Chapter twenty two

What the hell just happened? Why were they all just suddenly thrown away from me? And what the hell within me would hurt my mate? My other half? My anger rose again with the thought and I closed my eyes taking deep calming breaths. I couldn't let Klaus get hurt again, I couldn't be the cause of his pain.  My attempts were in vain though, because when I looked up the world was tinged in scarlet reds and deep black. I stood to my feet mechanically, as if my body was under another's control. I could sense the fear coming off of them, could feel Klaus's terror. "Willow? Baby what's happening?" He asked softly as he cautiously made his way towards me. Clover whipped her hand out stopping Klaus in his tracks. "Klaus don't" She warned. "Willow is coming into her witch power. The time a witch first comes into their power is their most vulnerable but most unstable time. Her power is chaotic, unstable and unpredictable. She is dangerous until she gains control."  Her words however didn't register with me. The only thing I could focus on was that she was stopping my mate from coming to me, and that sent me into a new kind of rage. I growled, the power reverberating around us. The ground shook violently, the epicenter being under Clover. She tried to move but I had fused her in place. Terror filled her features. "Willow, please don't do this." Clover pleaded as the threw her magic at me in an attempt to stop me. Her attempts were futile, I could kill her in the blink of an eye, but something in me didn't want to let her die so quickly and painlessly. No it wanted her to suffer, it wanted to hear her screams.  That thought zapped whatever was left of my mind into hyper drive. "NO!" I shouted grabbing my head. "I will not hurt my family, my pack." I roared into the sky. A joyous laugh filled my mind. "It's about time." She mused. What the hell? My head was crowded enough now there is another. "And who the hell are you?" I fumed. "I am Emerald, your witch. You are special Willow, most witches do not have a voice to guide them. They just come into their power with no help. I am the first witch, the mother of all witches, the original."  Her tone was happy and filled with such joy it was hard not to fall pray to the feel of it. "Why are you in my head?" I asked. She sighed softly. "So little you know. Your lycan is the original as well and your vampire will be the same. You will be the vessel of the original creatures of the night, the very first of the supernatural world. More power than you can imagine will fuel you and merge with the power you already contain."  My head was going a million miles a second, trying to process the information that was just thrown at me. Four beings, all connected to me on some unseen mystical way. Four beings to guide and teach me on this journey. But why me? Why not just come on their own? Then it hit me. They are the originals, which means their mortal shells had died and in order to stop the darkness they needed a being strong enough to contain them and control not only their powerful essence but their powers as well. Powers no one person should ever possess but somehow I was chosen to do so.  "Very good child." Emerald praised. "With the little information given you have managed to not only connect the dots but complete the entire plan. Your soul and essence is powerful in its own right. Add to that power the power of three original beings of the night and you will be unstoppable as long as you learn control." I shook my head in defeat as I looked up into they eyes of those around me. They were scared and worried. I gave them a reassuring smile. "It's alright guys. My witch decided it was a good idea to test me and see what my true intentions were, but there is no power that can make me hurt my family, my pack." When I looked over to Clover to apologize, her face was scrunched up in confusion. "What is it?" I asked her exasperated and tired. "Witches don't have intentions or voices like werewolves. They come into their power and learn to control it, no being in our heads, no voices. Your power should just be something you can feel and control, something that reacts to you and your emotions." She explained.  I sighed again as I rubbed my temples. I was not in the mood for this. "That may be the case with born witches." I said a little more sternly than I meant. "The witch within me is a totally separate being that has fused and merged with not only my soul but my being. The very essence of myself. She is the very first witch, the original. She is Emerald." I tried to explain.  "My vampire will be the same. Him or her will be the first vampire, the original just as Eve is the original lycan." All eyes were on me now. Wide as saucers. Some held fear, concern, reverence. "It's not possible." Clover whispered. I huffed in annoyance. "Would you like to speak to her and see for yourself?" I asked suddenly bored with this line of conversation. Clover eagerly nodded her head. "Yes. I would love the chance to speak with our mother." She said excitedly.  