Chapter twenty three

1286 Words
My life was quickly turning to chaos. More and more supernaturals had come to join my pack, hearing how the daughter of the goddess was the Alpha. I had guessed they believed they would be safer with me than with their own packs or clans. I naturally didn't turn anyone away. I accepted them and ushered them out giving each and everyone of them a job to accomplish. With so many new members more and more homes were needed.  Emerald was helpful in this area, teaching me how to conjure the homes into existence. I could only do so much though being new to my power, but I did the best I could. With the new influx of members the pack income had tripled, making buying everything the pack needed easy.  "Alpha." Ryland called from behind me. I turned to him tiredly. I was completely and utterly done with this day. Taking care of thousands of supernaturals was all consuming and drained every bit of my energy, my magic the only thing keeping me on my feet. "Yes Ryland?" I asked, not really interested in what he had to say. "The Elder Council is at our southern boarder asking to see you." his face was pale, all color long gone. I on the other hand just groaned. "What do they want?" I questioned. "I don't know Alpha, they asked to see you directly. They seem to have a small army with them."  I groaned again. "I know what they want. Escort them to my office please." I said as I turned to walk away. Now, now of all times they show up. It was eight at night, most of the pack was at home spending time with their family and getting in bed. With training being at five in the morning, almost the entire pack was in bed by ten pm.  When I walked into my office I was met with the best sight I had seen all day. Behind my desk sat Klaus, he was pouring himself into the Alpha's paperwork. My chest filled with warmth, he knew I was spread thin and needed help, so he decided to help by doing the one thing he knew I hated doing. "Thank you my love." I said softly as I rounded the desk to plant a gently kiss on his cheek.  Klaus pulled me onto his lap and kissed me softly. I wrapped my arms around his neck and rested my forehead on his, breathing in his amazing and unique scent of musk and brimstone. His presence always calmed and comforted me, his scent soothed all the tense and rigid muscles I had gained throughout the day. "Alpha, I have arrived with the el.. uh, excuse the interruption." Ryland said, his face red. I chuckled. "You're not interrupting Ryland. Please tell them to come in." I said standing and smoothing out my clothes.  Klaus stood tall beside me, towering over me like a giant. I couldn't help but smile at the height difference between us. As the Elder council entered my office each of them took turns bowing to me in respect. "Good evening. To what do I owe the pleasure?" I asked politely. "Alpha, please forgive our sudden and unannounced visit. We decided to accompany the warriors here to see how the pack was coming along. It seems that you have grown your pack exponentially. Please tell us how you managed to control the largest mixed race pack in the world."  I sighed heavily. Of course they wanted to know how I gained my power. "Did you not receive the world wide mental message I sent out?" I asked somewhat annoyed. "of course we did." The prickly elder John responded hotly. My eyes narrowed at the man. "If you wish to disrespect me Alpha John I will be more than happy to have you escorted off of my territory." I threatened. John snapped his jaw shut at my words.  "To answer your question I can only assume they all came here because they want to be under the daughter of the goddess hoping that they will be safer here with me. I have bent over backwards to accommodate them and make them feel welcome. And under no circumstances are you going to come here and jeopardize that. Some of these people came here from abusive and cruel situations and you will not make their trauma worse. Do you understand me?" I asked harshly.  "Of course Alpha. It is not our intention to interfere with your pack. You are meant to be our queen one day. You are a goddess in your own right being born of a goddess. We meant no disrespect."  Nicholas said speaking up, since the rest of the council was frozen to their spot. "How is mother doing?" Klaus asked his father. The man sighed rubbing the back of his neck. "Well, she took your absence hard at first. After I explained to her that you have found your mate and the situation surrounding her she was overjoyed. She is thrilled to meet you by the way." Nicholas said turning to me. I smiled, it would be an honor to meet the woman who raised the love of my life. "I would be happy to meet her." I said happily. "Maybe soon we could come for a visit and could all spend some time together." I said looking up at Klaus. A clouded look filled his eyes. "How does that sound my love?" I asked almost hesitantly. He smiled down at me but it wasn't the usual bright smile he had always wore. "I would love to go and spend some time at home." He said in a daze.  He was hurting, longing to go home. How could I not have noticed this before? How could I be so blind as to not notice my own mates unhappiness? I hung my head. "I'm sorry." I whispered. I felt Klaus's eyes as they bore into the back of my head. Using his finger he placed it under my chin and turned me to face him. "For what my love?" I shook my head, freeing my chin from his gently grasp. "For being so oblivious to your longing for home."  "You have been busy with our growing pack, you have no need to apologize." He said reassuringly. "How long will you all be staying?" Klaus asked turning to his father. "We will be leaving in the morning but will leave the warriors here to help the pack train. How many warriors are you up to now Alpha?" He asked me. I thought about it for a minute. "Well, we have reached a little over eight thousand members about three to four thousand being warriors. Both men and women alike are training." I informed him. "Well, looks like this darkness will have a hell of a fight." He said amused. "Especially with more and more joining you everyday."  I nodded solemnly. "So it would seem." I said exhausted. I leaned into Klaus who help support me. "Beth." Klaus yelled. The small omega rushed in the door bowing in respect. "Yes Alpha Klaus?" She said. "Take these men and find them a room." She nodded her head. "Please follow me gentlemen." She spoke gently.  One by one they followed her out as she led them to their rooms for the night. I could honestly care less where they ended up sleeping. They could sleep in the storage shed for all I cared as long as I could go shower and go to bed. "Come on love, let's get you ready for bed." Klaus said gently. Now that's the best Idea I've heard all day I thought.
