I woke up that morning already dreading the day. The first thought that popped in my head was I had to cheerlead at the football game tonight. How was I supposed to do it when I just don't want to. I got out of bed and decided to head to Shay’s room so I could complain. I didn't bother getting dressed yet I just went to his room in my sweat pants and t-shirt. I walked in right when Marcus stabbed Ian in the stomach. I gasped and hurried over to where Shay was kneeling down in pain. "Nice PJ's" Marcus said, not even caring that he just stabbed his brother. I took the knife out of Ian as he grunted in pain. I got up to face Marcus with a look of outrage. "Come on, was that really necessary!?" I asked him. He put his hands up in a mocking manner. "Easy there tiger. I was just returning the gesture." He said to me before looking at his shirt frowning. I looked down and saw a bloody hole where Ian must of stabbed him. Though he probably deserved it. "This is silk dude, d**k move." Marcus said agitated before walking out. I rolled my eyes and sighed before looking back over to Shay. He had already gotten up and had pulled his shirt up revealing the wound that was already closing up and disappearing. "Nice six pack." I said smirking trying to lighten the mood that Marcus caused. He looked up at me with a smirk before rolling his eyes and going to his closet to change. I flopped down on his bed with a sigh. "So your giving the necklace to Eve at the game right?" I asked him as he put on a new shirt. "Yeah the sooner I can keep Marcus out of her head the better." He said to me coming back into his room. "Well be careful what you say, make sure you don't sound too pushy about it. You don't want to make her think you're being clingy." I said to him sitting up. "Clingy?" He asked me with a look that said 'really?'. I nodded my head. "Clingy, Shay. You should know what that is since you've been a teenager for like almost 200 years." I said to him. He just rolled his eyes at me. "So what did you really come in here for?" He asked sitting on the bed. I frowned remembering why I came in here. "I don't wanna cheerlead." I said glumly. "Than why are you doing it?" He asked me confused. "Well because Eve was all sad and wanted to do it and she guilted me into it...again. And I don't wanna because I'm too lazy but I have too and ugh." I said flopping back down on the bed not even bothering to finish the sentence. Shay chuckled at my dramatics. "Sorry." He said simply before walking out of the room. I stared sadly at the ceiling for a minute before getting up and starting to get ready and putting my uniform on.
Later that night me and Shay headed to the game to meet up with Eve. Ian looked really good in his uniform and I just looked depressed in mine although he told me I looked great, I didn't buy it. When we got there we walked over to Eve who didn't have her uniform on. I looked at her questioningly, wondering if she was gonna change here in the bathroom or something. "Well don't you look hot in your jersey." Eve said checking Ian out. "Thanks. What happened, no more cheerleader?" He asked her. "I quit. I'm a quitter." She said sighing. My eyes went wide. "You quit?!? Why didn't you tell me this before? I'm gonna go change! Yes!" I said starting to jump up and down smiling and heading toward the restroom. "Wait a minute, just because I quit doesn't mean you can't still do it." Eve said to me trying to lure me into staying in it. I just looked at her with a confused look like she was crazy before I skipped off toward the restroom singing "woohoo! Yay! Yes! I'm free!". I heard Ian chuckling behind me and then I saw Max up ahead and ran up and jumped in his arms screaming, "yay!". Max just laughed and spun me around before putting me back down wondering why I was so happy. "I don't have to be a cheerleader." I said happily before disappearing in the restroom to change leaving behind a confused Max.
Later on that night me and Eve were standing in the crowd where everyone was cheering, getting pumped up for the game. I just looked around, not really into shouting and cheering at the moment. Ian was up in the line of football players in front of the crowd. Staton came up on the stage with a smile for once. "Alright, alright, alright, alright." Staton said trying to make the crowd quite down. He started on his little speech and even bragged on Shay but I was too busy looking at Jake, who was sitting on the back of a truck with other kids who were on drugs, acting like he doesn't care. When I turned back around the crowd was still cheering and even Eve joined in a little. I searched through the football players and saw Max looking over somewhere. I followed his line of view and saw Javob heading over to Jake with Tori next to him. I managed to sneak past Eve and head over to where they were. "Don't look so sad. You can always chase her when I’m done." I heard Jacob say. I rushed over there about to stop Jake from doing something stupid but it was too late he had already started punching Jacob.
They got into a big fight and Jake’s so called friends just stood and watched and Tori was just yelling "Jacob stop it!" I rolled my eyes at her and went between Jacob and Jake before they threw another punch. When they saw me they immediately stopped because they knew I would start punching if they didn't. That was another way I stopped fights too. "Break it up guys." I said to them right when Ian rushed over here. A little late Shay. Jacob started to walk away and Ian was right behind him. I looked over and saw Jake pick up a broken glass bottle and was about to strike Jacob. Ian was still blocking the way and I knew he would accidentally hit him instead. Without even thinking about it I jumped in front of Ian and put my hand up just as the bottle was swiped down. The next thing I knew everyone had gasped and my hand had a deep bleeding cut. I looked up and saw Jake with a shocked and guilt ridden face before Eve had pushed him away and started talking to him not noticing I got hurt yet.
