6. Bad Family

After the graduation ceremony, a lot of people greeted me. I was so confused and happy. People who used to ignore me suddenly became friendly. Really, people can change so quickly just because they know my social life has changed too.
Aiden stood near me. Now, I don't know what to do. I should have gone home, but Logan asked me to wait for him. We had to go home together. Meanwhile, Logan was busy taking selfies with some of the students and staff. I have to admit that Logan has become very popular. The women noticed his looks and wealth.
"I didn't realize you'd go through this for your life." Ada approached me with her arms crossed. She had a sarcastic look on her face.
I honestly wanted to ignore Ada, but people knew that we were family. So, I couldn't help but respond to Ada.
"What do you mean?" I replied.
"Don't play dumb. I know you purposely approached Logan Maxwell for money. You sold yourself to him."
"I'm not like that. I've never done anything stupid like that!" I really couldn't take what Ada was saying. What did I have to do to make her not talk about me? What did I do wrong to her?
It wasn't long before Vienna came over. She put her arm around me, but I was sure she wasn't trying to be intimate.
"Tell me. How did you get to meet a rich man like Logan Maxwell? Did you sell yourself to a pimp to become Logan Maxwell's mistress?"
I reflexively slapped Vienna. To me, her words were outrageous. I had been very patient when living with them. Now, my patience was at its limit.
"Damn it!" Ada didn't accept it when I slapped her daughter. She beat me, too, but someone held Ada's hand back so it didn't hit my face.
I saw Logan standing nearby. He was the one who had restrained Ada's hand from hitting my face. Ada and Vienna were so surprised. I was the same. I hurriedly embraced Logan's arm.
"Looks like your hand went too wild, Ma'am," Logan said. He even smiled in front of Ada.
"Mr-Mr. Maxwell." Ada didn't move. She wouldn't be able to fight Logan.
Surprisedly, Vienna approached Logan. She grabbed Logan's hand that was holding his mother's and smiled flirtatiously at Logan.
"Hello, Mr. Maxwell. You must have misunderstood. Our family has a rather unique custom. Don't get me wrong. My mom wasn't trying to hit Gianna. She loves Gianna very much," Vienna said softly. I was disgusted to see her like that.
"Family?" Logan looked at me. He pretended not to know. I was pretty sure Logan had found out all about my background. There was no way he didn't know who they were. "Are they your family, Gianna?"
I didn't know how to answer. Biologically, they were my family but never considered me family.
"Oh, yeah." I pointed at Ada then. "This is Ada, my aunt. Next to her is Vienna, my cousin," I replied.
Vienna hurriedly extended her hand to Logan. It seemed like she was interested in Logan because she had been clinging to him.
Logan welcomed Vienna's hand, but only for a moment. Ada also shook Logan's hand. I really don't like their attitude.
"If I may know, what is your relationship?" Ada asked. "Why did you suddenly show up and make a scene?
"Did my cousin seduce you for money? Vienna even said nonsense in front of Logan.
Logan glanced at me. He showed a surprised expression. I'm sure Logan wouldn't have thought that my family would be like this.
"No, she didn't. Gianna never hit on me," Logan replied. "In fact, I was attracted to her. It was love at first sight. And we'll be engaged soon."
"Engaged?" Uncle Harold's voice suddenly interrupted our conversation. He appeared and faced Logan. He even acted like a wise man. Uncle Harold looked at Logan very seriously. "My niece is in my care, Sir. Why don't you ask my permission if you want to get engaged to her?”
Uncle Harold. He really is two-faced. He's the one who expelled me at Ada and Vienna's insistence. And now he recognizes me as my guardian?
"Oh, you must be Mr. Miller. You've been taking care of Gianna all this time." Logan extended his hand to Uncle Harold.
We all watched this meeting. Uncle Harold didn't show any response. He didn't even take Logan's hand.
"I will not allow my niece to get engaged without my blessing, Mr. Maxwell. I know you're wealthy, but my niece is still very young. I want her to pursue her career."
I quickly interrupted Uncle Harold's nonsensical words. "Uncle, I'm eighteen years old. I don't need your approval to get engaged to Logan."
Ada and Vienna looked surprised when they heard my words. Ada even put her arms around me. She whispered something in my ear.
"Why are you embarrassing your uncle in front of Mr. Maxwell? Did you forget that your uncle raised you!"
I really felt offended by Ada's words. Raised me? They tortured me. They rarely fed me. They didn't pay for my schooling. Logan had paid the school fees that Uncle Harold hadn't paid in months. I even worked part-time to earn my own money that Vienna stole.
"I am so sorry, Uncle. But I love Logan." I put my arm around Logan. I had to show that Logan and I were an intimate couple. "I will accept Logan as my fiancé. I don't care if Uncle disapproves. I'm an adult and don't need guardianship any more. So, I will remain engaged to Logan."
"You forgot about me just because now you see a rich man!" Uncle Harold was furious. "Your mother left you with me. Where's your gratitude to me, Gianna! I just want you to respect me!"
Logan turned to me. I really hoped he would help me. I was at a loss as to what to do. Can I fight Uncle Harold? It was honestly the first time I had ever dared to fight them.
"Then I will pay you a visit, Mr. Harold Miller. I will ask for your approval so Gianna and I can engage. I love your niece very much. I would do anything for her."
Oh, my god. Logan is a real player. Are werewolves good at stringing words together to seduce? But Aiden said that Logan was very cold towards women.
