The Abused Wolf

Chapter 3: REJECTION?!?!

King Jax frowns and his brows furrow as if he is deep in thought. I'm scared because I think I said the wrong thing. I don't want him to regret choosing me. But he doesn't have to be my mate, I useless and unworthy anyway.

King Jax: I am not rejecting you. You are my second chance, a blessing from the moon goddess herself!"

I gasp! He wants me? This must be a cruel prank. I look up at him again. I'm not sure where all this courage came from...maybe its my wolf.

Angel: My name is Angel, not my wolf." She scoffs.

Abril: I will not let you prank me. I can't be seen by the doctor, I don't want to put his life at risk either. So please just drop it. Let me go back to work and you can take the time to think about if you want to reject me or not."

I shimmy out of his hold. It was a lot harder to than I expected. But who does he think he is! He let me get abused in front of a crowd and did nothing!

I limp out of the hospital and take a breath of relief. Its a long back to my room, but I have my cleaning supplies in there. Luckily I made all the food I needed for the day already and I only need to warm it up. I planned my days like this so I have an easier time getting things done, no one helps me and its a lot of work to feed everyone, let alone clean.

I feel like I have eyes watching me the entire time. I never see anyone when I look, so I shake it off and continue with my chores.

After what feels like hours, I am finally done for the day. I'm washing my hands when I notice the time. 11 pm. Not bad for the day. I actually have time to wash up.

I go into the laundry room to grab a rag from the dirty pile. Yup! I don't even get to have a clean rag. But at least its something right. I walk out the back door and head to the forest.

I still feel like someone is watching me. It feels strange.

Angel: I can't smell anyone. I think we are fine."

Abril: I'm glad you are here to help me now! Thank you."

I start walking faster, its quiet a distant to the river that is in our pack. No one comes up here, the water is to cold for them. This is like my own little slice of heaven.

I see the lake and start to run to it because I'm so excited. I find my tree that I hang my clothes to dry. I strip and start rinsing off my clothes. I'm not allowed soap....so its not much in terms of dirt, but its something at least. Once I get those hung up, I grab my rag and walk into the water.

I wince at the bitter cold as it touches my skin, but soon I grow numb. I get to the middle of the river and I look at the moon, it really is beautiful.

Angel: It is beautiful, just like you."

Abril: Thank you, you are to kind to me."

I feel tears hit my cheeks and i laugh. They don't deserve my tears. I take my rag and start scrubbing my body. The water seems higher than normal. Usually the water hits mid thighs on me, but tonight it is a little over my butt.

I hear a twig snap, I scream and look in the direction it is coming from. My eyes go wide and I try to cover myself up. Its Alpha Trev and he is drunk as a skunk.

Trev: There she is! Look at you, piece of trash! I can't believe anyone would keep you, even as a slave."

Never breaking eye contact, he crouches down and picks up a rock.

Abril: Oh no......." I whisper and start shaking.

I hear a roar coming from behind me, and I feel a thump on the side of my head.

Everything goes black.
