"It's going to be so much living together now." I said happily.
"Ehh..." Both twins said at the same time.
I looked between the two of them.
"What?" I asked.
The two gave each other the same exact stare down, before making the same exact disgusted sound.
I couldn't help but laugh at them. They really are as twin-y as it gets. Not only do they look exactly alike, with the same dark brown hair, and the same hazel eyes. They also act almost just alike.
Of course, they have their differences. Nick is cleaner than Nina. He also cares way more about school, and is kind of the shy type. While Nina is a fireball, wild and free.
"Nina is a total pig! You have no idea, Sab, she's going to make us clean up after her." Nick whined.
Nina rolled her eyes.
"You're a shower hog." She said before looking at me. "How many times has he hogged all the hot water on you, huh? Answer honestly."
I looked between the two before taking a drink of my sweet tea.
"I just wanna have fun." I mumbled.
Nina laughed while Nick shook his head.
"You'll get sick of her in no time." Nick told me.
"Sab would never get sick of me, right?" Nina asked.
"That's right." I sung out.
The three of us laughed. We all lounged back on the couch that's on our balcony. The sun is setting, and we all have school tomorrow. Nina is going to find out what I did. I also have to hand out those flyers for the beach clean up.
When none of my jobs had worked out, I couldn't shake the disappointed feeling. I felt like if I couldn't even hold down a job, maybe I could make myself useful somewhere else. That was when I met Serena.
Serena was a sophomore when I started here. She's still here, going for a higher degree. I had run into her while she was trying to get people to sign her petition. I don't even know what the petition was for.
I couldn't take my eyes off of Serena as she talked my ear off about how we needed to take care of the ocean. I just nodded like a complete i***t. I ended up signing the petition, and asking where else I could help.
It wasn't long before I made a move on Serena. Despite not having the highest self-confidence… I've never been afraid to make a move.
Serena and I had spent a lot of time together before then. I actually started to take a huge interest in cleaning up the ocean, and eventually began taking on a bigger role in our club. I was proud of myself, and Serena said she was proud of me too.
We were at a party for our club. Serena was the one that asked me to go somewhere alone with her. I thought she was into me too. I had no doubts when I leaned in to press my lips to hers.
That was the first night I had ever been with a girl. It was also the closest I think I've ever been to being in love. But it wasn't love. I was only infatuated.
It only took me two weeks to realize my feelings weren't real. Which was totally okay. Serena didn't have feelings like that for me either. We were simply just having fun.
And now I'm the vice president of our club.
"Well, I'm going to bed. I have an early class," Nick said.
"You always have an early class." Nina said, rolling her eyes.
"Actually," I said. "I'm going to bed too. Night."
**********************************************
I looked myself over in my mirror one last time. If I keep worrying about what I'm wearing, I'm never going to leave. I just can't help it.
Since starting my new life here in Long Beach, I've been trying to come out of my shell. Mom and Erika, my sister, always told me that there were certain things 'girls like me' shouldn't wear. Now that I don't have them constantly in my ear… I decided to do all the things I never got to before.
Which means wearing what I want.
Today I am dressed in high waist, light colored jeans. The front is pretty much completely ripped open, exposing my tanned chubby legs. With a cropped nude/pink T-shirt. I think that it's supposed to be baggy, but it's hugging me. It's also low cut and showing a lot of boob. My long blonde hair is up in a high ponytail, my curls falling down my back. I settled for just mascara around my aqua-colored eyes.
I smiled at my reflection. I do look good though. I have a lot of curves, and I think that counts for a lot.
I grabbed my bag, my headphones, and my sunglasses, and headed out for the day. I walk to campus every day. I'm only a few miles away, so it's no big deal. Nick usually has classes before me, and Nina usually starts later in the morning. I like walking alone though. It gives me some time to just be in my own head.
I hummed along to the music in my ears as I walked to school. When I got there, I saw a large crowd in the middle of the yard in front of the school. A ton of people are all grouped together staring at something.
I wonder what's going on over there?
"Hey Sabina." Someone said as they pulled out my ear bud.
