I swear this day was even more busy than the actual act of getting the pups home. Families from all over the pack wanted to come and meet me, thank me, hug me, ect, ect. All I wanted to do was go home, even the pups that were coming with me were getting annoyed. I know they were just trying to show their gratitude but come on, did it have to take so long.
Ezekiel on the other hand was relishing in the attention we were getting. Jade, Eve and Emerald were regarding him as if he were an animal in a zoo. We were all private creatures, we didn't like being in the spot light or having a lot of attention placed on us. Ezekiel however was the complete opposite. He loved the attention and recognition. He loved being put on a pedestal and having people basically worship him.
"Ezekiel, that's enough." I told him. "We have to go. I have a mate to get home to." He snarled. "Ya, you have a mate. I can't believe I was placed in a woman." He grumbled. I understood where he was coming from. Having been placed in a female vessel he couldn't have a mate of his own, Klaus was supposed to be all our mates, but Ezekiel just so happened to get the short end of the stick. "I'm sorry Ezekiel." I told him sincerely. He shook his head with a smile. "No worried young goddess. I couldn't ask for a better vessel. You are strong and powerful. You have empathy, you have the strongest and most sensitive soul I have ever come across. You don't take anything from anyone. You don't accept disrespect and never let people hurt or threaten your family. So don't worry about me, we are all a part of one soul. He may not be my mate, but I'll protect his as if he were my brother."
I couldn't help but smile. I continued talking to them in my mind as I gathered the pups together. Emerald didn't fee like walking with all the pups the entire way home so she decided to open a portal to get us there faster. I couldn't blame her, not after the past few days we've had. We were still tired and worn out from frighting, shielding the pups and the long walk back to Mason's pack.
"Mason, we really need to be going now. I have a pack to run." I informed him gently but stern. He gave me a curt nod before turning back to his pack. "Alright everyone Alpha Willow needs to get back to her pack. We will be joining her pack soon so all of you will get a chance to see her again soon."
The excitement that danced in everyone's eyes was astonishing. Why was it such a big deal to join my pack? Yes we were large and very diverse but otherwise we were no different than any other pack. "They are there for you Willow." Ezekiel said with boredom. "You're a powerful alpha, the most powerful. And our pack has impenetrable, especially with the dragons. No one would dare attack us. Well except for demons and whatever darkness is growing."
I sighed. Of course he was right and I couldn't deny people who were seeking safety or sanctuary. I may not be a queen yet, but what kind of ruler would I be if I denied people? or turned them away? That would make me a terrible ruler. "You're too kind Willow. The day will come when someone will try and come into the pack that wants nothing more than to bring you down. What better way to that than from the inside?" Ezekiel warned. "Zeke, I can't just turn people away. But how will I know if someone is an enemy? From now on we will keep an eye on new members. We have enough warriors for them to start making rounds around the pack to keep an eye on the members. If anything seems off we will take it from there. How does that sound?" He seemed to be thinking it over before finally agreeing. "Should anyone threaten our pack however, I will deal with them." He warned me. I shrugged "Fair enough."
"Come on Willow let's go." Emerald whined. I chuckled "Fine, open the portal." I turned to Mason and smiled. "We'll see you soon. Safe journey." We then ushered all the pups into the portal before stepping through ourselves. We landed right in front of the pack house and I couldn't help but release a relieved sigh. It felt so good to be home.
What I didn't notice however was the crowd of people who had somehow known to come and wait for us to get back. Jade started laughing in the back of my mind. Of course it was her I thought. Klaus made his was to me and pulled me into his arms and kissed me hard. I melted into the kiss, wrapping one arm around his neck and the other tangled into his hair. "I missed you." He whispered against my lips. I smiled and leaned my forehead on his. "I missed you too."
A tugging on my shirt pulled my attention away from Klaus. I looked down and saw Hunter staring up at me with sad eyes. I picked him up smiling. "What is it Hunter?" I asked gently. He kind of hid his face in the crook of my neck before speaking. "Is that my new daddy?" He asked shyly. I laughed "Yes honey this is your new dad." Hunter slowly lifted his head and looked at Klaus. I couldn't imagine how intimidating a seven foot man was to such a small child. Hunter didn't seem to mind though. His reluctance soon turned into excitement. He jumped out of my arms and into Klaus's, his small body colliding with Klaus's. Klaus caught the boy with a wide smile. "Well hello there Hunter." He said.
Lyra came and stood at my side and watched the interaction between Hunter and Klaus. "I'm glad he has a dad now." I looked down and saw her frowning. "What's the matter Lyra?" She hung he head. "I won't lose him will I? Hunter I mean." I knelt to he height and smiled "Of course not. He will be your brother now. You two will be together for a very long time." I assured her.
She smiled so bright I swear I could never make her as happy as I jut did. She hugged me tight "Thank you mom," She whispered. I swear my heart stopped beating and swelled twice its normal size. I never imagined myself with a child, at least not for a few more years, but here I am with two and I couldn't be happier.
