well as can be expected. How did you sleep, not what you're use to, I am assuming?" Ler took in a deep breath and released it. "Are you ready to get on our way? Or would you like some breakfast first?" "Not really one for breakfast. I'm more of a coffee and go type. However, if you want to eat, we can make time." His laughter catches me off guard as he shakes his head. "No rush to get where we are going, I take it. My village is a lovely place if you love the sea, that is. We live off the land mostly, so hopefully you're a fan of seafood. There is so much to learn about one another little lass. If we get hungry along the way, we can stop for a bit to eat. I am sure we can find something accommodating down the road." He gently takes my hand and begins to lead the way out of the forest. His steps aren't anywhere near as quick as they seemed last night. However, his hands are still just as warm and I feel tingles where our skin is touching. There are birds singing and I can hear small creatures beginning to stir, who are no doubt looking for their first meal. Autumn winds are lightly caressing me as I ponder how on Earth this man can be so calm given his current predicament. Would I be so calm about being forced into a bond with a stranger? Given my hot temper at things I can't control, I very much doubt it. We have made our way to the clearing just beyond the forest. Ler releases my hand and i feel* a ting of sandiness at the loss of his hand. He turned to face me with those haunting eyes dancing with mischief. "Never seen a dragon before, lass, this will be fun. Please stay right here for me." Ler started to jog away from me. He stops further out in the clearing. Even from this distance, I can hear the cracking of bones. The shift of his human form into his dragon sounds horrific and I cringe in place. Golden eyes take over and burn into my soul. The skin is transformed before my eyes into turquoise scales. Wyre towers over me in all his glory, making a giraffe look like a horse in comparison. He spreads out his wings which shimmer in the morning sun's glow, making the turquoise take on an almost green hue. Wyre lowers his head just enough that our foreheads touch. Surprisingly, his scales are not cold but rather warm. "Can you hear me, my little agra?" Wyre* I watch in delight as my little agra seems astonished. She has the most animated expressions I have ever seen before. It has been a long time since I saw anyone, so ahh struck by seeing my transformation. "Can you hear me, my little agra?" I repeated. "Yes, how is it possible to communicate telepathically?" Brighid couldn't hide her excitement from me. "Little Agra we are one, you and I. Dragons can communicate this way with each other and a special few. You're special to us. Are you ready to soar among the clouds?" Brighid took in a big breath before speaking out loud. "What do I need to do? How do I not hurt you?" "When I kneel down, climb up to my midback. You can hold on to my hair for support as if they are reins. You did say you had ridden a horse before. It is the same only on a larger scale." Slowly, I lower myself to the ground, allowing my knees to bend. They will make stepping up easier for my Brighid. She stalls only for a split second and then transcends carefully to the step stool I have made her. Just as gracefully as she climbed the trees last night, she is working her way up to my mid back. She takes hold of my mane and breaths in deep. "Ok Wyre I think I am ready." Carefully, I get up to prepare to take flight. Wanting nothing more than to make this the best experience possible for my little agra. I gently take off into the sky. Slowly more like a butterfly, then a dragon. Being very mindful of the lovely Brighid I have upon my back. I feel her release her breath as soon as we are high up and she is for the most part, level. "Are you ok with flying over the water? There is a longer way to get where we are going if not." Brighid hesitates most likely due to the fact telepathic communication is new to her. "Falling into water would probably hurt way less then hitting land, I suppose." I released a small chuckle. "You will not be falling onto either my agra. Not while it is my job to watch over you." Her smell is intoxicating, even with the breeze bringing me the delightful smell of the ocean. Faite is a funny mistress. Indeed, there will be a lot to explain upon my return. Maybe my mother will be delighted to see me finally willing to try and settle down some. Even if the circumstances were out of my hands. There is no doubt in my mind that she has already been well informed and will be awaiting my arrival. Hope your fierce personality can handle a horde of dragons little Brighid.
