Third Time's a Charm

729 Words
Chapter 3 - Present Doubts and more doubts tormented Samuel's mind, preoccupied with things that unknowingly others already knew as the fact that his powers were increasing was no surprise to anyone who could feel it clearly, even if he tried to hide.  And more than anything else, this was what worried Joseph the most as he could feel the man's anxiety more than anyone else, even though he didn't know how it was possible as Samuel wouldn't feel the same way about him, the Elder Wolf yet felt worried about his other half. At several times, he had thought about telling the Wizard to relax, to not worry too much about it because everything would flow naturally to him as it should from the beginning in the right time, but such words never left the older male's mouth as his presence always seemed to leave Samuel in a hard position since the first time that Joseph tried to tell him that they were Mates. ... The Hybrid seemed to have built a barrier between them, instead of trying to believe what he was telling him could be true... Joseph couldn't explain how, but he was sure Samuel was his Mate, he could smell it perfectly when the Wizard entered the same environment as him since the first time, he saw the Hybrid with his grandson, and of course, a lot of dilemmas went through his head on that day, mainly because all the signs were there, even if his Mate's heartbeat wasn't... The Werewolf couldn't yet hear the noise that some years ago gave him so much pleasure when it returned to his chest, and according to Andrés and Harley, his line was yet broken too, indicating that his other half was dead as everyone knew, but he didn't want to believe that, he didn't want to think he could be crazy and everything was part of his imagination as the Wizard liked to say. After all, Fate lines could be manipulated by spells, and Joseph knew it very well after coming across Elizabeth's affair with Harley back in the days where no one could even think that Kristian and Jackson would be Mates in the future... He could clearly remember how long it took for the she-wolf feel that the Warlock was truly her other half, so he could only hope that the same would happen to them, that one day, the spell cast on them would crumble down, and Samuel would finally see that he was telling the truth... "You should give him some time," Andrés spoke as he sat before his friend on the kitchen island. "He would never believe you if you keep going so strong on him." He shook his head as he saw Joseph acting in such lost way, very unlike from an Elder Alpha as he keeps ignoring Andrés while he finished talking to Harley, who by his request, called to warn that Samuel had just left his place to go back to the Pack's house. "... I'm giving him some time." Light brown hair was brushed back as the Werewolf returned his attention to the older Warlock in his presence. "But every time I try to help him, he believes I will talk about being his Mate or Soulmate and runs away from me." "Do you think he feels anything too?" As if he were a sixteen-year-old again, Andrés was curious to learn more about this as It wasn't a secret to anyone that the Warlock loved dramatic stories, and unlike his brother' and Elizabeth' situation, he didn't know who was right in this new drama that was unfolding before his eyes. "Maybe? But I'm not sure." In a sad voice, Joseph answered him, going back to what he was doing earlier. "C'mon, Jo! Don't be like this!" The Latin man soon tried to cheer on his longtime friend, using an old nickname from the time when they first met, and both were yet young, like the Elder wolf's current appearance. "Besides, don't they say third time's a charm? I'm sure everything will work out between you and him at the right time." Even if he didn't know if he was right, this was the third time Joseph had felt his Mate in this lifetime, so both just wanted to believe it would be true for the Elder Alpha's happiness...
