Once they reached the third floor, Alistair walked them down a short hallway and knocked on one of the doors.
They heard a gruff male voice call for them to enter and he opened the door.
“This is where I leave you, but feel free to come and find me later,” he said smugly with a wink before turning around and walking off.
Serena shook her head, the ghost of a smile on her face. It felt foreign. She couldn’t remember when last she had reason to smile and wondered if everyone else was going to be as friendly as Alistair. Sasha was thinking the same thing.
Serena took a fortifying breath, turned and walked into what looked like an office and came face to face with the alpha.
Aiden was tall, as expected, with the broad shoulders and heavy build you’d expect from a man who could attain and then retain a position like alpha. What was unexpected was the wide smile across his face. What was even more surprising was when he walked around his desk to greet Serena.
“You must be Serena West. I’m Aiden Blackwood. It’s nice to meet you. I hope you found the place all right.”
He held out his hand for Serena to shake and she did, although hesitantly.
Truthfully, she wasn’t used to alphas being this friendly - at least not to strange werewolves that showed up on their doorstep asking for a place in their pack.
