Chapter 3: Sabina's P.O.V.

"Come help us clean up the beach!" "Don't you care about the turtles!?" "Come have fun with us! There's going to be a killer party after!" "Take a flyer!" "Tell your friends!" My fellow club members and I all said the same things as we passed out flyers. So far it's the same thing. Some people take an interest. Most do not. I sighed as I passed out what felt like my thousandth flyer. This is so exhausting. People are rude, and I have so much studying to do. Next week is exam week, and school will be over. I wonder if I should try getting a job again over the summer. Maybe I can try something I haven't before. "Can I have one of those?" A deep voice asked me. Wow, that was the deepest voice I've ever heard. I bet it would sound even better all raspy. I shook my head, and looked up at the man who was speaking. Wow.. He's the most attractive person I've ever seen in my life. He's super tall, well over a foot taller than my 5'4 frame. His white V-neck shirt is straining against his large muscles. God, his biceps are as big as my head. He has small black gauges in his ears. I can see a tattoo poking out from the end of his left sleeve. Not only does the man have an amazing physique, but everything else about him is just as se.xy. His eyes are different colors, his right eye is an emerald green color, and his left is as blue as the ocean. His raven black hair is tied up in a manbun at the back of his head, and he has a co.cky grin spread across his face. My eyes roamed down his body. Even his legs are huge. Who wears boots in the summer in California? By the time that my eyes made it back to his interesting ones, he was smirking at me. I raised a brow at him. I'm not sure that I like how co.cky this guy is. "Like what you see, mate?" He asked. I frowned. Mate? He doesn't sound foreign. "Uhm, hardly." I stated. I turned away from the guy, hoping to just ignore him. I wasn't so lucky. "Wait, do you not.. know who I am?" He asked. "Are you a celebrity or something?" I asked. "What? No. We're mates." He said. "Uh.. I'm pretty sure I've never met you. How could we be friends?" I said. "Friends?" The guy said, confused. I gave him a confused look. Isn't that what mates means? The guy looked back at me just as confused. He mumbled something under his breath that I didn't quite catch. At least I couldn't have heard it right. It sounded like he said, "She must be human". I looked the guy up and down skeptically. After determining that he must be a looney, I took a few steps away, and tried to ignore him. Tried. "Hey wait," he said as he stepped towards me. I continued to ignore him, and pass out flyers. "Yes?" I asked politely. "You didn't give me a flyer." He said, grinning. "I'll give you one!" Cindy, a girl in my club, who happens to hate me, said happily. I rolled my eyes. Great. At least now he'll leave me alone. Cindy is a very pretty girl. On the outside. She has long tan legs, long curly brown hair, and a bright white smile. But she's a total bit.ch. She's fake nice to me all the time, and really cakes on the back handed comments. I never say anything, I just try to be nice. Although, Serena has wittingly come to my defense a few times. She always knows how to put Cindy in her place elegantly. "Uh, I'd rather take one from her, thanks," the guy replied. My eyes widened. What? Why? I looked at the two of them. The guy is just smiling at me. Cindy, however, is glaring at me. I sighed heavily, here it comes. "Awh, do you feel bad for her?" Cindy asked. "So do we, that's why she's here." She said, smirking at me. I crossed my arms, and gave her a flat look. The guy's eyes snapped down at her. "What do you mean?" He asked, sounding kind of panicked. Then his eyes snapped back at me. They look.. intense. Why's he looking at me like that? "Are you, like, sick or something? Please don't say it's cancer." He rushed out. I gave him an incredulous look. Even Cindy looked up at him dumbfounded. "Uh, no?" I said, confused. "I'm.. perfectly healthy." Cindy scoffed. "I doubt that." She muttered. "Then.. why do they feel bad for you?" The guy asked. I frowned at him. Isn't it.. kind of obvious? I mean, I don't think I'm disgusting or anything, but.. I'm the only overweight person here. I'm probably the only one who weighs over 150 pounds, and I weigh exactly 200. Although, the longer I stare at this guy, the more he just looks genuinely confused. He looks like he genuinely is waiting for an answer. Does he really not get it? "Uhm.. Ask her that. I wasn't even aware anyone felt bad for me here." I said, staring at Cindy. Cindy looked around. I guess she doesn't see anyone important around. Because she turned her head to smirk at me, and then looked up at the guy. "Because she's fat duh," She stated like it was the most obvious thing in the world. I rolled my eyes. I had full intentions of ignoring her after that. I'm used to this kind of stuff, so I'm good at brushing it off. However, before I could even think about turning my body, the guy looked down at Cindy with the hardest, most scary glare I'd ever seen from anyone. If looks could kill, Cindy would be a pile of ash on the p*****t