Chapter 10: Absent

“Luci?” I called in a small voice.
“Hmnnn” He turned to look at me, his face looks worried.
“Thank you,” I said.
I am really grateful for his help. If not for me, I might still be lying in the alley ground until this morning. Or maybe some bad guy will see me and who knows what they will do to me?
I am still wondering why my captor just left me in the alley? Not that I want him to bring me with him or something. But that was his chance to do something bad to me right? But he didn’t! So what’s his reason of doing that?
I won’t hurt you
Yes he didn’t hurt me, so does that mean he just really want to warn me that I am his?
It’s bullsh*t!
If he wants me so badly, then he should just have introduced himself to me, and make a move right?
That could have been easier!
“No, I didn’t do anything much, there’s nothing you should be thankful for, I just did what I have to.” He said before giving me a small smile.
I pursed my lips as I breathe deeply.
I removed the seat belt and gather my things.
Lucian dropped me at my apartment. I did sleep at his place. I am so thankful that he has several rooms in his penthouse. And I do understand why he brought me with him at his penthouse. His place is just 2 streets away from my apartment. So it is practical for him to bring me there than to find a motel or hospital that is miles away from here.
“I’ll go ahead. Thank you.” I said that made him chuckled.
He nodded at me.
When I went out of his car I stood in front of the building of my apartment and waited for him to leave. But he just stayed there and stared at me.
“I’ll go when you’re inside.” He said before giving me a warm smile.
I breathe deeply before I nodded at him.
I turned around to go inside the building’s door but also glanced back before I entered..he was just there and just watching me.
When I was already in my apartment, I sat on the floor and just stared at nothingness.
I suddenly missed my parents. When I was young and I am afraid of things my Mom would always hug me, and my Dad will kiss the back of my hand to calm me.
Now, I got no one!
And I am so scared!
What should I do? I am so sure that he will come back again!
He is sick! He is a psycho! Why of all people though..why me?!
I burst into crying. I cried myself until I fell asleep in the cold floor. I just woke up because of a call.
Without thinking, I answered the call while I am still on the floor.
“Ms. Brown?”
My puffy eyes grew wide! Sh*t I totally forgot! I have a work today!
I immediately sit on the floor and tried to fix my hair.
“H-hi, Travis.” I tried to calm my voice so he won’t notice that I have been crying, though my voice is obviously not normal.
“Hey.. are you okay?” I can hear his worry and I nodded as if he can see me.
“Ahmnn,, y-yes. Sorry I didn’t notice the time.” I said even though I have no idea what’s the time already.
“I think I will be late-” I added but then my eyes grew wide when I saw the time. It is already 11 am!
I slept for a long time on the floor! That’s why my body is aching!
“Ms. Brown, you should just take a rest today. You don’t have to report in the office.”
“No Travis, look I’m sorry I was..I was.. Uhmn.. I was n-not feeling so well this m-morning. But I can go later after lunch.” I said wanting to smack myself! I promised myself that I will have a perfect attendance but look at what happened?! Because I was so emotional this morning, this had happened
I really hate that man!
“You don’t have to, and that’s an order.”
“But-“
“Look, actually it is a good thing that you are not here because I have to go somewhere with Mr. Soleil so I won’t be able to monitor you.”
“Ohhh..” that’s all I was able to say.
I don’t know if it is a good thing or not.
“Okay, I understand. I’m sorry again.” I said sadly.
“It’s okay, don’t mind it.”
“Okay, thank you.”
“And Ms. Brown..”
“Yes?”
“Please have a good rest. I know you are not okay…”

The next morning I was in the office as early as 6:30 AM. I want to be here even before Travis arrives. I just want him to know that I am really serious about my internship. I even bought Starbucks even before I come here, I will give it to Travis as a sign of apology.
I was already in my station when Paxton came.
My lips parted.
What is he doing here?
“Hi!” he greeted. His cute dimples are showing off.
“Hey..”
“You’re early.” He pointed at me in a teasing way.
“And so are you,” I answered back before giving him a small smile.
“I’m always early since I always come here with my Dad.” He shrugged.
I nodded.
“I just saw you, so I decided to come here and say Hi.” He said before giving me a boyish smile.
I giggled.
“Good morning.”
My head snapped fast to where the voice came from.
“Hey, Travis.” I greeted him back with a shy smile.
He nodded at me before looking back at Paxton.
“Hi Sir.” Paxton greeted Travis.
And Travis just stared at him.
I know Paxton can feel negative energy since I am also feeling it.
Paxton cleared his throat and looked back at me.
“Uhmnnn.. I think I need to go.” He said, looking disturbed.
“Yeah, I think you should,” Travis said in a very serious voice that made me swallow.
The way he said it offending, but Paxton won’t be able to do anything about it since Travis is the Secretary and left hand of the CEO, even if Paxton is a son of a Director here.
“See you later.” Paxton said before he left and I just gave him an apologetic smile.
“See you..”I said, I’m even not sure if he heard what I said.
When I turned to look at Travis, he has a smirk on his lips but it was gone the second that he saw me looking at him.
