We drove in complete silence. Not that it bothered me, I preferred silence over awkward small talk. After the events that unfolded today I spent the drive watching the men whom I share the car with. Landon had almost his entire body side ways facing out the window. I could see his reflection through the window, showing large rounded eyes that were puffy and red. He had been crying at some point of this journey. His body trembled slightly, and his shoulders heaved heavily with each breath he took. Poor sap. It may not be his fault he was bastard born, and it may not be his fault he was at the very least a gamma, but even then our gamma was hard and mean. Well at least he was other than with me or Gabriel.
Speaking of Gabriel, his body was tense. His hands gripped the steering wheel so tight his knuckles were white. I was worried he was going to snap it at any minute. He stared out the windshield watching the road as he drove. Deep creases filled his features as he mulled over what had been revealed to him. I could see the heartbreak and betrayal in his eyes although he tried to mask it. Gabriel was a tough, cruel and merciless alpha. He tolerated no disrespect, no one dared step out of line when he was in a bad mood.
Now that's not saying he was mean or cruel when it came to the pack, on the contrary. He was fair, lenient, and forgiving depending on the crime in which you committed. Betrayal of any kind either got you death or a lifetime in the cells, but with it being his luna this time, there was no telling what was going to happen. I knew he had to be fair, he couldn't give her special treatment just because she was the luna, and I knew him well enough to know he wouldn't dare do that. But that didn't mean his heart was breaking any less. Trust was everything to him and once you've broken it, you never got it back.
At some point in time I must have dozed off because I woke to Gabriel gently shaking me to wake me up. "We're here Willow." He said softly. I opened my eyes yawning. As I stepped out of the car, I stretched my limbs from where we had been cramped in the car all night and day. It was dark outside, and guards stood off the side of us ready to escort us into the large rounded building. I held back the urge to roll my eyes. Why did we need escorts? We weren't criminals.
Grabbing my bag from the trunk we followed the guards through the building. To say I was unimpressed was an understatement. Everything was blindingly white. Not an inch of building had any other color to be seen. There were no pictures, not tapestries, hell there weren't even any windows, which made Jade and myself extremely uncomfortable and closed in. "I don't like this." Jade told me warily. "I don't either." I said as we continued our tread through the building.
We finally stopped in front of a door that guess what? Was white. A small golden B3 was set in the middle of the door. "This is where you'll be staying for your visit." One of the guards said impassively as he unlocked the door. Giving the guard a hard glare I shoved passed him and into the room. How dare he take such a tone with their visiting alpha? I was not speaking of myself of course, but of Gabriel. He deserved to be treated with respect and dignity, not indifference.
Again the room was all white, the only color being the red sectional that sat in front of a fireplace. Off to the side were three doors, of which I assumed were our bedrooms. I made my way to one, throwing my bag down on the floor and fell into the bed. Exhaustion washed over me and I fell into a dreamless sleep.
The next morning I was again woke up by a banging on the door. I groaned. Why must people always wake other people in such a manner? It was beyond rude. But remembering where I was I just rolled out of bed and made my way to shower. I really didn't want to smell of sweat and exhaust fumes when we met with the elder council.
When I finally walked out the door and into the main living space I plopped down on the sofa beside Gabriel, who was looking into the fire as if it had all the answers. "Gabriel? Are you alright?" I asked tentatively. He looked over to me and gave me a sad smile. "As alright as I can be." I wrapped my arms around him in a side hug, hoping to be supportive and let him know I was here for him. He patted my arm softly. "Thank you Willow." His voice lacked its usual authority and power. Upon further investigation he looked drained and pale, but somehow I knew it was not all due to what happened with Belle. He was worried about the meeting.
Our breakfast was brought to us in our room, which only made me dislike this place even more. So what? We were not good enough to all eat together? Was this some hotel where we ordered room service? If so where was my menu? I thought sarcastically. "Willow keep your cool before we meet them." Jade warned me.
After what felt like hours we were finally called to the council chambers. It was a round white room that had mahogany bench like seats surrounding a platform that held three chairs and a desk, which was where we were led. I was starting to feel more and more like this was some kind of sick trial.
As we entered the room, I caught the most delicious scent. It smelled of musk and brimstone which you would think was an odd mix but somehow it worked. In front of us sat five men in black robes. Beside them were men that looked to be around my age, which I was assuming was the elders children. That's when I found the source of the smell. Beside the man who sat in the center of the group was an impossibly large man. He looked to be roughly seven foot tall and as wide as I am tall. Muscles rippled and bulged under his white button down shirt. His brown hair looked like melted chocolate while his golden eyes swirled. He stiffened as my scent reached him but otherwise showed no outward signs he was affected by me. I kept my eyes on him as we took our seat, only looking away when someone began to speak.
"Alpha Gabriel." The man in the middle spoke sternly. "You were brought here today because of the poor excuse of an alpha heir that is your son." I held back a smirk as I looked over to a wide eyed Landon. "He is not fit to take over your pack, and because of this we believe you are no longer fit to be alpha." My head snapped back to the man who dare speak of my father this way. "The way you have raised your son to be soft, weak, timid and fearful is deplorable and for this you will be punished."
Gabriel stiffened beside me. Looking over to him I actually saw fear in his eyes. This caused my anger to rise. "For this heinous turn of events you Alpha Gabriel, and Alpha heir Landon are sentenced to death." That right there threw me over the edge. I growled ferociously blocking the way for the guard to get to Gabriel. "Willow stop."Gabriel urged in defeat. "No." I growled out. "I will not lose another father." I turned to the elder council who were now looking at me in shock and anger. "Stand down warrior." Another man said using his alpha tone.
