Chapter 9: Sabina's P.O.V.

2143 Words
This is so weird. When I asked Alessio if he minded that we study in the campus library with a friend of mine, he seemed slightly disappointed at first. Then he perked right up, and told me it would be okay. Now I'm waiting in the library for both of them. Alessio texted me, and said that he was grabbing the three of us some drinks and snacks. Ronan texted me telling me he was running behind. I have no idea why, but I feel so nervous. It feels like I'm doing something wrong. Like I'm lying or something. I mean, it's going to be weird if Alessio suspects something is going on between Ronan and me. Because of his clear interest in me. But it's okay, because there is nothing going on between Ronan and me. Right? And Ronan.. Will he feel some kind of way if he finds out that I'm going to the beach party with Alessio? It's not that big of a deal to him, right? I'm being silly. Neither of these guys cares all that much about me. They both asked me out recently, but it's not that big of a deal. I think Ronan only did it because Cindy was being a bi.tch anyway. I just need to relax. My phone vibrated on the table. I pulled it out to see a text from Alessio. Weirdo: Hey cutie, I don't think I'm going to make it. Something came up. I frowned. He's.. not coming. Me: Is everything okay? His reply came almost immediately. Weirdo: Yeah, don't you worry about it, angel. I feel bad that I'm ditching you though. I smiled. Me: Don't feel bad, things happen. I chewed on my bottom lip as I thought about saying something else. Me: It does suck that I won't get to see you today though. Wow, I can't believe I said that. Weirdo: Oh, don't you worry your pretty little head. We can make time for each other. Call me as soon as you're done. Me: Okay. (: Weirdo: Have fun cutie. I set my phone down. It's been a really long time since I've gotten butterflies like this. Has that weirdo already gotten under my skin? "What has you so smiley?" Ronan asked as he set down a plastic bag full of drinks. "Oh hey." I said. "Hey, sorry I'm late. I ran into some creep outside." He told me. "A creep?" I asked. "Yeah, just some guy that doesn't belong here," Ronan said. "Doesn't belong here? Like a ra.pist or something?" I asked, worried. Ronan laughed. "No, he's just.. not a good guy. He's visiting here, but I don't like him. I told him to get lost." He said. "Oh, okay." I replied. "Where's Nick?" Ronan asked. "Nick? Oh, uh, not coming." I said. Kind of pointless to tell him about Alessio now. I'm not.. not telling Ronan because I'm nervous or anything. That would be silly. What do I have to be nervous about? Ronan scooched his chair closer to me. He pulled his books closer, and leaned in. My face heated at his proximity. Ronan's never gotten this close to me before. I tried to focus on studying with him instead of everything else. I pulled my flash cards out, and turned to Ronan. Usually, when we study, we do it this way. "Alright, so this is for our Philosophy class together. Ready?" I asked. Ronan nodded. He turned in his chair, and leaned in even closer to me. I held the flash cards to my chest as I gave him a fake gasp. "Are you getting closer to try to cheat?" I asked teasingly. Ronan chuckled. "Nope. That is most definitely not why I keep getting closer," he replied. My face heated at the look he was giving me. I was just about to ignore his tone, when his chair suddenly moved back. Ronan gave me a confused look. I matched it. What's he confused about? Then Ronan's chair moved back again. This time it was much harder, and further. Putting him further than his chair was before he sat down. Ronan looked behind him confused. When he looked at me again, I raised a brow at him. "You okay?" I asked. "Uh, yeah, fine." He said with a forced smile. "Okayyy..? Well, you ready now?" I asked. Ronan grabbed his chair, and pulled it closer to me again. This time, it moved right back to where it was immediately. Is Ronan doing this? I mean, who else would it be? "You feeling alright, Ro?" I asked him. Ronan smiled at me. "Yeah, I.. Think there might be something wrong with this chair." He said with a laugh. "Right.. Well, if you're ready..?" I asked. "Yeah, go ahead." He replied. For the next two hours, Ronan and I studied. Or well, tried to. Weird things happened the entire time that made it almost impossible to focus. Firstly, the chair thing kept happening. Ronan even moved chairs, but every time he tried to get closer to me, he moved away. I really didn't understand why he was doing this. Another weird thing was when Ronan tried to lay his arm on the back of my chair. He tried several times, and it was like... Like he was struggling or something. It was like someone was trying to make him stop. And then the strangest of all things happened. Ronan was trying to ask me something about our surfing lessons when his shirt burst into flames. Just when I was about to freak out, the flames disappeared. Leaving Ronan looking like he had just stepped out of a fire. "I'm so lost." I mumbled to myself as I sat back in my chair. "This is un-fu.cking-believable." Ronan muttered. "I don't understand what's going on," I said. Ronan looked up at my confused expression. The anger quickly left his face. Then he plastered on a fake smile. "Hey, have you heard the rumors that this library is haunted?" He asked. **************************************************** Alessio's P.O.V. **************************************************** Haunted? Really? That's what he's going to tell her? Well, it's not like we gave him much of a choice. Tull said. I guess that's true. I replied, smirking. I ran into Ronan right outside the library. We both arrived at the same time. And we both knew what the other was. My family is well