“Saskia! Where have you been?” Emie shouted down the other end of the hallway as she hurried to catch me up. I could not wipe the smile off my fade and I know that was a dangerous things since I would be questioned about what the hell was going on.
If Anaya found out then she would no doubt want to kill me but I could not help it. This was not something that I had planned.
Never in my whole entire life had I felt such an attraction to anyone, especially a guy.
But Lennie.
He was different.
He made me feel good about myself, when he kissed me it was like heaven. My whole body reacted to his touch and I cannot just stay away from that.
But he had run out on me and left me alone.
How could he kiss me, touch me that way and then just do a runner.
Did he regret what he had done with me?
I could not explain this to my friend since I was worried it would get out of hand, I was sure that I could handle this my own way.
I would find Lennie and talk to him about it.
Emie was still shouting after me and I rolled my eyes as she finally caught up.
“Where did you disappear to? You never even came back to class? Did something happen?” She asked me so many questions but I could not even process that since I spotted Anaya in the distance. I had to get away from her. She would go mad and I bet she would know sooner or later that I had another her boyfriend.
“Saskia. What is going on?” Emie repeated, poking me in the ribs with her school books.
“I can’t really explain it right now.” I sighed, trying to hide my face from Anaya who was almost about to walk passed us.
“Oh, Saskia. There you are. I have been looking everywhere for you. You need to come with me. Now.” She insisted, grabbing my hands and dragging me away from a shocked Emie.
“Let her go you dumb idiot.” Emie insisted, trying to come in the middle of me and Anaya.
“It’s ok, Emie. I will be fine.” I assured her and she looked unsure but stepped aside anyway.
Anaya threw her a dirty look but still kept hold of my arm as we walked away from Emie.
I studied Anaya’s face carefully and prayed that she did not know what I had done. I should feel guilty but I could not.
“What is it?” I asked but she carried on walking and I had to practically run to keep up with her.
“Anaya.” I shouted and she stopped, finally looking at me.
“Look, Saskia. This is not easy for me to do but I have to take you somewhere to show you. It’s important. Please, just trust me.” She said and I nodded.
Feeling curious but also dreading what was going to happen.
Outside the school, Anaya crouched down and pulled me with her, gesturing me to be quiet.
One of the teachers was walking across the playground with a cup of coffee in her hand.
Once she was out of sight and it looked like the coast was clear, Anaya then ushered me to follow her.
It was crazy to run out of school like that but a huge buzz of excitement rushed through me.
We ran hand in hand down the road avoiding oncoming traffic as we crossed over and finally reached a shiny black car with tinted out windows.
“Get in.” She ordered me and I did so, sliding across the seat. I looked up at the driver who was a huge burly man around forty years old. His hair pulled into a man bun and he wore glasses. There was a black wolf tattoo on his neck which I could not help but stare in awe at.
Anaya slapped my hand and gave me a look which caused me to frown.
“Ready?” The driver spoke in a hoarse voice and Anaya nodded that we were ready to go.
He wheel spun the car out of the parking and onto the main road causing another car to slam on their brakes.
Both cars came to a stand still.
Our driver got out and started to shout and curse at the other car driver who shouted back. Anaya jumped out and told our driver to calm down and we would go. I looked out the window and saw him bare his teeth, I was dead shocked by the sight of what looked like canines coming out of his gums.
“Anaya, get away from him.” I screamed at her suddenly so worried for her. He was crazy.
What if he harmed us next?
Anaya glared at me and shook her head.
“Derek is no threat. You will find out soon enough. Enough of this now. Let’s go.” She ordered and Derek got back into the car. The other driver drove off in a hurry and left us to it.
“What the hell is going on, Anaya?” I demanded to know but inside I was scared.
Emie had said something about them being different. I was beginning to think that she was right.
She refused to answer me or look at me. I had no idea how or what I was going to do so I just sat back in my seat and stayed silent until we arrived at our destination.
I opened the door and stared up at the massive building in front of me. I had never seen anything so beautiful in my life. It was like a fairy tale castle. People were everywhere and the minute I stepped out of the car I felt someone looking at me.
Lennie.