I laughed darkly as I turned to him. "That won't work on me." I said darkly. "And I will not allow this. If I have to tear each and ever one of your heads off I will. You will not punish Gabriel for a crime he did not commit." I seethed.
From the corner of my eye I saw another guard head towards Gabriel. With a growl so powerful it shook the walls I whipped around Gabriel, grabbed the guard by his throat and threw him into the mass of council member. Gasps and whispers broke out among the council. I face them, barring my elongated fangs. "Shut up." I bellowed, using my own alpha tone. They tried using it on me, why not use mine on them. Not that I thought it would work. But I was shocked. Everyone did in fact shut up. Not a sound was heard as I glowered at them.
"You will not take another father from me. Alpha Gabriel adopted me at 8 years old after my pack was attacked by rouges and my father was killed. I am proof he knows hoe to properly raise an alpha heir reguardless of gender." The council just stared at me in shock, unable to speak or even move at the amount of power I radiated. "You will not take him. Take Landon, I could care two shits less about him, but I will never allow harm to come to Gabriel. You don't even know why this poor excuse of a wolf is the way he is and it has nothing to do with Gabriel. All you old pricks think you're so high and mighty because you consider yourselves elders when all you are doing is playing judge, jury and executioner. You are no better than the rouges I've spent my life killing. Power hungry bastards who would do anything to get and keep power." I snarled.
I released some of the hold I had on them, letting them speak. "Who are you wolf?" The man in the middle gasped. "I am none of your business." I replied flatly. "Very well." He said reluctantly. "Then tell us how this pup is the way he is." I looked back to Gabriel whose eyes were shinning with pride. He gave me a curt nod, telling me to go ahead. "His luna cheated on him, having a child with a gamma. And this." I said pointing to Landon who was all but crying now "Is the result of that betrayal." I stated.
All eyes snapped to Landon who cowered behind me. I rolled my eyes, shoving him away to face the council, but keeping myself firmly planted in front of Gabriel. "Is this true mutt?" The man asked coldly. Landon nodded furiously. "Very well. Guards take the boy away. He is to be sent back to his pack where him, his mother and the gamma will be stripped of the title and banished."
The guards quickly drug a screaming Landon from the room. I smiled darkly as I watched them. "Now back to you young lady. You may calm yourself, we no longer mean any harm to your adoptive father. What pack were you born into?" I looked at the man speaking, searching for my signs that he may be lying to me, but found none so I took my seat beside Gabriel never letting my guard down. "I hail from the Silver pack." Again whispers erupted from the council, but my eyes were on my mate. He was smiling as he looked down at me. Pride, longing and desire danced in his eyes. "Who was your father?" The man asked taking my attention from the boy back to him. "I will not disclose that information." I told them flatly.
"Then tell me why you keep looking to my son." It wasn't a question. I glared at them man but answered anyway. "He is my mate." They all gasped and their eyes widened. My mates father on the other hand looked at me with greed. "Then you shall come home with us, where you can be with him." I couldn't help the laugh that escaped. "Ya, that won't happen. I have business I have to take care of." I said. "And what is that?" I sighed, trying very hard not to let my frustration get the best of me. "I am looking for the rouges who killed my father, and now that I am 18 I need to go back to my pack."
"Show us your wolf." The other man said. I scoffed "No way." I said crossing my arms over my chest in defiance. The man growled lowly, which caused my hackles to rise as I growled back. We were in a fight for dominance, one both of knew I'd win. He backed off but anger creased his face. "Is there anything you can tell us about yourself?" The man in the middle asked exasperated. "My name is Willow, I am 18 and was born into the Silver pack under alpha Silverclaw. When the rouges attacked when I was 8 Alpha Silverclaw told me to run and not to stop until I found another alpha. That is when I found Gabriel. He rushed back to my pack to find they had survived, but barely. Alpha Silverclaw was killed among a hoard of others leaving me an orphan so Gabriel took me in. That's all I can give you."
"Very well." The man in the middle sighed. "Then my son, your mate shall accompany you back to your home where you can get to know one another." I thought about it for a minute as I searched the boys face. He pleaded with his eyes for me to agree. "Fine, but at least tell me his name and race because I know for a fact he is not a wolf. How I could be mated to another race is beyond me but I am not complaining, I am sure an alpha such as him will be a worthy mate." The mans eyes filled with pride. "My name is Nicholas and his name is Klaus and we are dragon shifters."
My mouth fell open. Dragon? I was mated to a dragon? Where in the history of shifters has this ever happened? "I know what you are thinking." The man said amused. "Never has there been an inter race mating. This is new to all of us and is a situation that will be researched thoroughly." Nicholas assured me. I nodded standing from my seat. "Since this meeting" I said emphasising the word. "Went by faster than expected are we allowed to return home?"
The men all looked at each other whispering and conversing among themselves before looking back to me. "You are dismissed to return home." Nicholas said standing and leading the council away. Klaus was the only one left behind and in no time at all he was in front of me and taking me into his arms. "I have spent the last five years searching for you." He whispered in my ear. Once over my initial shock I returned his embrace, loving the way his arms felt around me. His body heat seeping into me and filling my very essence. I nuzzled my face into the crook of his neck and breathed in his scent. "You've found me now." I replied softly.
