A Wrong Night With My Father's Best Friend

CHAPTER 4

-I WANT YOU AS MY LOVER-

Nina blinked her eye lids severally, she could not believe it. There is no way that the guy she had a one night stand with last night is her father's best friend. This coincidence is wild but it made quite some sense since they were almost agemates.

" Hi Robert, thank you for honouring my invite. "Charles said, shaking his hand with a warm smile gracing his face.

" The pleasure is all mine," Robert said. He tried to act calm and collected because he too could not believe it. How come that this is possible? This woman bent his rules for us here. Damn, did he really make love to the daughter of his best friend? This is f****d up. How will things move on from here?

" I know the two of you have never met before but allow me to do a little introduction. Meet Nina, my only daughter. I love her so much and I would literally kill for her," Charles said with a huge smile plastered on his face. What he didn't know was that the two of them had already met.

" Hi Nina, how are you?" Robert asked, acting innocent and that is when Nina got the courage to go and shake his hand.

" I am fine. Nice to meet you Robert," Nina said shyly before taking a step back. All this time she kept convincing herself that this was not real but it was. It's true, she had a one night stand with his father's best friend.

" Now that you are here, I was telling Nina that I want her to work closely with you, you can be her mentor. She is going through something and I think working for you would be a great distraction which will eventually make her heal," Charles suggested.

" Are you sure about that? I think that she can work well here," Robert countered. He did not want to repeat the same mistake that happened last night. He really respected Charles and valued his friendship hence the last thing that he wanted was for him to have another night with his daughter.

Rejecting her as a mentee really got to Nina. Why was he saying no? Didn't he love the night that the two of them shared? At this point, she was not thinking about the consequences of their actions, she was thinking with her heart, not her brain.

" Come on, you are a better teacher than me. Your company is also doing so well. You graduated from Harvard. You have a lot to share with her." Charles insisted.

" It would be such a pleasure to work with you. I can learn so much from your company," Nina said this and it caught Robert by surprise.

She really knew how to push the right buttons. From here, how can he really say no to her? He can't. Plus he can't deny what happened last night. That was the best night he had in years since his worst nightmare happened.

" Great, it would be a pleasure to work with you Nina," Robert had to accept and this made both Nina and her father happy.

" Thank you so much," Nina thanked him.

" So, when will the two of you start working together?" Charles asked and Nina was so quick to answer.

" I don't know what you guys had planned but I would really appreciate it if he would take me to his company and give me a tour of it so that I can start work tomorrow," Nina said. She really couldn't get over him, she wanted some alone time with him.

" We had a discussion, I am really sorry that your request has to wait," Robert tried to stand his ground. He was the adult here and he had to be logical. They could never date again, Charles was his best friend and he never wanted to lose that because of this affair.

" Forget my plans, we can always reschedule. Go with Nina. She needs to start work urgently. I am not worried about her because I know that she is in safe hands when she is around you,"Charles said.

" Let's go," Nina said. She felt that she needed to let things out of her chest. It was clear that he was trying to avoid her and that did not sit right with her. He said that he had a great time with her then why was he rejecting her?

Robert was the first to walk out and Nina followed suit after kissing her father goodbye.

Robert didn't know how to face her. There were so many emotions running through his body especially now that they are alone .

" I found your note and the money," Nina said with a smile as she got inside the car.

" Oh you did, great," Robert said, avoiding eye contact with her. He was trying to do the right thing but she was not helping him do it.

" I want to go to your house, forget the office. I want us to continue from where we stopped," Nina said what she felt. She couldn't take it anymore. She wanted him to make love to her.

" Are you seriously asking me that?" Robert implored. He was never going to have something going on with her. He was not about to risk his friendship with Charles. Plus, he has a past that he wants completely erased in his mind. Being in a relationship was not going to help.

" I want you Robert, I know that you want me too. Don't deny that. I can see it," Nina insisted. She was not willing to give their relationship up.

"I really respect your dad and I can't go on with the relationship. Please, l want to mentor you, don't ask for more," Robert begged.

" You made me feel what no man has ever made me feel. To be honest, I am not willing to give up what we have. I want you both as my lover and my mentor," Nina said.

" What about your dad?" Robert asked.

" Leave that to me," Nina said. She didn't have a plan just yet but she was going to work on it.
