Chapter 6

6 Gui Though we usually got VIP lounges at most clubs, The Suite didn’t have any VIP areas available when we arrived. However, after walking around the place for twenty minutes, we found a large table in the back, where you could barely see the dance floor, but was rather close to the bar. As we settled in our seats, Hannah checked her phone. “I sent her a couple of texts, but she’s not answering,” Hannah said, typing on her phone again. “I’m sure she’s just lost in here,” Bia said. She grabbed Garrett’s hand. “We’ll walk around a little and look for her.” Hannah nodded but didn’t stop staring at her phone. “Would you feel better if we went outside and waited for her there?” Leo asked. Hannah nodded again. Leo jerked his chin toward the front doors, and I gave him a thumbs up. Being taller than most in here, I didn’t sit. I leaned my back against the wall beside the table and watched the crowd in search of a blond head. I became tense as the minutes passed. We ordered drinks and French fries. Bia and Garrett came back from their patrol, and Hannah and Leo came back inside. It was clear Hilary went straight home. For some reason, that knowledge didn’t sit well with me. I ordered another whiskey and sat alone at the table while the couples went dancing, and Ri went hunting, as he always said. In a matter of minutes, he would have a girl under his arm, and then he would take her to his apartment. Everyone teased me about being free and flirting a lot, but Ri was much worse. They just didn’t bother him as much because Ri took offense. Nobody joked about him and his many ladies. It was a fact of life by now. I groaned. Why did it f*****g bother me to know that Hilary wasn’t coming? With her problems, she was better off at home, wasn’t she? I didn’t really know. I glanced at the bar, already thinking of my next shot of whiskey, when a trio of girls caught my eye. One looked my way, opened a huge smile, talked to the other two, and they turned to me. The first one scolded them, probably because they weren’t supposed to look while I was looking—Bia and Gabi did that all the time when they were younger. So f*****g annoying. The three of them kept talking, and then the other two were pushing the first one away. After a few more harsh words, she straightened and strutted my way. With a boldness I wouldn’t have guessed she had, the girl slid into the booth until she was only a foot away from me. “Hi, there,” she said with a smile. She was cute. Tanned skin, brown hair to her shoulders, with curled ends, and hazel eyes. I hadn’t stared at her before she sat down, but she had nice cleavage and a somewhat slender figure. A good candidate to brighten my suddenly shitty night. “Hello,” I said. “I’m Rachel.” Her smile trembled. “I’m sorry for coming over like this, but my friends and I have a dare game going on, and well, they dared me to come over here.” “I’m Gui.” I glanced at her friends. They were watching us like hawks. “Well, you came. You won the dare.” She scrunched her nose. “Not quite.” I raised an eyebrow. “Hmm, there’s more to the dare?” She nodded. “What is it?” “I … well,” she stuttered, pressing her hands together. “I have to get you to kiss me.” “I see. And what happens if you lose the dare?” She sighed. “I have to finish their projects in our history class. It’s a huge project.” I chuckled, but my laughter died as Rachel looked at me expectantly. Why was I even considering this? It was just a f*****g kiss. I bet that if I wanted, I could have this girl take me home where we could do more than kissing. However, something made me hesitate. Don’t be a f*****g veado, Gui. I settled my whiskey glass on the table and turned to her. I reached over, cupping her face, and leaned into her. She sighed as my mouth fell on hers. She parted her lips and let me in without hesitation. Yup, if I wanted, I could sleep with this girl. I explored her mouth, while my other hand explored her waist. I kissed her intently and deeply, and when I pulled back, for a brief second, I was shocked to be looking into hazel eyes—not green. “There,” I said with a grin. “Now you won the dare.” I turned back to my drink and stared out at the dance floor. The girl humphed then scurried away to her friends. I felt bad for being such a freaking jerk to her, but I knew I would feel even worse if I had done more with her. After a while, Ri disappeared completely, and Pedro and Iris came back to the table to order more drinks and fries. And I simply stood, bid them good night, and left. I went straight home to my bed.