right now. She must have sensed it too, because she gulped, and her eyes widened. "Fat? What the fu.ck are you even talking about? I fu.cking hate that word." He said. Then he made a disgusted noise as he took a step away from Cindy. "All of you skinny bit.ches are the same. Always putting curvey queens down because you're jealous you don't have a body like that." He ranted, and pointed to me. My eyebrows shot up. What's going on? "Jealous?" Cindy said, disgusted. "Of her?" "That's what I said." The guy said as he narrowed his eyes at her. No really, what the hell is going on? "She's way hotter than you. I mean look at her." The guy said, pointing at me again. I looked around, hoping someone would come to rescue me. "Plus, she seems a lot nicer than you, and I feel like that counts way more." He said. Everything this guy has said so far, has confused me. However, these last words confused me even more. I've never heard anyone as attractive as him say something so.. deep. My eyes flickered back at him. He looks like he wants to throw Cindy halfway across campus. Maybe I should say something. "Uhm, I really appreciate you standing up for me and all." I said. The guy turned his eyes back to me, his mood instantly changing. A smile spread across his face as he gave me his full attention. Wow, that smile is dazzling. "I think you two should cool it." I told them. "Cindy, just.. go back to wherever you were at before." I said. Cindy scoffed. "Whatever loser." She said before storming off. "You're just going to let her talk to you like that?" The guy asked. "Uh, yeah." I said, annoyed, as I handed him a flyer. "Here, now go. I'm trying to do something here." "Can I help?" He asked. I looked at him confused. "Help?" I asked. "Yeah, passing out flyers. Cleaning the beaches is important after all. I'd love to help my new friend...." He trailed off waiting for me to fill in the blank. I just blinked at him. "Why?" I asked. "Why do I want to help? Or why do I want a pretty girl's name?" He asked teasingly. I scoffed. "You're right." He said. "Pretty is one helluva understatement." Then he winked at me. I'm so confused. What is happening? What's up with this guy? He's flirting with me hard. Like.. going out of his way to make it obvious. I just.. don't understand why. "You're.. really weird. It's freaking me out." I said. Then I turned around, and tried to pass out more flyers. "Ha.. W-weird?" He asked. "That's right," I replied. "Okay, what if I tell you my name?" He asked. Not sure why, since he continued without letting me reply. "I'm Alessio, Alessio Morningstar. You can call me Less though. Or handsome, cutie, I'll even accept babe or baby." He said. I raised a brow at him. Is he insane? "You keep getting weirder," I said. Alessio laughed, and it sent tingles down my spine. "Come on.. Just tell me your name." He said. I opened my mouth to tell him no, but then someone started screaming my name. "Sabina!" Nina screamed. My head snapped in the direction of her voice. Nina is marching her way towards me. And she looks pi.ssed. "Oh no." I muttered. Nina must have found out what I did. "Sabina Lynn! You..! You..! Ugh!" She shouted as she got closer to me. Nina marched right up to me. I shrunk back under her intense glare. "What did you do?!" She shouted. I straightened my spine. "They deserved it!" I shouted back. "I told you not to do it! Why did you go behind my back?" She asked. "I didn't!" I shouted. "I.. did it before you told me not to.." I said. Nina stared at me, the anger slowly leaving her features. "What..?" She asked. "Then.. why did you even ask me?" I fiddled with the flyers in my hands. "Well.. I thought you'd say yes.." I mumbled. Nina punched my arm. "You're stupid. You should have just told me about it first. Everyone on campus is talking about it," she said. "I'm sorry Nina. Hold on, I'll come home with you. I'll cook for you tonight. Whatever you want." I told her. "Cool, can I come?" Alessio asked. Nina's eyes shot up to look at him. Her jaw dropped as she looked him up and down. "Ignore him." I told her. Nina's eyes snapped down at me. "Oh no, you owe me." She said before looking back up at Alessio. "Hi there, I'm Nina, Sabina's best friend." She said, holding her hand out to him. Alessio gladly took it, with a smile on his face. "I'm Alessio, it's nice to meet you," he said. "How do you know Sab? I've never seen you around before," Nina said. "I'm new to the area actually. I saw Sabina handing out flyers, and just had to come over and flirt with her. She's very pretty," Alessio stated. My face heated instantly. Nina looked down at me with a raised brow. I couldn't look at either of them. "Well, if Sabina here is making me dinner, then yeah, I say you can come over." Nina said. "What? No." I rushed out. "Thanks! I'd love to," Alessio said happily. "Cool, let me go grab something from a friend of mine. I'll meet you guys at home." Nina said. Then she looked down at me. "Don't you dare go home without him." She warned me. Then Nina turned around, and walked away. What a traitor. I felt Alessio lean his lips close to my ear. "Looks like you're stuck with me for the evening, Sabina."