known. This Merman might not have known exactly who I was, but he could sense I was powerful right away. Plus, they were warned that a Morningstar was coming here. So, it was easy for this guy to guess who I was. There are many supernatural creatures out there who don't like my family. Hell, more people hate us than like us. Even at Anderson it was like that. Mermaids and Sirens are slightly different though. They usually keep to themselves. None even attended Anderson before. They stay close to the ocean if they even stay on land. And they keep to their pods. Which means that they hate my family even more than most supernaturals. Whatever though. People hate what they fear, and I can't blame them. I mean, look at my older siblings. I'm number 11, they've paved this fu.cked up road. I have no choice but to follow. Still, I wasn't expecting a Merfolk to take some kind of claim over my mate. When Ronan first saw me outside, he glared at me, looked at the bag in my hands, and told me to get lost. I did try to argue with him. To which Ronan said, "You were told to stay out of our way". What a douche. Unfortunately, I was in no position to refuse. Sabina has no idea we're mates. I'm not sure that I wanted to broadcast that information to someone I don't know. Someone who has a clear disdain for me. Imagine my surprise when I used my darkness to sneak in, and found that Ronana was the friend my girl was studying with. And imagine my annoyance to find the piece of scum flirting with what's mine. I don't care how crazy the situation seemed, or how looney Ronan looked. I pulled his chair, moved his arm, flicked his forehead. Anything and everything I could do to keep a distance between the two of them. Ronan was clearly confused. Sabina was clearly confused. I was having a fu.cking field day. Now Ronan's trying to convince Sabina that this library is haunted. "Should we go somewhere else then? We can go back to my place, or yours?" Ronan asked Sabina. My blood boiled. I will follow them wherever they go. No way in hell is this dipwad ever going to know my mate intimately. "Uhm, actually, I promised that I would meet up with someone after this," Sabina said shyly. My heart soared. "Ah, the same guy that you're ditching me for this weekend?" Ronan teased her. The dipwad reached up to touch Sabina's cheek, and I slapped his hand away. He looked confused for a moment, but covered it up quickly. "Well, I'm not ditching you. He asked first, that's all. But yes, I am going to see him." She admitted. That's right fu.ck face. "You're going to hang out with him this late?" Ronan asked her. "It's not even 8 o'clock yet," Sabina said flatly. "Yeah, but.." Ronan trailed off. I knocked his books off of the table. Ronan groaned, and started to pick everything up. Sabina looked at him confused, and then looked around. I stepped behind her, and brought my lips to her ear. "Sabbiinnnaa..." I sang lowly. Sabina's heart rate spiked. She jumped, and turned in her seat. My girl's eyes connected with mine. For a second, I really thought she saw me, but then she shook her head, and turned back around in her seat. I chuckled, and bent down to sniff her hair. Teasing her like this could be fun for a while. Sleeping in her bed with her last night was nice. For someone who couldn't see me, she sure cuddled me close all night. "Sabinaa.." I whispered in her ear. Sabina went stiff as a bored. I moved my nose along her neck slowly. Goosebumps rose across her skin. "So.. se.xy.." I whispered. I ran my lips across her neck gently. Sabina's eyes fluttered. Her arousal started to waft to my nostrils. "Hmmm, someone's horn-" "Well, I think I'm going to go then." Ronan said, making us both jump. Sh.it, I was getting carried away for a second there. I completely forgot he was here. "O-okay, get home safe." Sabina said. Ronan left the library. Sabina blew out a breath. She gathered her things, and stuffed them in her bag. I followed her outside. I'm kind of disappointed that she didn't call me right away. Just as the thought hit my head, Sabina pulled out her phone. She leaned against the building, and scrolled through our short messages. The smile on her face could have made me scream to the world about my happiness. I love her smile. Sabina chewed on her bottom lip as her finger hovered over the call button. For a second, I was nervous that she was going to chicken out. Then she pressed it. It's a good thing my darkness hides more than just me. Unless I want something to be known. Like my voice in my girl's ear. I teleported quite a few feet back from Sabina, and answered the phone. "Hey babe, you done studying already?" I asked. I watched Sabina roll her eyes. "I'm not your babe, and.. kind of." She said. "Kind of?" I asked. "Well, I feel like I didn't get much done. I really need to study more. I have one exam tomorrow." She told me as she started to walk down the sidewalk. "You still have time. How about you head home, and I'll grab some food and meet you there?" I suggested. "I don't know Alessio.." Sabina replied softly. "Why not? Have you eaten already?" I asked. "Well no, but-" "Then you should eat." I interrupted. Sabina huffed. "Are you really going to help me? I can't afford for you to just come over and distract me." She said, irritated. I chuckled at her. "I promise to be on my best behavior. I would feel terrible if you failed an exam because of me." I said honestly. "Okay fine, but you have to stay on the phone with me so that I feel safer. I feel like someone is following me even though no one is around. It's so creepy." She told me. My face heated. Tull snickered at me. Creepy, really? "Well, you are fine as fu.ck. You probably are being followed." I teased. Sabina laughed. "Hey, did you know that the library here is haunted?"
