Serena’s heart soared in her chest, thumping loud enough that she was positive everyone in the room could hear it.
Calm down. Sasha said finally making her presence known.
Do you not see how close we are to having a new place to live? How can I remain calm? Serena countered as she waited for Aiden to continue.
“Were you talking to your wolf just now?”
Serena nodded her head in the affirmative. “Yes, she was telling me to remain calm. She can sense how on edge I am awaiting your decision.”
“I’d like to meet her and hope you’ll join us on our next full moon run.”
“You want to meet my wolf? You’re not afraid?”
"Of course I want to meet your wolf. I like to get to know all the members of my pack.”
Serena’s face broke into a huge smile without her permission. No one had ever willingly wanted to meet her wolf before. Sasha could be a bit intimidating. “Does that mean we’re members of your pack now?”
Aiden glanced at Alaric again, who just shrugged. “I don’t see why not. There will be a probationary period of thirty days, of course, but barring any unforeseen issues, we’d be honoured to have you join the Silver Lake pack.”
Serena released the air she hadn’t been aware she’d held in her lungs as her shoulders slumped and she felt Sasha do the same within her.
Finally, after all this time, it looked like they were going to have a safe place to live.
“So, when can you move in?”
Serena’s mouth fell open at Aiden’s abrupt question. She hadn’t expected things to move so quickly. Truthfully, she was still shocked she’d gotten this far. That an alpha had actually accepted her into his pack knowing what she was and genuinely didn’t seem to care was mind-boggling. It was a lot to take in in such a short amount of time.
“Um. Tomorrow?” she finally said.
“Sounds good. You’ll find that I tend to be decisive and hate wasting time. Once I’ve made a decision I act on it. In addition to running this pack, I also oversee several business ventures. That’s how we are able to enjoy the level of luxury we’ve grown accustomed to. Now I’m assuming that since you’ve spent the past few years mostly on your own you would prefer to live in a packhouse rather than here in the mansion.”
