Chapter 19

Chapter 19 

I woke up and look at the clock to see it says 5:00 am. Ugg I gotta get up in an hour to get Addie off to school I groan to myself.  

“Alex” I say shaking him a little to wake him up. 

“hmmm” he groans 

“You have to get up and leave” He opens an eye raising his brows at me in confusion. 

“I don’t want Addie to see you here like this. Not yet atleast” I say 

“Ok I get it, I’m up” Alex replies 

“You promise? Cuz I'm going back to bed for the hour I have left before I need to get up for the day” 

“Why don’t I go home and change then come back and bring Addie to school for you? Alex suggests 

“I don’t want to inconvenience you Alex, I'm used to my schedule, its ok.” I reply  

“Hayley its not an inconvenience, shes my daughter too and honestly I would love the time with her. WE could make it a regular thing. You get her up and ready for bed then you can go back to sleep for a few hours.” 

“Ok, if you're sure that would be nice.” I say smiling 

“Great I’ll be back at 7:30 to drive her to school, I'll talk to you later babe.” Alex says as he's throwing on his clothes. He kisses me before quietly heading out.  

After lying in bed for 15 minutes after he left and not being able to fall asleep, I decide I'll just get up. I go prepare my coffee then head to the bathroom to freshen up. After grabbing my coffee, I curl up on the couch with a throw blanket enjoying the peace and solitude before I have to get Addie ready. 

FUCK I don’t know if he used a condom, I say to myself. It’s fine, I'll just go to the pharmacy and get a plan B. I gotta remember to call and make a doctor's appointment to get on some birth control.  

“Addison it’s time to get up for school” I say peaking my head in her room. She doesn’t respond like usual. I go over and open her curtains letting in the morning sun. 

“Ugg Mom I'm not ready, 10 more minutes,” 

“No Addie you don’t have 10 minutes, its time to get up. You had the whole day off yesterday. Now get your butt outta bed.” 

“Fine” Addie groans sitting up in her bed.  

“Pick out what you want and meet me downstairs, I'll get your breakfast ready. Oh by the way your father is coming to pick you up and bring you to school.” 

“Really?” Addie asks excitedly 

“Yes really, unless you don’t want him too” I state 

“No! I do” She says smiling 

“Great then you better get ready, he will be here at 7:30” I say as I leave the room. I head downstairs to prepare breakfast. I think I'll make chocolate chip pancakes. 

Alex’s POV 

I got back home to see that Laura was up already. I walk up to the front door of my house. It’s a modestly nice size 4 bedroom house. Not overly huge, just the right size. I open the front door and walk around to the kitchen seeing Laurain there baking something. 

“Good Morning Laura, thanks for staying the night on such short notice” 

“Oh Alex its no problem, I love getting to spend the time with Liam. He is like the grandchild I always wish I could have.”  

Laura and Trey never had the chance to have children before he died and Laura never was with anyone else. Always said Trey was the only man for her. 

“If you don’t mind staying with Liam some more, I promised Hayley I would take Addie to school for her.” I say sheepishly 

“Of course I don’t mind, you enjoy some time with your daughter” She replies smiling 

“Thank you” I say as I bring her in for a hug. 

I head upstairs to my bathroom to quickly shower and change before I have to leave again. After my shower I throw on some jeans and a white t-shirt and blue plaid flannel before throwing on my cut. I pop my head in Liams room on my way by to see that he is awake lying in his crib. I go in and pick him up to change his diaper. Cradling him in my arms is my favorite thing to do. I wish I has tis opportunity to bond with Addie when she was a baby. After getting Liam changed we head down to the kitchen to prepare his bottle.  

“Oh Alex dear I can take him” 

“We are ok, thanks Laura. I’ll feed him before I go” I reply. She just smiles and leaves the room as I sit down with him and his bottle. Liam finishes his bottle and falls back asleep. I lay him down in the back and play in the living room. 

“Ok Laura I'm heading out to bring Addie to school, I told my father I wouldn’t be by the clubhouse until later this afternoon. So I'll be back around 8:30.” 

“Ok” she replies 

I climb in my truck and head off to Hayley’s house. I’m nervous about the drive to the school. It will be the first time Addie and I are alone just her and I talking. What do I say to her? I don’t know how to talk to a 9 year old girl. Maybe this wasn’t a good idea, maybe its too soon. I take a deep breath and try to relax myself. I already promised Hayley, I will not back out it will be fine I tell myself. Before I know it I'm pulling in their driveway.
