(Narah POV)
"How long are you planning to do this" Samuel groaned rubbing his forehead.
I glanced at him and then back at my book.
"It's not like I told you to stay with me."
"Yea but it's not like I came here willingly" he replied making me roll my eyes.
"It sounds like a 'you' problem"
My reply earned another groan from him.
He leaned on the sofa and rubbed his forehead before looking back at his 'phone'.
After breakfast, both my mate and Malcolm declared they have work and left. But before they go, they left Samuel in charge.
There was a strong protesting from Samuel but he clearly didn’t have much choice.
Apparently, he is not that busy with his duty since he had a lot of time partying.
I didn’t want to be babysitted by anyone but I knew I won't be left alone. A guest from another dimension is always accompanied by someone familiar with the culture where they are visiting. Either that or the high king should be convinced that the guest is well knowledgeable of the culture to be left alone.
And in my case I am ignorant. I know nothing about them. And that was why I was determined.
I asked Samuel if he could help me get books of human knowledge. He took me to the library and ever since that time I just surrounded myself in a pool of books about humans and their life.
Many of them were really fascinated. I can't believe I never read about them. They were considered as one of the most under-developed dimensions but the way they compensated and build up their life to our level was incredible.
What fascinated me the most was how they were more free and liberal than us. I always thought they were boring and stupid but the amount of culture and diversity they have is really amazing.
Another hour or two passed and I was snapped from my reading by Samuel. He took my book and closed it.
"Come on. Now I am really fed up" he pulled me up to which I growled.
"Hands off" I shook off his grip and wiped the invisible dirt on my skirt.
I raised one of my eyebrows seeing him stare at me.
"What?"
"Nothing." He raised both his hands and shrug before walking to the door.
"Come on. I have to go somewhere" he said as I sped walked to him.
"I don’t want to come"
"Who said I am taking you sweet cheek" he grinned as I glared.
"Don’t call me cheesy names. I hate it" I growled making him laugh.
"Anyhow. I am going to drop you off with your mate and be on my way. I have a dinner date with a beautiful Ceo and partner" he gave me a toothy smile and I returned a weird look.
He didn’t take the elevator like others but the stairs. When he reached a huge beautifully designed black double door, he knocked it once before bursting inside.
"Look who came to visit!" he shouted walking in all proud. I rubbed my head, entering behind him.
My mate and Malcolm were sitting on the sofa with a pile of files around him.
"What do you want?" Malcolm sighed removing his glasses and pinching his eyes.
"It's 5 in the evening. Company meeting remember?" Samuel said before the three of them looked at me.
"Ok" Tristan stood up and walked to me. "Sit here for some time. I am almost done with my work. Malcolm you can also go. I will take care of the rest"
"Then we will take our leave," Malcolm said before turning to me with a small bow. Samuel on the other hand scrunched his face at his brother's gesture and gave me a nod.
"Thank you for your care, Prince Malcolm and Prince Samuel," I said returning a proper bow.
"You seriously need to stop calling us prince. And also stop these bows and all. It's annoying" Samuel said but he was immediately hit in his head by his brother.
"Samuel, stop it!" he said as the latter groaned and rolled his eyes.
"What I am serious. Do you like being called the prince? People will laugh if they hear that!"
"Samuel, it is in her culture to do those. Respect that" Malcolm sounded fed up by his brother's behavior. "I am sorry about his behavior Princess Narah. Our younger brother is very self-centered and stupid" he turned to me as the other growled.
"Hey! I am not"
I couldn’t help but chuckle at their affection. My eyes went to my mate who looked at his brothers with a small smile.
"Ahhh but I also prefer you don’t call us prince." He turned to me ignoring his fuming younger brother.
"Then…. What should I call you?"
"Names. Just Samuel for me" he said taking a step forward.
But once again Malcolm voiced his opinion.
"You can call us by our name but if you are not comfortable just go with beta Malcolm and Gamma Samuel. No prince. Here we are not referred to as Prince. Our status is beta and gamma. Like Tristan is called an alpha" he said as I nodded.
"Ok then. Um Beta Malcolm" I said pointing to him before moving to the other brother. "Gamma Samuel"
"But I prefer you call me just by my name. I don’t like close people calling me by my honorific." He grinned making me roll my eyes.
"We are not close" I pointed out.
After that, the two of them went and the room was left in awkwardness.
"I am sorry about my brothers. Our parents died when we were young so I spoiled them rotten." He chuckled.
"May I ask what happened?"
He looked at me for a moment before giving a small smile.
"Well, it was when I was 10." He stopped before looking at me. "In your dimension, it's about 130 years," he said making me roll my eyes.
"I know" I muttered. One thing I know about dimensions is the difference in our timeline. If you spend 10 years in our dimension it is just 1 year for earthlings.
Jumping from one dimension to another is usually restricted for everyone except the higher-ups. For higher official,, the time strain doesn’t take a huge toll but it does leave some awful headaches.
"Anyway,, we had an attack. We don’t know what they are but all of a sudden, dark creatures came swarming from the forest completely destroying our pack. Almost half of my pack members died. I was matured enough when they died but Malcolm was 6 and Samuel was only 4. I was the only support they had. We had a lot of hardships. Tyler and mom were the only ones who took care of us. They tried hard to suppress our relatives who tried to acquire our pack. Tyler was not the strongest so he couldn’t fight and defend. At one point we lost our position of the title but when I was 15 I challenged them in a dual and I had to fight to prove my worth at a young age."
He pulled up his sleeves and my eyes widen on seeing scar marks.
I walked up to him and took his hand, pulling the sleeves up a little more.
I couldn’t help it. My heart demands to see it.
As I touched his hand I could feel the sparks but I tried my best to ignore them as I looked at the scars.
His hands had tattoos but I could see the bite and scratch marks.
"Does it hurt?" I asked running my hands through the combined artwork.
"No. I consider it my mark of success. It reminds me how hard I worked to reach my position"
He grabbed my hand and I froze looking up at him. He gave a small smile making me blush.
I took my hand out of his grip and took a step back.
"Oh…" I muttered avoiding his gaze.
"Come on," Tristan said before making his way to the sofa. He sat on the place he previously sat and patted the seat next to him.
I just sat on the other end of the sofa. He raised one of his eyebrows but didn’t respond. I watched as he concentrated on his work.
"Do you always wear glasses?" I asked after some time. I hadn't seen him wear glasses before.
"Only when I work. I get headaches when I concentrate too hard especially on computers." he shrugs taking off the glass and waving it. "It blocks a lot of bright light and helps me lessen strain"
I just nodded my head. If I hadn’t read those books I would have been dumbstruck I what a computer is. Well, I am not completely sure but at least I know something about it.
"I hope your stay here is good"
He didn’t look at me as he said them. He was busy with the papers.
"It's not like you will do anything if I say no" I rolled my eyes.
He sighs, putting the paper down.
"So you don’t like it?" he asked turning to me.
"I am a homely person"
Even though I avoided his eyes I could feel his stares.
"I understand but I am sure you will get used to it." He paused before continuing. "Samuel told me you were reading about earth life"
"Yes. I am anyway staying here for a while so I might as well adjust and get the liberty to walk around without a babysitter" I shrugged as he chuckled.
"Well I am sure you will and I will help you." He said before glancing at me from top to bottom. "Well for starters let's work on your dress."
I raised my eyebrow at him.
"What about it?"
"Don’t get me wrong. You look beautiful but in earth you don’t usually wear these type of dresses. If you need to adjust to earth you need to act like one. Give me a few minutes, once I finish this we will go shopping" He said before concentrating back on his work while I sat there bored out of my mind.