Shay came up to me with a concerned face and took my hand. "It looks bad, come on I'll go heal it." He said walking off away from the crowd that had gathered around with me next to him. We went under the bleachers where no one would see us and his face changed. He had deep black veins under his eyes and his teeth had extended to fangs. He bit down on his wrist causing it to bleed and held it out for me to drink. I made a face but leaned in and drank from his wrist anyway. When I was done I pulled away and saw my hand was completely healed. "Thanks." I said sighing. "Your welcome. But Rainy what were you thinking? You knew that I would've healed easily if the bottle hit me." He asked concerned. "I know it's just you would've healed in front of everyone and it would've exposed you and...I just didn't want to see you get hurt." I said sighing.
"Rainy I understand that but listen to me. No matter what don't ever do that again for me. I might get hurt for a second and it might expose me but I don't care about that as long as you're okay and you don't get hurt. Promise me you won't do something like that for me again." He said to me. I sighed again but nodded. "I promise." I said to him. "Good. Let's get back before someone starts looking for us." He said to me starting to walk back. I followed him and some of the crowd was still there. We cut through and saw Max was talking to Jacob and Eve was still talking to Jake. When she saw us she quickly walked over to us with a look of concern. "Oh my god I saw what happened. Are you ok? How bad is your hand?" She said reaching for it. I quickly balled my hand up and shook my hand. "No, no. It's fine." I said to her but she was still trying to hold on to my hand. "Come on let me see how bad it is." Eve said concerned. "No really it's fine." I said to her but she wouldn't give up so I finally opened my hand and Elena saw there was nothing there. "But your hand. I saw the bottle cut you." Eve said confused. I shook my head. "No he missed.it's not my blood." I said wiping my hand on my jeans and showing it to her. "I could of swore it cut your hand." She said to me still confused. I just shook my head and looked at Shay for help. "I saw him miss. It was probably just a trick of the light." He said to her reassuringly. "Yeah, I guess." Eve said still not sure but dropping it.
A little later Eve went to sit on the bleachers because the game was about to start. I was walking with Shay as he headed to the lockers where the other football players were changing and getting ready. "That was close." I said sighing talking about Eve and my healed hand. "Yeah, but I don't think she suspected anything. I hate lying to her." Shay said, sad. "I know, I don't either. But what choice do we have." I said shrugging. Just then Max came up to us outside the building. "Hey." He said to me. "Hi." I said back wondering what he was doing here. "Look I just wanted to say that was really cool what you were trying to do for Jake back there. I saw you were about to stop it before Rainy did." Max said to Ian. "Yeah well he's a messed up kid. He needs someone to look out for him." Shay said back. Max nodded. "I'm sorry for what happened at practice." Max said. "Not your fault." Ian said to him nodding. “Yes it was. No excuses...were really lucky to have you." He said holding out his hand. Shay shook it and Max went back inside. Ian was about to follow and I was about to go back to Eve when we heard clapping and turned around. "Ian makes a friend, joins the team. It's all caring and sharing! Like ‘High school Musical’ right?" Marcus said leaning up against a wall in the shadows before walking over to us. "Not tonight Marcus. I don’t want to start." Shay said about to walk away. Marcus speeds over in front of him in a flash. "Clever move with Eve. Let me guess, vervain in the necklace. I admit I was a bit surprised, it's been a while since I've seen that little trick. Where'd you get it?" Marcus asked. "Does it matter? You can't get inside her head now."Ian said.
"Guess I could charm her the old fashion way steal her from you or I could just... kill her." Marcus said smirking. "No, you're not going to hurt her." I said to him. "No, tiger?" Marcus said to me, smirking calling me the name he did earlier. Great a new nickname. I thought sarcastically. "Because deep down inside there is a part of you that cares about her. I was worried that you had no humanity left inside you, that you actually might be a monster but it’s all an act." Ian answered for me. "Who's acting?" Marcus scoffed. "Then kill me." Ian said. "Well, I might" Marcus said to him. "No, you won’t. You've had years to do it and yet you haven’t done anything, I'm still alive. And you, you're still shadowing me like a dark cloud. You’ve caused me nothing but pain and misery and after 150 years? Aurora and Iris are gone and you hate me because you loved them, and you can’t let it go. That's what makes you human." Ian said.
Marcus paused for a second processing what Shay said. "Shay! What the hell are you doing? We got a game to win! Stop chit chatting with Jackson!” Staton yelled talking about me and coming into view. "Right, if I’m so human could o do this?" Marcus said to us before flashing over to Staton and sinking his fangs into his neck. I gasped about to run over to stop him but Shay held me back trying to stop me from getting hurt. Staton let out a scream, going limp in Marcus’s arms as he died. Staton dropped to the ground and I just stared at his limp body not fighting Shay anymore as he still held me, probably in shock as well. "I kill whenever and whoever I want." Marcus said with blood all over his mouth and his face still vamped out and, without waiting for a response, disappeared.
I turned in Shay’s arms and hugged him crying. I didn't like Staton but he didn't deserve to die. Ian just hugged me back and we walked away still hugging and not saying a word as we went.
Later on the police came. Shay went with Elena and I stayed behind watching the police carry away Statons body with Anna beside me with tears in her eyes as well. I heard that Max had found him after we left and got someone to call the police. Animal control had showed up as well because they pinned it on an animal attack again. I heard Anna gasp from beside me and I looked over to see her with a shocked and upset look. "What's wrong?" I asked her. She simply pointed and I followed her line of view. First I saw the watch on Mr. Statons wrist drop to the ground as he was wheeled away. Then Anna pointed again and I saw the ambulance driver. “My dream vision.” She mumbled.
I was shocked, what Anna saw just came true. I simply hugged her as she cried she didn’t understand what was going on with her. And I knew I couldn't tell her
