10 - Brady Feels Bad

1060 Words
Brady      I knew I messed up, as soon as I saw her smile drop.  I shouldn't have made the comment I made about her casting the mate spell.  Hybrids were always a little sensitive when it came to others saying negative things about their spells or abilities.     I could feel the tension immediately form, then Alexandria rushed to wash her hair and body.  As soon as she was done, she stepped out of the shower without saying another word to me.  I quickly finished getting myself washed, then I turned the water off and wrapped a towel around my body.     When I walked back into my bedroom, I was filled with worry, because my mate was nowhere in sight.  I knew I had upset her, but I didn't expect her to get dressed and leave my bedroom so fast.  I was quick to pull on a pair of dark blue sweatpants, then I left to find my mate.     I didn't see her anywhere upstairs, so I headed downstairs, where my mum was quick to inform me that my mate had gone to talk to her aunt.  I was instantly filled with trepidation about what she went to talk about, and I couldn't help but worry that she was asking to stay there instead of staying with me.     I wasn't even halfway to Chelsea's cottage, when I heard what sounded like muffled crying.  Instantly, I sprinted the rest of the distance to find my mate crying on Chelsea's shoulder.  I could see Alexandria's shoulders heave up and down as she cried, and it was enough to break my heart.     I hated that I was the reason for her tears, and I just wanted to make her feel better.  I quickly closed the gap between us, then I pulled Alexandria out of Chelsea's arms and into mine.  As I hugged my mate, I softly murmured, "I'm sorry, mate.  I didn't mean to upset you.  Please don't cry."     However, she continued to cry, and I felt like a horrible mate for making her cry.  I kept my arms wrapped tightly around her for a few minutes, then I scooped her up in my arms and carried her back to my house.       Once I got to my bedroom, I sat down on the edge of my bed with Alexandria on my lap.  I gave her a few minutes to calm down, then I anxiously mumbled, "Alexandria, please look at me."     After a moment of hesitation, she tilted her head back and gazed into my eyes for a few seconds, before she timidly mumbled, "You can't make shitty comments about the spells I cast or about my abilities.  I'm not okay with that, so please don't do it again."     I gently brushed my knuckles over her cheek, as I flashed her an apologetic smile and softly murmured, "Mate, I love the fact that you are a hybrid.  I think it's great that you can unlock special abilities and do awesome things that us normal werewolves can't do."     Alexandria flashed me a weak smile, then she sniffled before mumbling, "Thanks, Brady.  Can we lay down now?  I'm exhausted."     "Of course," I calmly remarked, as I stood up and gently laid her down on the bed, then I walked to the other side of the bed and laid down beside her. After that, I pulled the blanket over us, then I reached over and turned the bedside lamp off.     We laid in silence for a few minutes, then I pecked a kiss on her forehead, before I groggily mumbled, "Goodnight, mate."     "Goodnight," she whispered.       Alexandria didn't even try to get closer to me, and that bothered me a lot.  I didn't want her to stay mad at me over something stupid that I said.  I knew I needed to find a way to make things right, but I wasn't sure what to do at that moment.  I felt horrible for upsetting my mate, and I just wanted to make her feel better.     It didn't take long for me to decide to snuggle to her.  I was determined to show her how much she already meant to me, and I figured what better way to start than snuggling.  Once I had her in my arms again, I basked in the essence of her wonderful scent and quickly drifted to sleep.     I woke up early the next morning with a newfound determination to make her feel special.  I quietly climbed out of bed, then I tiptoed out of my bedroom and down to the kitchen.       Once I got there, I cooked a nice breakfast that consisted of bacon, waffles, hash browns, and fried eggs.  I made a plate for both of us, then I poured two glasses of orange juice, before I carried it all upstairs to my bedroom.     When I opened the door and stepped in, she hadn't moved even the slightest bit since I left the room.  However, it didn't take long for her nose to start twitching in response to the aroma of the food I had cooked.       I walked over to the bed, then I sat on the edge of it with the tray of food resting on my lap.  I reached over and brushed the stray hairs off her forehead and out of her face, then I gently caressed her cheek, while I waited for her eyes to open.     I was glad when I didn't have to wait long.  Less than a minute after I started caressing her cheek, I watched her eyelids slowly flutter open to reveal her beautiful light brown eyes.  I kept caressing her cheek and smiled, as I lovingly murmured, "Good morning, beautiful mate of mine.  I prepared a nice breakfast for you."     She flashed me a sweet smile, as she blinked her eyes a few times to help them adjust, then she looked around and groggily mumbled, "Good morning, Brady.  What time is it?"     "It's time for you to eat this wonderful breakfast," I happily chirped.     Alexandria giggled at me, then she sat up and smoothed the blanket over her legs, before she cheekily replied, "I'm ready for that delicious smelling food."     We sat together on my bed and enjoyed our breakfast, then we got ready to meet Andre and Lacy at their cottage.  Alexandria seemed to be in a better mood, and I was very happy about that.
