Chapter eleven

After an entire day of parading my mate around like he was some kind of trophy was getting to me. All the men wanted to shake his hand, ask him questions, and have him train them because of his size. The woman wanted to cling to him, drool lustfully over him and and glare daggers at me for being his mate. In which I responded with growls and snarls. The children however I found more than adorable. All they wanted to do was play and use him as monkey bars.  "I think I'd rather stay around the kids." I muttered annoyed, turning my head and glowering at the crowd of women gathered behind us. "They are harmless love, pay them no mind." Klaus told me as he laughed with the children. His laugh was deep and rumbling, sending shivers all the way down my spine and heat to pool between my legs. How something so mundane could arouse me so completely was beyond me but it didn't change the fact that it did.  I am not the only one that found his laugh attractive and alluring because the women started making those weird fan girl screeches that hurt my ears. "You know what. I've had enough." I fumed. I shot up from my position beside Klaus and raced across the lawn to the crowd of 'fan girls.' I allowed my claws and fangs to lengthen as I reached them. "Leave." I commanded. I didn't use my alpha tone, I wanted to see how many I could get to leave of their own accord.  They all shank back away from me but stayed put. One brave soul shoved her way to the front of the group and glared at me with her hands placed firmly on her hips. Her face was caked with so much makeup I was pretty sure no one knew what she actually looked liked. "And who are you to tell us what to do?" She snarked. "Still don't see how you got a mate like him while I am still mateless. Maybe he isn't even your true mate, maybe he was chosen for you." Her high pitched laughter hurt my ears.  I was not amused. I wrapped my hand around her neck, my claws digging into her skin drawing blood. "Klaus is my true mate." I seethed. "No one chooses anyone or anything for me. And should you dare defy me again, I will not refrain from clawing your makeup crusted head from your body."  Her eyes shone with fear, but the rest of her face was impassive. "Ha" she croaked. "No one like you could get a mate like that." I growled. Her condecending tone grating on my last nerve.  Klaus's large hand landed heavily on my shoulder. I looked up to see his face hard and his eyes narrowed at the girl in my grasp. "K..Klau..Klaus help m..me." She whimpered in a poor attempt to flirt while I had her in a death grip. Klaus just shook his head. "You have over stepped your bounds pup. What my mate chooses to do with you I will support." His tone was cold enough to freeze water. I just smiled darkly as I turned back to look at the wolf in my grasp.  I closed my hand tighter around her, my claws digging deeper. "I suggest all of you ladies make yourself scarce." I said through clenched teeth. "Or else you will be next." They all looked at the girl's blood soaked clothes and back to me. Their eyes wide with fear, they took off running, leaving the girl under my full control and alone. "Now. Do you care to withdraw your statement?" I asked in with mock sincerity. "I..I'm so..sor..sorry." She managed to say with choked breaths. I nodded at her in recognition of her apology, but still wanting to punish her, I hurdled her across the lawn. She hit a tree and a sick crunching sound could be heard.  "Now." I said with boredom as I acted as if my nails were the most important thing in the world. "Next time you dare question my mate bond or drool so openly over what is mine, I'll kill you." I stated and turned and walked away, not interested in whatever she had to say. I didn't like being so mean, I didn't like showing my dominance unless absolutely necessary. Lately though it seems as if I've had to demonstrate my authority more and more.  "Love, what is it that has you so on edge?" Klaus asked as he pulled me into his arms. I wrapped my arms around his abdomen and buried my face into his very muscular and chissled midsection. "I've never like asserting my dominance, I like to give everyone their free will. It was never comfortable for me to take those choices away. But lately it seems I've had to do just that more and more. And just then when I didn't use my alpha tone, I was not given the respect I was born to receive and it pissed me and Jade both off."  Klaus ran his fingers through my hair in what felt like a reassuring way. "You're an Alpha Willow, your wolf in an Alpha. Both of you were born to lead, to demand respect when it is not given. Don't feel bad about that. Though I love that you want to give your people their free will, there are some situations where there is no room for it if you want to get something done. And to be honest, you need to start asserting yourself more, especially since you'll be taking over your pack soon. They will need a strong, assertive, dominant leader. One who they know beyond a shadow of a doubt they can depend on." I tightened my hold on him and sighed. 'You're right." I finally said pulling away. "I need to show them who they are dealing with and tonight will do just that. Are we going to tell them what kind of shifter you are?" I asked as we made our way back to the pack house.  Klaus ran a hand through his shaggy brown hair causing some of it to fall into his beautiful golden eyes. "Yes."He said solemnly. "We don't have a choice. Just as well as you, they must know who I am and who they are dealing with." A large smile formed on my lips as I wrapped my hand around his waist. I still couldn't believe how tall he was. I was only five foot two inches tall, so he stood a good two feet above me. Hell I didn't even clear his shoulders, I only came up to the bottom of his chest. Don't get me wrong, I loved that I was so much smaller than him, it made me feel protected. As a wolf however, Jade towered three feet over him making her a good 10 feet on four legs.  "Willow." I heard Gabriel call from the front steps of the pack house. We were still clear across the field but my enhanced hearing made his voice loud and clear. "We're on our way." I mind linked him, not really wanting to scream across the field. "The banquet will be starting soon, hurry and get here." Was his reply before cutting the link. I furrowed my eye brows together in confusion. Gabriel sounded angry, and concerned he once took an angry tone with me.  