Chapter 9

I woke up with a banging headache in a surrounding I wasn't use to at all, or at least I do not recognize at all.  "Where am I?" I got up slowly and noticed that I was in a beautifully decorated room with white lace curtains lightly draping over the floor the ceiling windows.  I got up from the big soft bed covered in gray and green bedsheets and pillows and headed towards the window. I was in a t-shirt that looked too big to be mine and my wrists were sore. I looked down to see marks around my wrist, looked like rope marks.  "Just what the hell happened..." I whispered to myself before being interrupted.  "You're up." I heard a voice from behind me opening the door and I turned around.  "How are you feeling?" He asked while taking a seat on the sofa adjacent from where I am.  "Who are you?" I looked at him and approached him slowly before taking a seat across from him.  "My name is Dylan Harrison and I saved you from the sea. We were sailing back home from a day out and found you drifting in the middle of nowhere so we took you up."  "Oh..." was all I could come up with.  "So what's your name?" I sat there in silent before hesitantly replying.  "I'm... actually...  I... I don't know." I looked down and played with my hands embarrassed to meet his gaze.  "You don't know?" His voice a little husky but deep.  "No Sir, I'm sorry. I don't remember." I felt tears building up in my eyes as I saw him get up from his seat and head out the door without saying anything leaving me in the same position as when he entered.  At the sound of his exit I slumped in the empty sofa and started to cry. I felt so vulnerable and like an i***t. How could I not know who I am? Why can't I recall anything? Why was I drifting in the middle of the sea? Before I could compose myself the door suddenly opened again with him and another woman behind him following him silently.  "She's a doctor, she'll get you check up okay? I'll wait outside." I nodded at his orders and looked up at the doctor. She was young and beautiful. She had cherry red hair, probably dyed, but blue eyes and a petite structure. She spoke with a very distinct Australian accent.  "Hi love, I'll do a few generic checks on you first to make sure you're okay." I nodded as she checked my head and body. She didn't do much other than pressing a few parts here and there and asking if I felt it and if I felt pain or any sort of discomfort.  "What's your name?" She asked and I looked down again, at my feet. "I'm sorry I don't know..." I managed to reply before crouching down and curling up into a ball. "How old are you?" She asked bending down to my level and putting her hand on my back. "I..I don't know..." I started to cry.  "It's okay love, it's okay. You'll be alright." She comforted me and held me in her arms for awhile before we heard a knock on the door.  "Is she alright?" I heard his voice call from the other side.  "Yes. She's physically fine, nothing broken or bruised." She smiled and got up before helping me up to my feet.  "Don't worry love, Mr. Harrison is a good man. I'm sure he'll help you find your family." She took my hand in hers and walked towards the door opening it.  "She seems to have lost her memories Mr. Harrison. I'm suggesting to take her to the hospital so we can do a thorough scan." He nodded and looked straight at me.  "I'll get her some clothes first." He pointed at the maids around and they nodded taking me away with them.  After getting dressed in a white sundress and some sandals I headed downstairs to find him waiting for me at the door.  "Thank you for waiting Mr. Harrison, and for the dress." I looked up at him and he smiled back. I blushed at the sight of his smile.  "You look beautiful in it." He opened the door and motioned for me to head out.  Throughout the entire car ride we were silent. I took the chance to properly study Mr. Harrison's face. He looked like he was in his early 30's. He had curly brown hair that slicked back a little and light green eyes, he looked tall, probably around 6 feet tall as he stood at least a head over me. From the looks of his house and his outfit I could tell that he was well off. For some reason, even though I remember nothing about myself I remember the brands he adorned on his body. He wore a GMT Rolex on his wrist and a Cartier love bracelet on his other hand. His suit is from Ted Baker and he wore a distinct Armani Exchange cologne, not sure how I know this but these names popped up in my head as I studied him.  "You okay little one?" He caught me staring and I quickly looked away.  "Oh yeah. I'm okay." I heard him chuckle as he went back to playing with his phone.  "Um... Where are we?" I asked while looking out the car as we drove to the hospital.  "Havana" He quickly answered and I nodded my head. I wonder if this is where I was from. Probably not though as nothing looked familiar from the windows of the car. Just who am I and where was I from?  When we got to the hospital Mr. Harrison escorted me to the doctor again. I realized her name was doctor Maria Long upon seeing the name tag on the door.  "Maria she's in your hands. I'll wait here." Mr. Harrison sat down on the sofa in her office as doctor Long took me with her towards the examination room.  "I'll do some scans okay, change into this." She handed me the hospital gown and I changed into it taking off everything except for my underwear.  "Don't move okay." I nodded as she took a scan of my brain. After ten minutes we returned back to her office with the scans in hand.  "Seems like she's fine except for the memory lost. See this part here, it's a bit of blood that's in her brain but nothing that'll damage her, once it dissipates she'll probably regain her memory." Doctor Long announced while going over the scans with Mr. Harrison.  "So, what do you plan to do love?" She looked at me and on instinct I quickly looked at Mr. Harrison.  "I found her so she'll be my responsibility. I'll take care of her." He got up and grabbed my hand in his.  "Come, let's get you something to eat. You must be hungry." I nodded and followed him out the door but not before turning around and giving Doctor Long a quick thank you.  "What do you want to have?" He asked while opening the car door for me.  "Anything is fine Mr. Harrison."  "Dylan, call me Dylan." He smiled while patting my head and closing the door before heading towards the other side and taking a seat next to me.  "Ben, take us to el Palicio." The driver nodded and drove away.  "What's el Palicio?" I asked looked at Dylan who texted something into this phone.  "A place where you'll love, good food there." He smiled and resumed his attention to his phone.
