(Narah POV)
"Ahh!" I screamed.
I growled and moved back hissing at the stupid human technology. Why do these human needs to have steaming hot water to bath!
The whole room is now foggy as well.
A loud sound was heard before a series of knocks echoed around the bathroom.
"Narah?! Narah?! Are you there? Say something!" Tristan's voice came.
"I am ok!" I shouted back at him before looking at the shower. "Actually wait," I said before I wrapped myself around with a robe.
At least that wasn’t something new.
I opened the door and hid behind the bathroom only showing my head.
"That thing just burnt me" I muttered pointing to the shower.
"You turned on the heater," he said before walking in. He clicked his tongue and looked around. "I can't see with this fog" he muttered entering deep into the fog.
"Careful! The water is really hot!" I shouted after which I heard a hum.
A few seconds later the water stopped and he walked out. I looked at his body and sighed seeing that he was not wet.
That means he didn’t burn himself.
He turned to me before blushing. He turned around clearing his throat.
"Um… did you get burnt?" he asked as I stared at his back. Even his ears were red.
"It's not that bad. My arm got a little sting but it's not bad. Just redness" I said casually but I was surprised when he grabbed my wrist.
"Where?! Show me" he shouted. I glanced at him but showed him the area just so he would calm down.
I could hear how fast his heart was beating.
He took my hand and looked around turning and examining it.
"It doesn’t look bad"
"I know" I replied to him with a raised eyebrow. He rolled his eyes and walked to the shower before turning to me.
"Come here"
As I walked to him he explained how the shower works.
"Move to the right and pull for cold water. Move to the middle and pull for normal water. The left is hot water. Always turn the shower to the right or middle and never to the left" he said as I nodded.
"Why would you want steaming hot water then?" I asked as he pointed to the tap below.
"It's usually for the lower tap. For hot baths, we mix normal water with hot water" he explained.
"Then why can't you just make it separate? Or rather on the tap?"
My question made him frown. He opened his mouth but then closed it.
"Who knows? I am not an engineer" he shrugged before walking out of the room. "I have to go to my office so my brother Malcolm will take you to breakfast"
After that, I quickly bathed. I put on a simple long light blue dress and left my hair in a braid crown. When I opened the door to the corridor I met a familiar guy.
He was leaning on the wall, tapping on the box shape thing called mobile.
”You took your time" he smiled at me, standing up straight.
"Prince Malcolm" I bowed a little to which he bowed back.
"Princess Narah"
He looked at me from top to bottom. It looked like he wanted to tell something but he just walked forward.
"Come on. Everyone is waiting."
We walked to the elevator we went to yesterday. It dinged and opened the door. Once we entered I stood really close to him.
I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself. I hated closed places and the fact that I could feel a small dip when it moves, made it really worse.
"Are you ok?" Malcolm asked probably feeling my tensed form.
"Nothing" I breathed out. Almost immediately the door opened and I walked out without giving him a single glance.
"Are you sure you are ok?" he asked me walking ahead.
"Yes…" I paused before turning to him. "Thank you for your concern"
He looked at me with worry but still nodded his head.
"Ok. So since you told me you are ok…" he gave a small smile before pointing in the opposite direction. "The dinner room is that way"
My eyes widen as I turned to him with an embarrassed laugh.
"Of course. Sorry" I started to walk in the direction he showed.
As we walked to the dining room, he showed me differently around. Tristan had already shown me these places but during that time almost every places were empty.
But now it was lively. There were many people. Children were running and playing around. The place was noisy and happy.
When we walked into the dining room, I was met with silence. The table was not huge like in our castle but it was not small. Almost all the seats were filled.
"Narah" I heard Tristan call. My eyes landed on the man sitting in the head of the other end of the table. "Come" He smiled wide at me.
As I walked to his side I could feel the eyes on me. It was nothing new. I have learned to ignore these stares.
"You can sit here," he said pointing to the empty seat right of him. I glanced at the seat and then at him.
"I politely decline," I said making everyone look at me in shock.
"What? Why?"
"In my land, the right seat next to the king is reserved only to the queen and no one else," I said before walking to the empty seat. It was next to the other prince I met yesterday night.
"Prince Samuel" I bowed at him as I sit in the space next to him. He only bowed his head at me shocked and speechless.
"Narah in our world we do not follow such rules. There is only a tradition where the king should sit at the head of the table. But even if we do follow the tradition there is no need for you to hesitate" Tristan said but I shook my head.
"I am sorry, King Tristan. I will sit here"
Everyone including me jumped as a hand slammed on the table.
"You are my mate!" Tristan shouted. His face turned into that of anger.
"So?" I replied as he let out a growl.
"So you can sit here," he said built I only rolled my eyes.
"Let's not talk more about this. I am hungry" I said before looking at the covered food.
All of a sudden Tristan stood up. We all watched as he walked to his brother.
"Go and sit there," he said pointing to his previous seat. Prince Samuel looked at him and then at me before standing. He sat on the head seat while Tristan sat next to me.
"What are you doing?" I asked raising one eyebrow.
"What do you think?" he grunted opening one of the dishes in front of him.
"Whatever" I muttered before glancing at the others. They all were silently looking at us.
I ignored them as I looked at the food opened in front of me. I found a few things that were similar to mine.
There were bread and honey. There were a few jelly-like things each having a different color. Then there were a few bottles labeled syrups followed by different fruit names.
Another set of box written cereal and beside them was milk.
Everything around smell sweet so I didn’t have to worry much. One of the downfalls of a ninetail is the low tolerance for spicy and sour food.
A small spice flavor is itself too spicy for us.
I took 2 pieces of bread and honey. I have never had such a combination but since it is the only thing I am familiar I had no choice. I then took a glass of milk before starting to eat.
"Wait don’t you want pancakes?" Tristan asked as I looked at him.
"Um…" I looked at the thing he was pointing.
Well, there is no harm in trying so I silently took it and put it on my plate. I then poked the so called pancake and turned it over.
I stopped doing that and sat up straight. I could feel eyes on me.
"Let me help" Tristan's voice rose before a hand came to my plate.
"No. It's ok" I said but he ignored me. He took the bread and with a knife scooped the yellow color jelly thing into one of the bowls. "I hope you like pineapple," he said before spreading it all over the bread. He then placed another one on top of it before giving it to me.
I carefully took the bread from him and opened the top bread looking at it.
"Don’t be afraid, just try it" he said as I rolled my eyes.
"Who said I am afraid?" I took a bit of the bread. To my surprise it was delicious. It was very sweet and was somewhat more similar to one of my favorite dishes back home.
"it's good right" he grinned in success but I ignored him.
He proceeded to take a pancake before pointing to the three bottles.
"Which syrup do you like? Mango, strawberry, or blueberry? Or you prefer honey?" he asked as I looked from one to another.
I only knew how honey tastes but I love mangoes so I opted for that.
He poured the bottle written mango over my pancake before giving me a spoon and fork. I silently took it and started to eat.
I tried to keep my face as neutral as possible. Everyone was looking at me like I was some interesting species and I don’t like it.
I glanced at Tristan who was staring with a smile on his face.
"Stop staring at me. I will lose my appetite" I mumbled directing at him. But I knew everyone heard as they quickly looked away.
They started to take their food and talk to each other.
Finally, I was at peace but I couldn’t help but keep glancing at my mate. He was very distracting looking gorgeous as he ate his food.
I sighed and looked at my plate.
Maybe one day when I am free from my problem I will be able to accept him without fear of losing him.
