Two months, two damn months and it felt like I was no closer to helping than when I started. I knew in the back of my mind it wasn't true. New homes were being built and with everyone helping we were close to completing the first five of them. The clinic was updated and filled with everything the healers would need for the wounded. Seeds were bought so the pack could grow their own fruits and vegetables. Money was sent to every family in the pack to help them with anything they may need.
See the previous dickhead alpha may have been greedy and kept all the money, but he never used it. Since all his needs or wants were met by the pack, he had no use for the money except keeping it from the people. That was a very good thing. Had he spent the fortune my family had spent their lives accumulating I don't know where we would be with rebuilding the pack.
Speaking of rebuilding. I decided it was in the best interest of the pack to redo the training grounds. I had the length of three average football fields cleared. On each corner of the field had reinforced steel beams that held up an awning type roof. That way we could train in any weather. Not that we wouldn't train in all weather anyway, they had to learn endurance in any weather, but since a lot of them were still rebuilding strength i figured it would be best to take it easy for a while. I am also requiring all people to participate, including the females. No way would I ever allow the women to be helpless again.
A knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts and I sighed. "Come in." Uncle Ryland came in, closing the door softly behind him before sitting in the chair across from mine. "How is everything going?" I asked as I separated all the paperwork into finished and unfinished piles. "The women are slowly starting to come our of their rooms, though they steer clear of any men that are not family. The men are training hard with the warriors from the Red Moon pack, all of them are angry and determined to never let something like that happen again. The homes are finished except for the furnishings and appliances and the pack has already started on some more homes."
I nodded and massaged my temples as I listened to the report. "Alpha, we have to find a way to get the women involved. I understand after what happened they are scared and withdrawn, but if we don't try they will never be the same again." My head snapped to him and I narrowed my eyes. "Regardless of what we do the women will never be the same. No one is ever the same after going through what they did, we just have to get them stronger. Get all of them together, let them decorate the interior of the homes. That way they have something to do and they are together and away from the men. We can slowly start getting them comfortable around the men but we will not push them."
"Yes Alpha, I understand." I nodded and stood from my desk. "I will be making rounds around the territory. I already have a few witches and a few healers who are willing to join the pack, they will be here in a few days. Once the witches arrive be sure to have them placed into a home together, they prefer to live with their own. The healers will be housed within the apartment above the clinic by their request. They want to be available whenever they are needed." Uncle Ryland bowed his head in respect and walked out behind me,.
"You are doing an amazing job Willow." Uncle Ryland said softly. I ran a hand through my hair and sighed "It's harder rebuilding than I thought it would be. I am glad we have made the progress we have, really I am. I just feel like we should be further along." Ryland placed his hand on my shoulder and turned me to him. "Willow, it's only been two months. You have made remarkable progress with the pack in such little time. The pack already love and respect you. Don't sale yourself short." I smiled, his reassuring words making me feel much better about how the pack has moved on. But what about the women?
"We could mind link them and ask them to meet us in private." Jade said. "That's a great idea Jade." I replied happily. "All women who have been abused my the previous Alpha and his warriors, please meet me in the pack house dining room. Everyone in the pack house please leave so I may have a meeting with the women." Loud and timid and weak voices alike replied with a resounding "Yes Alpha." Making me smile. "Klaus, I am going to have a meeting with the women. Can you check on the progress of the warriors please?" I asked through our link. "Of course my love. Be easy with them, they are afraid and hurt still." I smiled, he cared so much about this pack already. "You know I will be darling." and cut the link.
I sent Ryland away to get reports from the boarder patrols. Making my way down the stairs and into the pack house dining room I could feel and taste the fear in the air. It was so palpable I had to stop in my tracks and remind myself how to breathe. These poor women weren't just scared, they were petrified.
As I entered the room all the women shrank back into one another whimpering and crying. it had to be the power that comes off me that is scaring them. I closed my eyes and focused on my energy, imagining myself placing it in a box and sealing it until I needed to open it. When I opened my eyes back the women were all staring at me with wide fearful eyes. "Please, you have no reason to fear me. I mean none of you any harm, I promise you. I wanted to find a way to get all of you intergrated back into the society of the pack. Now don't worry, I know you are not ready to be around the men. I have decided that all of you should design and decorate the newly built homes. That way you will all be together but also contributing at the same time.
I know what all of you went through was unimaginable, cruel and you feel like it has broken you. You all can get through this, you may not be the same as you were before but you'll be stronger and more resilent. Everyone, including women must train now so this never happens again. I have a female warrior coming to train all of you personally, that way no man will be touching you. How does all of that sound to you?"
I was eager and worried at the same time to hear their thoughts. Eager because I wanted them to become stronger, to overcome their pain and their past. I was worried because I didn't want them to think that I was pushing them too hard.
When a tall red headed woman stepped forward, her head held high and shoulder squared I smiled. Yes, she was trembling a little and her eyes were glossed over with tears but she was trying to be strong. "Alpha, I never want to experience what happened to me again. I want to be stronger, I want to be able to fight should it come to it." She shook her head looking down, her shoulders shaking with her sobs. It broke my heart.
I walked over to her and pulled her into a tight hug as I rubbed circles on her back and petted her hair. She clutched onto me as if I were the only thing holding her to the ground. "Sh, now. It's alright." I cooed. "You are strong, you are brave, and you are beautiful. No one can take that from you." I pulled away from her and made her look me in the eyes. Her eyes were a beautiful forest green, the tears there making it look as if her eyes were filled with a forest covered in the morning dew. "What is your name?" I asked her. She sniffled a little before answering. "Amelia." She said. "But my friends call me leah."
I smiled at her and tucked her hair behind her ear. "Well leah, I am here now and I promise I will protect all of you. None of you are alone anymore. If you need anything find me and I will do my best to help. If you just need a hug and another woman to talk to, find me and I will be there. You, all of you are stronger than your past, stronger than what happened to you. And I have a surprise for you."
I beamed at them while each of them looked at me worried but excited. "The men that hurt you. I have them locked in the dungeon. They are there for you to take your revenge and get closure. They will all remain chained down with silver while each of you take turns doing whatever you want to them, let your wolves get her revenge as well."
Each woman's eyes filled with fire and rage. "Take us to them. Please." Amelia said, her voice hard. I smiled a malicious smile as I led them to the dungeons. There chained to the wall were all the men that had ever dared lay a hand on my people. They had been starved for two months, making them weak and vunerable. "Alright ladies, do your worst." I said opening the door.
The women piled into the cell, each of them beating, kicking and clawing at the men. After the women got it out of their system, they each shifted into their wolf. Their wolves, they were frightening. Each of them seething with white hot fury. Between the fear of the men and the anger of the wolves the air was suffocating. Screams echoed throughout the dungeons as the men were slowly and agonizingly ripped apart.
When they finished and body parts, bones and pieces of flesh covered the cells they turned to me. Their ears lay to the back of their head in a showing of meaning no harm. Then one by one each wolf bowed the top half of their body to me. A form of respect shown to any wolf who has fully and undeniably earned the respect, admiration and loyalty of another. I smiled, fisted my hand over my heart and returned their gesture. "Come, lets get you all cleaned up and fresh clothes put on."
As I led the women out of the dungeons each of them made their way either home to shower or to one of the pack house showers, and I couldn't help but think that we had taken a step in the right direction. The air around the women was more confidant, more assured. Now all we need to do is get them strong, mentally and physically so they will be able to protect and defend themselves.
