Adalinda soon returned with the mushrooms and headed to the kitchen to prepare some lunch for the three of them. Adalinda hung her coat she wore, grabbed her long hair in a pony tail with a red ribbon and put her basket on top of the counter. She started to packing out the different kind of mushrooms and then other ingredients from the cupboards. Timon kept looking what she was doing over her shoulders. She just smiled each time and kept cooking. Ada cleaned and cut the mushrooms carefully, took a few different spices out and put a nice chunk of butter in a big pan. Tase sneaked closer.
- Do you need a hand? - Ada just smiled and shook her head.
- You don't have to go extra miles to cook for us, we are grown ass men! - Tase said and she chuckled.
- I want to cook for my Pack! Also, I know you liked the food I cooked, so go and occupy yourself while I'm cooking! - Ada said playfully but there was that strong authority in her voice that made Tase act as she said. Timon noticed it as well and even he moved to do something useful instead of just sitting there.
- Timon! If you are feeling better, come with me, let's cut some wood! - Tase said and Timon jumped up to follow his Alpha. When Tase was already out of the door, Timon grabbed Ada's wrist and growled at her in a low voice.
- If you try anything sneaky, I'm going to kill you...- Adalinda stared into his eyes and her scent intensified in the room, numbing Timon's senses for a second. Then, Ada just smiled and bopped Timon's nose.
- Why would I try anything sneaky? - she asked innocently and Tase called for Timon, who left the house with even more uneasiness. Tase started to cut up some firewood from the spare house and Timon just piled them up, being careful with his few, still unhealed wounds.
- You are being unusually quiet. - Tase said as he swung the axe hard and sliced the log in front of him in two. Timon sighed and walked closer to his friend.
- Simply, I speak in vain. You've already decided to trust this strange girl. So, as your best friend and Beta, it's my job to stand by your side and help you up if you hurt your ankle. - Tase grinned at Timon and put the axe down. He hugged his friend and sighed.
- I'm so glad that at least you are alive! - Timon chuckled.
- Same here! - they smelled a really good scent coming from the house and despite all his reluctance, Timon's stomach let him know, loudly enough, that he would welcome a ceasefire. Tase laughed and nodded towards the house.
-I think the lunch is ready, come on! - he grabbed a good amount of cut up firewood and Timon did the same. They walked in and the table war already set for three. Adalinda pulled a small ladder as the third chair there. They put the firewood to its place and smelled big in the air. The house was filled with the scent of butter, herbs and delicious mushrooms.
- Just in time! Go wash your hands and let's eat! - Ada said and took the coat of the men to the hanger. Tase and Timon took a seat after washing their hands and Ada brought a huge pan of buttery sautéed mushrooms with fresh herbs. She looked regretfully at Timon.
- Sorry that there is no meat today. I had no time to hunt or fish... - Timon's eyes widened at the little girl and Tase smiled patting her head.
- Don't be silly! This is more than enough! I can hunt in the afternoon for tomorrow if needed. I'm all good now! - Ada blushed at Tase's touch and Timon noticed it. Ace might be right... They started to eat and Timon hated to admit, but Adalinda was an amazing cook. He didn't smell any poisonous stuff and she scooped her food from the same pan as they did.
- Wow Ada! This is amazing! - Tase complimented the lunch and mind-linked Timon.
-'Say something! - Timon coughed gently and turned to Ada.
- It is not bad. - She smiled from ear to ear and kept eating. After lunch, Tase offered that he will clean the plates and Ada thanked him with a peck on his cheek.
- I'll be in my room for a little! - she said and left the stunned Tase alone with the confused Timon. Tase reached for the pan and had a weird expression on his face.
- What's wrong? - Timon asked.
- This is f*****g heavy! How could she lift it when it was still full of food? - Timon rolled his eyes.
- You are exaggerating because you like her!-he took the pan from Tase's hand and his eyes widened.
- What the actual hell? - Tase grabbed the plates and cutlery. While they washed the plates Timon turned to his friend. He was so relaxed and happy now. Timon didn't want to break him, but Tase had obligations and he couldn't stay here with a strange girl in the middle of nowhere.
- We should go back to the Hidalgo Pack. - Timon said and prepared himself for the argument with Tase. He was always really hotheaded and rebellious. But this time, the Tase who spoke, wasn't his silly friend anymore, it was a real Alpha.
- I've already thought about it. We must burry them with dignity. As soon as your wounds healed, we will go. Timon, I know you don't like Ada, but she saved my life and yours. That's enough reason for me to take her under my protection, and I want to bring her with us to my Uncle's Pack.- Timon sighed, he knew that Tase was right. He glanced towards the stairs.
- What if she doesn't want to come along?
- I'll try to convince her somehow. She has been alone for many years probably and I can feel her loneliness. I don't know how or why, but I want her near me. - Timon remained quiet as they finished washing the plates. After a little nap everyone gathered in the living room. Ada looked at the two men as they spoke seriously about the future. Tase is really handsome... I don't want him to leave. Should I go with them? But, what if they'll find out and try to kill me or they'll throw me away? Adalinda though hard about her own future which she never really considered given. She knew from the way Timon kept her in tab, that he truly cared for Tase. Timon looked slightly older, he had blonde hair and green eyes, wide shoulders but a less muscular body than Tase. She didn't realize they were talking to her until Tase gently touched her shoulder.
- Ada, are you okay? We have called your name a few times already. - as she looked into Tase's amber eyes, a smile curved up on Adalinda's lips.
- Totally, I just spaced out. Sorry... - Tase smiled at her and caressed the top of her head.
- No problem! What we were telling you is that we are planning to go back to my old Pack.
- Oh... Do you need my help? - she asked and Timon got surprised.
- Do you have any idea why we want to go there? - he asked a bit harshly. This little girl seemed a bit dumb and really naive but those eyes, scent and aura... They didn't leave Timon and Aces's minds at ease.
- I suppose that you want to give a funeral to your lost family and friends. As part of the new Pack, I think it is my duty as well to help with that. - Tase smiled warmly at her and Timon's eyes widened.
"- She is not that dumb as she looks like... - Ace said and Timon agreed.
- That's what troubles me my friend...
