Finally, Aiden spoke up, “So in a nutshell, you’ve been shunned because you’re a turned wolf and us natural-born werewolves have a superiority complex where we think you are beneath us and we’re afraid you won’t be able to control your wolf and will eventually turn feral and expose our kind? Did I cover all the bases?”
Serena rocked backwards at his question. He’d pretty much summed up her dilemma.
The mere fact she was a turned wolf had been the reason she was ostracized from the werewolf community. And yet this alpha and beta didn’t even seem to care.
“Um. Yeah. That’s pretty much it.”
Aiden’s eyes narrowed. “Sounds to me like you’ve survived years on your own with only your wolf and you haven’t turned feral yet. Am I right to assume you have control of your wolf?”
Serena swallowed once. “I wouldn’t say that I have control of her. Not to say that Sasha is out of control either. It’s just that we are more like partners. We are all each other have so we help each other survive,” she concluded on a shrug.
He nodded before glancing at his brother. He wore a similarly understanding expression and Serena’s heart raced in her chest.
“I’ll be honest with you,” Aiden began, “I’d already reached out to your old pack and learned most of this for myself. Of course, your old alpha put a certain spin on the events as you can imagine, but I’m not too surprised about that.” He uncrossed his legs and leaned forward, his hands clasped between his knees. “I want to apologize for the treatment you’ve received from the werewolf community up to this point. It was extremely unfair on you as you had no choice in being turned. You were attacked and to survive such an attack so young and to continue to survive on your own for all these years is remarkable. I want to assure you that this pack is different and you will be treated fairly here.”