I closed my eyes. "What do you say Emerald?" I asked. Her joy filled me. "I would love to speak to my child that helped the other half of my soul." I nodded and retreated back and gave control to Emerald. I had to admit it was nice to just rest for a minute. To not have to answer questions, to not have to make decisions or feel responsible. I did however stay close to the surface, curious as to what was being said.  "Hello my child." Emerald said as she opened her eyes. The voice that spoke though was not mine. It was her voice, the one I heard within my mind. "Willow, your eyes." Klaus whispered. Emerald laughed. "I was named after the intense emerald color of my eyes. Willow's purple eyes are unique, a sign of god hood. Her essence is powerful, she is meant for so much more, her eyes are just an outward appearance of that. Her power will grow until she has reached her maximum potential, it is then she will be transformed into a goddess. The goddess of all supernaturals. Her power will be equal to none."  Their mouths hung open, as did my own. This was news to me, no one had said anything to me about this and I was frozen in both fear and anger. Why would they keep something like this from me? I didn't understand. UGH! Why can't I just be normal. I whined. "Now my dear Clover." Emerald said turning back to her. "I am so proud of you daughter. You have helped the other half of myself, prepared her for when she was to come into her power. Your selflessness is inspiring." Clover's eyes misted with tears as Emerald approached her and pressed her hand to Clovers chest.  Clover went slack, her eyes rolling into the back of her head and her head falling backwards. I screamed as I watched. "Don't worry willow, she is not harmed." Emerald spoke to me in my mind. "I am gifting her her own guardian, her own voice and new power. I am fusing her energy to my blood daughter." I was stunned speechless yet again as I watched events unfold.  Clover's head jerked forward as she stared at Emerald. "What did you do?" She asked breathless. "Your selflessness has been rewarded my child. You are now fused, merged with my blood daughter Sage. She will be your guardian, your friend and your new power."  Emerald did not give her a chance to respond before she face the two guardians. "There is only so much we can do. Willow will be in danger until the vampire comes forth. You are to protect her with your lives, it is what you were born for. Should you fail I, I will find you in the afterlife and make what is supposed to be your peace your own personal hell. Do I make myself clear?" The two men showed no fear in her intimidating presence, but I could see the terror in their eyes. I actually felt bad for them. I'd have to talk to Emerald. Should anything happen to me and thy died in the process then they did their duty, they protected me until their last breath, which is far more than I could ever ask for. They would deserve their peace.  "You are too soft Willow, too generous." Emerald said aloud. "But I will honor your wishes. I will let the guardians have their peace should they die protecting you." I sighed in relief, but watched as the guardians eyes went wide when the realization of her words hit them. A small smile hit their lips as a new respect and determination filled their eyes and being.  "Klaus." She said turning her attention to him. "Willow has hidden much of herself from you in order to protect you from the demons of her past. Appreciate her, love her and never hurt her. Do not push her to share her past with you, do not make her release her demons, it may not end well." She warned him. He nodded at her, but I could see the pain in his eyes. Emerald had a point though. What I went through as a child, the things I have done to other werewolves just to gain answers, gain closure. I was ashamed of what I'd done. Innocent wolves had been brutally killed, massacred in my rampage for answers. I was ruthless, merciless and a total monster. I quickly shook the thoughts from my head, refusing to relive any of the past. Emerald was right, there was no way I could share that with him. He would look at me differently, possibly reject me.  "It is time for me to go, I must return control back to Willow. All of you must stay true to Willow for her to be able to win this. She loves all of you dearly, ever you guardians. She accept you the moment she heard of your existence and felt your presence. She trusts you, don't make her regret it." They all nodded in understanding before closing her eyes and returning control to me. "Thank you Emerald." I said warmly. "You are very welcome my child. I will always protect what is mine, and you are mine. My child, my friend, my soul. We are forever connected." I smiled, loving the idea of having not just one beloved friend but four.
