A New Friend

The class ended and the teacher walked out of the class, Emily let out a sigh of relief thankfully she was able to understand the chemistry lecture even though she misssed a little explanation for running late.
Her stomach was beginning to rumble, she needed to go to the cafeteria. She placed her books in her back and pulled the bag strap on her shoulder.
“Hey New girl, welcome to Snowflakes. I am Anaya Reign”. The girl in the pink hoodie said stretching her hand towards Emily.
Emily looked at her hand for a second before she returned the girl’s hand shake. “Emily Salvador, it is nice meeting you Anaya”. Emily said politely.
“Oh my gosh, you have a really nice voice and hair, anyways now that we are seat mate I think we need to be bffs” Anaya clapped her hands excitedly
.
Emily raised a questioning brow at her, just how old was this girl and bffs? What the hell was she talking about. “I’m sorry Anaya but I have to get to the cafeteria I am really really hungry” Emily said.
“Oh we can go together, I also want to eat” Anaya said with a smile, she grabbed Emily’s hand and pulled her along with her as they made their way to the cafeteria.
Emily took her time to look around, familiarizing herself with the environment so she would be able get here on her own next time.
The cafeteria was at the long end of the school and it was a big space with chairs and tables arranged there. They walked to the food vendors to take their food, Anaya brought a sandwich with a kiwi juice while Emily got burger, chips and an apple juice.
“Why are you eating so much?” Anaya asked as they walked to sit down.
“I am hungry that’s why” Emily almost rolled her eyes at the girl’s question
.
“Oh I am really jealous of you, you eat so much yet you look so fit and skinny but here I am eating this stupid vegetable salad because I am watching my weight” Anaya pouted, testing her head on her hand.
“I am not skinny and you don’t look bad yourself so I would say you should eat whatever and however you want, food is life girl” Emily said unwrapping the burger.
“I can’t do that, my mum says she would send me to my aunt’s house back in India if I grew fat” Anaya said letting out a tired sigh.
“Oh Alright” Emily said, she concentrated on eating her food because she had no reply to Anaya’s words.
Thr girls ate in silence and then went back for their second and last class of the day.
The class lasted for two hours and Emily’s eyes heaved as she wanted to sleep, the lesson was so boring and so was the teacher. Thankfully the bell rang indicating the end of the lesson, Emily almost yelled in excitement as she picked her bag and walked out of the class.
She just called her father to tell him that her class had ended, he told her he would be in her school in twenty minutes so she had to wait outside the school, sitting down as she scrolled through her phone watching t****k.
She had not seen Anaya since the class ended and she was glad because the girl talked way to much for Emily’s liking and besides she did not even know who she was.
“Hey girl, you are here!” Anaya shouted from behind her as she ran towards Emily:
Emily rolled her eyes, and there she was. Emily said to herself, “Hey Anaya” she flashed her a small smile.
“I was looking every where for you but I couldn’t find you” Anaya said joining Emily where she sat down.
“I am waiting here for my father” Emily replied shortly. “Where were you?” She asked.
“Well, I am in the library, I heard some girls talking about the cute librarian so I decided to go check who it was and oh my dear goodness, he is super hot” Anaya said blushing like a high school kid.
Emily rolled her eyes again at Anaya, “oh really? I bet he is” sarcasm lacing her words.
“I am serious Emily, he has to be the most handsome man I have ever seen, and he is so gentle and reserved” Anaya joined her hand together.
“How do you know that? You just met him today for the first time, please stop acting like a teenager in love” Emily rolled her eyes again.
“I’m not in love with him..well not yet but I just think he is very handsome, the library is going to be my favorite place in this school from now on” Anaya giggled happily.
What a love struck girl, Emily said to herself. “Good for you Anaya”
“I feel you don’t believe me right? Why don’t I take you there to see the librarian and prof to you what I am saying, I am sure he would still be in the library now” Anaya said holding Emily’s hand.
“No no no, I am not going anywhere with you Anaya, my father would be here soon so I can’t leave this place” Emily pulled her hand away from Anaya.
“Oh alright then I will just show him to you tomorrow. I have to hurry back inside so I can ride along with Mrs Williams” Anaya stood up from where she was sitting.
Emily was about to ask what was Anaya’s relationship with Mrs Williams but she decided to let it go besides it was none of her business, “Alright, I will see you tomorrow”
“Bye” Anaya said and ran back into the school compound.
A few minutes later, Emily’s father arrived at the school and they went to their house enjoying each other’s company.
