Winter's P.O.V
The party was done. We were all getting tidied up before we left for the night. I was still not sure if it was a good idea to meet up with Carlos. He says we are not that different but we are. He has family, a decent job, money, a good life and I have the sense he has a big heart...me on the other hand has none of that. Men like him should be with woman like the ones at this event...not someone like me. Our two worlds are very different and if they collide it would end in heartache...me being the one that would probably break his heart.
“Would you just text him already and stop worrying?” I heard Dinah’s voice say from behind me
“Is it really a good idea?” I sighed
“Yes it is. He is a good man Winter. Give him a chance.” She smiled
I knew she was right...I sensed he was good. I grabbed my phone, opening a text to him
Winter to Carlos: Hi. I am finished if you still wanna grab that drink? If not it’s OK...it's Winter by the way x
I stared at it for a moment, not sure if I should send it but before I could change my mind a finger hit send.
“Ha can't change your mind now.” I heard Dinah giggle
“I hate you.” I laughed pushing her playfully
I heard my phone beep, Carlos's name flashing on my screen
Carlos: I thought you had changed your mind beautiful. I will be there in a few minutes xox
Winter: see you soon x
All of a sudden I was nervous. A part of me wanted to go hide in freezer until he came and went but that would be childish of me.
“Oh my God I can't go for a drink with him looking like this.” I said panicked, remembering I was in my work uniform with messy hair and no make up
“You still look good.” I heard behind me making me jump, Dinah giggling
I slowly turned around, knowing my face would probably be bright red. Carlos was standing at the door, looking handsome with a smirk on his lips
“I look a mess. I need to change, can't go out looking like this.” I laughed nervously
“You look beautiful still but if you would prefer we can stay here and have a drink? Everyone has left anyway.” He shrugged
“Um...yeah OK. I am just gonna help Dinah tidy up.” I smiled
“I will give you both a hand...faster that way.” He smiled
“No I could never allow you to do that.” Dinah said
“I insist.” He smiled widely, a smile that made me weak to my knees.
I turned away, pulling myself together
“Thank you.” Dinah and I said in sync, making Carlos chuckle
The three of us tidied up, Carlos and Dinah chatting away, think they knew each other, she does a lot of events for him and his family.
I was washing some dishes, getting lost in my own world, soon getting pulled out of it when I felt a hand on the small of my back, making a shiver shoot down my spine, telling me it was Carlos
“Can I help you Miss Winter?” he whispered in my ear
I swallowed hard “you can dry if you like.” I said smiling, looking over my shoulder at him
He grabbed the dish cloth, drying as I washed. I was a nervous wreck with him this close to me and I swear I heard him chuckle, knowing exactly what he is doing to me.
“Dinah you head home. Winter and I will finish up in here.” He said
Oh God please tell him no...Please? I do not think I was ready to be alone with him just yet.
“I can't let you do that.” Dinah said
Thank God for that
“I insist on you go. Thank you again, the food was amazing.” He said “now get home to that husband of yours.” He added winking
“Thank You.” She giggled “see you in a couple of weeks for your 30th Carlos.” She smiled at him
“Looking forward to it.” He smiled
“Winter I will call you tomorrow.” Dinah smiled, pulling me in for a hug “relax, he is a good man.” She whispered in my ear, only loud enough for me to hear
“Ok. I will try.” I giggled
Dinah grabbed her things, waving goodbye to us. I fell silent, feeling shy all of a sudden with being alone with him.
“Miss Winter would you relax, I don't bite...promise, unless you want me to.” He said, chuckling at the last part, making me giggle
“I am sorry you make me nervous.” I said blushing, fiddling with the material of my trousers, not looking at him
He stepped into me, placing his finger on my chin, lifting it to look at him. A small whimper fell from my lips as I got lost in his baby blues
“Yes I can see that.” He chuckled “I am a nice guy Winter, you don't need to be nervous around me.” He added
I gave him a small smile, nodding my head, trying to relax a little. A comfortable silence fell between us as we finished cleaning up.
“All done. Drink?” he asked
“Yes please.” I smiled
“Good. Let's go.” He said, his hand falling on the small of my back again, the same shiver shooting through me.
He led us out of the kitchen, through the house until we arrived where he was taking me. It was a large room...a very beautiful one. It had a bar with stools, a pool table, a grand piano and two large red sofas.
“What would you like?” he smiled, going around to the other side of the bar
“Something non-alcohol cause I need to drive home.” I said
“Don’t be silly Winter. I can get you a car to take you home or you can stay here there is plenty of room. My parents are away anyway, I will be staying here tonight, head home tomorrow.” He smiled
“I do not wanna be a bother.” I said
“You won't be. We can have a drink, play some pool or something.” He said rubbing the back of his neck
I fell silent for a moment, studying him
“OK sounds good.” I smiled
With that the biggest smile appeared On his face “how about a cocktail? I make a mean cocktail.” He said the dorkiest look on his face
“Cocktail sounds good.” I giggled
“Please take a seat.” He smiled pointing at the bar stool in front of him
I nodded, hopping on it and watching him work. He was showing off a little, flipping the bottles, catching them, shaking the cocktail up with style. I could not help but giggle at him as I watched him. He was pretty adorable. He sat it down in front of me and it’s a cocktail I had no clue what it was even though I have worked in bars for years.
“What cocktail is that?” I laughed
“The Carlos special baby.” He said in a sing song voice winking at me “try it.” He encouraged
I took a sip, a small moan escaping my lips...its tasted so good...very fruity, could barely taste the alcohol in it. I see him grip the edge of bar as I moaned softly again. Oh s**t! My moans are getting to him that was not my intention.
“Sorry.” I mumbled, feeling my face flush “it is really good though.” I added
“Glad you like it Miss Winter.” He smiled, his grip finally loosening on the bar, making himself a scotch.
After we both had our drinks he walked around to where I was
“Come sit with me. I wanna get to know you.” He smiled
I nodded, following him to the sofa, sitting next to him. Only if I knew this night would change everything for both of us.
