Old Pen was asleep in his chair as they came pounding up the stairs.
“Mr Pen! Mr Pen!” They explained their idea to him. It didn’t take long to persuade him. He was as worried about his ‘best assistant Alice’ as they were. They all worked for the rest of the day.
On the front page, Pen and Sam put the headline, THE THISTOWN THREE over the pictures of Alice Bright, Fortuna Mink, and Jack Juniper. Pen wrote a short article about how the three had tried to start a revolution against Rasper and had disappeared, or ‘been disappeared,’ as he put it. Sam wrote another article about the No-Life Man and how a man who was rotting and stank, and said nothing and couldn’t even move or breathe, shouldn’t be allowed to change people’s lives, no matter what Rasper said.
