Three

It's been almost a week since I started at my new school. I had made a good few friends, thanks to Emie. Back home Pe had been my favourite subject, I did so well in it that even my teacher struggled to find things that I may struggle on. I don't know where it came from, but I could just handle myself well. That is why I was not surprised by the reaction I got when people at my new school saw my gymnastic moves and the way I tackled the ball off one of the best players in football. I found that Anaya was the head cheerleader and Lennie was on the football team. They looked like a great couple but for some unknown reason, I felt an overpowering emotion of jealousy rage through me when I saw them together. I could not talk to anyone about how I was feeling because even I found it hard to understand. I had never liked a boy this much before, yet we had barely talked. They were pretty much attached to each other's lips, so I was extremely taken aback when Anaya approached me to ask about me joining the cheerleader's team. “So, we're having tryouts for the cheerleading team now that Samantha and Raya have had to quit. I think you have some good moves,” she said twirling a strand of her hair around her little finger and chewing on some gum. “Sure.” I nodded. She looked satisfied with my response and turned to leave but hesitated. “You do look familiar. I don't know why though.” she frowned, looking me and down before shrugging and walking back to her friends. Emie scurried over to me and demanded to know what that was all about. It was not a huge deal, but Emie, Michelle and Sasha did not agree with me. “She said I looked familiar, like I reminded her of someone.” “They are the weirdest people.” Michelle mumbled as we headed to our lockers. Emie linked her arm into mine and started ranting on about how it wasn't worth getting involved with them.