With that in mind I took off across the field, reaching the pack house in seconds. "Gabriel!" I called frantic. When no answer came I rushed to his office barging through the door. When I found his office empty as well I began to panic. I ran through the large pack house, searching room by room, having to apologize several times as I busted into an occupied room.  Every nerve ending in my being was on high alert. Using my heightened senses I stopped and listened. I could hear, the birds outside, other wolves making love in their rooms, I could hear the scurrying around of the Omega's in the back yard. Voices, so many voices flooded my hearing, but none of them were Gabriel. Tears prickling my vision I made my way out back in a rush. I brushed passed Klaus who was looking at me worriedly. I couldn't stop to explain or console him, only motion for him to follow me.  Bursting through the pack doors I stopped dead in my tracks. There stood Gabriel, in the dead center of the gathered pack members with a large s**t eating grin. The back yard was covered in twinkling fairy lights that were woven intricately along every branch and every tree trunk in sight. Round tables with shinning gold table cloths were set up all over the yard where pack member would sit. Four larger tables with bright purple table cloths the color of my eyes sat in the center. One table covered with every type of food you could imagine. Another was set with drinks that ranged from punch, to soda and alcohol. Then the one with desserts of all kinds and the last with gifts.  When I noticed the banner that ran across the trees above Gabriel's head I gasped. In gold lettering among a purple back drop was "Happy Birthday Willow!" This whole time they had been planning a surprise birthday party. I ran and threw myself into Gabriel hugging him to me. "One, never scare me like that again. And second, thank you." I said both sternly and gently.  "I am sorry I had to scare you like that Willow, but it worked and you were surprised." He said amused. I just shook my head at him. When Klaus stepped up beside me I swatted his chest playfully. "Did you know about this?" I asked chuckling. "What can I say." He smiled pulling me into his arms. "I'm a sucker for surprises." I smiled and reached up pulling his face to mine and kissed him deeply.  Klaus hauled me up to his height and I wrapped my legs around his waist. This I had to admit was an easier and more comfortable way to kiss him. Hearing a throat clear behind us, I pulled away from Klaus and laughed as he set me back to my feet. "Happy birthday my love." He whispered against my lips.  "Before we begin our festivities there is an announcement to make." Gabriel said and motioned for Klaus and I to step forward. Taking my place beside Gabriel I took a deep breath. "All of you know me as Willow, I've never revealed my surname or origins to you. My full name is Willow Marie Silverclaw. I am the natural born daughter of Alpha Elijah Silverclaw. I am the first female Alpha." Mummers and whispers resounded throughout the crowd. "Impossible" "Liar" "Power hungry" "w***e"  Finally I heard enough, and Jade had had more than enough. She surged forward, her large form almost instantly taking shape. She howled, silencing the crowd of shifters who dare question her and her lineage. When the wolves saw her wolf's massive form they cowered back into one another. "All of you dare question me. I will not be questioned, disrespected or let you dirty the name of Silverclaw." I forced the words into their minds. "You will give me the respect my title demands, if not I will force you to submit." I warned them.  Everyone quickly bowed their heads, showing me their necks in submission. Jade smiled as she watched them submit, and retreated within my mind sated and happy. Shifting back fully clothed I grabbed Klaus's hand. "My mate Klaus is not a wolf." I told them. "He is a dragon shifter Alpha. This will be the first inter race mating our world has known. But with me being the first female Alpha it is to be expected. He will be treated with the respect and dignity his title demands." I said harshly, running my eyes over every female wolf.  Everyone nodded "In three months, I will be going to reclaim my pack and my birthright as Alpha of the Silverclaw pack." Gabriel stepped forward and placed his hand on my shoulder. "And when this is achieved, Willow will take over the Red Moon pack. With our lands connecting we will merge into one large pack, becoming the largest and most powerful pack in the country."  I gasped at this new information that was announced. "Gabriel, are you sure about this?" I asked. When he turned to me his eyes shinned with pride. "You Willow, are my daughter and an Alpha. There is no one I would rather have take over for me than you. You will make our pack strong, and Klaus and myself will be by your side to help you."  I beamed up at the two most important people in my life, then remembered Damon. "Damon." I yelled. He ran up to me eyes filled with glee as he took me into his arms. "Willow, I can't believe you never told me." He said with mock hurt. "Sorry Damon, keeping my secret until I was ready to reveal it was necessary. But We are getting off topic. You are a strong warrior, easily one of the best in the pack and my best friend. I want you to be my Beta." I informed him smiling.  His jaw dropped and eyes widened. "What?" He gasped in surprise. "I want you to be my Beta." I said again. Damon threw his arms around me again as he bounced up and down. "Thank you, thank you, thank you." He all but squealed. I peeled myself off of him and once again faced the crowd. "I will announce my gamma once the packs are merged. Now, go. enjoy the banquet." I said waving them off.  Everyone dispersed to their prospective tables, whispering among themselves. I ignored them as I spent my time with Gabriel, Damon and Klaus. I was determined to enjoy this party and there was no way in hell I was going to let weak narrow minded pack members ruin it for me.