I turned my head to see another friend of mine, Ronan. We have quite a few classes together, actually. Which means we study a lot together.
Ronan is a very attractive man. He's tall, with a little bit of muscle, more than most guys here. His long golden blonde hair is usually hanging down to his shoulders. And he has the prettiest blue eyes.
Despite having an obvious attraction to him, I have not made any kind of move on Ronan. Ronan is very outgoing. He flirts with everyone, and is super nice. I also don't think he has a thing for me.
The hotter the guy, the harder it is for me to read him. Usually. I mean, Ronan isn't the type I go for. He's way out of my league. The only person out of my league that I ever hooked up with is Serena.
"Hey Ro." I replied with a smile.
I took my other earbud out, and shoved them into my pocket.
"Do you know what's going on over there?" Ronan asked me, nodding his head towards the crowd of people.
I shrugged as I looked over.
"No idea," I said. "Must be something big. Like a dead body or something."
Ronan laughed.
"You said that so casually." He teased.
Again, I shrugged.
"Okay, so big favor," Ronan said. "Can you help me with some of the homework in Prof Alban's class?"
"That's the class we're going to right now." I said incredulously.
Ronan gave me an apologetic look.
"I wanted to call you last night, buuuuuut... I realized that even though we study all the time, I don't have your number." he said.
I laughed, and shook my head.
"Okay fine, I'll help you." I said. "Let's just get there quickly."
"And your number?" Ronan asked.
I gave Ronan a side glance. He looks completely serious. Actually, he's smirking at me. Like he expects me to say yes.
I stopped walking, and turned to him.
"What's in it for me?" I asked.
"What do you mean?" Ronan asked.
"You want my number so you can treat me like some on-call tutor. What do I get out of it?" I asked with a smile.
Ronan looked me up and down.
"I could think of a few ways to show my gratitude." He said seductively.
Uh, whoa, what? That wasn't what I was expecting. I just wanted to tease him a bit.
"Uhm…" I trailed off.
"Let me teach you how to surf in return then," Ronan said.
Oh.. That makes more sense.
"Oh, uh, yeah. That actually sounds great." I said as I started walking again. "I didn't even know you surfed. How about today? I have to pass out flyers, but maybe after that?"
Ronan stiffened slightly.
"Uh, not tonight. I have a family thing." He said.
"Oh, okay." I replied.
Maybe he was only offering to be nice to me. Whatever. I'll just let him tell me a day.
"How about tomorrow?" Ronan asked.
I looked at him.
"Really?" I asked.
"Yeah, of course," Ronan said.
Then he leaned in closer to whisper in my ear.
"If I'm being honest, you're probably the most fun girl I know. We'll have a great time," he said huskily.
I gulped.
"O-okay." I said.
"So, anyway, I'm coming to your beach cleaning party. Don't worry." He said, going right back to his usual carefree tone.
Phew, that was hot.
"Thanks. I appreciate it. The more people, the faster it'll get done." I said.
"Well, I mean yeah, but I have to go anyway," he said.
"Have to?" I asked.
"Well yeah, Serena is my cousin. Our family is a close one. She makes me attend all of these. Have you really never noticed me before?" He asked.
My jaw dropped. We just got to our classroom, and I paused in the doorway. Ronan turned his head to laugh at me. I rushed into the room, and sat in the chair next to him.
"I didn't know you and Serena were cousins," I said.
"No? Well, we are." He said. "I'm not surprised that you never noticed me at the parties though. You were always too busy following Serena around like a little puppy."
I frowned.
"I did not." I complained.
"Oh, you did." Ronan said with wide eyes. "Don't worry. The women in our family have that effect on people."
"Huh?" I asked.
What's that supposed to mean?
"Nevermind." Ronan muttered. "I'm just glad your eyes are on me now."
I blushed at his words.
What is going on? Has Ronan always been like this with me? It almost feels like.. he's flirting with me.
No, I'm probably just imagining things. No guy as se.xy as Ronan will ever be into me. Which is completely fine. I just need to remember my place.
"So," Ronan said. "This is what I'm struggling with."
