Chapter Twenty

Sukuna:
I thought cruising would be something she'd like. The car lid pulled back and her hair blowing in the wind as we drove away from the area. Of course, a beach was sounding good at that time. Besides, there was only one place I thought of. One that HE took over. Devil's Peak. A secluded and private beach. One that she would truly love due to its beautiful smooth sand and the caves that were there. I enjoyed it when I was a child, but now that I was older, I would love to go with someone and that person was Rhoyda.
"You missed school." She told me. "Why?"
"Because I didn't know how to face you." I told her, truthfully. "How was I supposed to when you threaten to dump me."
"It was only if you didn't stop being mean. I love how you are, Sukuna. The way you make me feel in and out of the bedroom, that's the guy I..."
"The guy you what?"
I glanced at her and she sighed.
"The guy I loved."
Using my left hand to drive, I placed my right hand on her thigh and moved up. Of course, she pushed it away as she got nervous.
"I know you're not shy now." I told her.
"No, but not in the car." She chuckled.
"A lot of people do it in a car."
"I'm not a lot of people."
I nodded and continued staring out the front window.
"So, where are we going?" She questioned.
"Anywhere, but the school and home." I told her.
She chuckled.
"You didn't think of a destination, did you?"
"I have a place in mind."
"Ha, sure you do."
I squeezed her thigh again and she laughed harder.
"Babe, stop." She said into a fit of laughter.
I moved my hand and she calmed down. Then, we sat in silence. Turning the radio on, a slow mix played as I drove on the empty freeway. Rhoyda checked around and glanced at me with squinted eyes.
"How come there's no cars around?" She asked.
"Nobody comes this way." I explained.
She stared at me and I chuckled.
"Don't be nervous."
"I'm sorry, but you're making me that way."
"This is my father's territory. Everybody knows this is where one of the gates of Hell is."
"The beach..."
I smiled at her reaction.
"Sukuna, what are you thinking right now?"
"Calm down." I told her.
"H..How can I?"
"Baby, I won't ever hurt you."
"Then why are you bringing me here?"
I glanced at her and could see the fear on her face.
"I want to show you something." I told her. "I want you to see what I truly am."
"Do I have to?"
"You can't just love the man, Rhoy. You need to fall in love with the demon, himself."
She stopped talking and turned her attention out the window. HE said it was time for her to meet the real me. It was going to take her time once she met the true me, but it's clear it's better now than later. It'll give her time. We made it to the beach and she stared out the window with wide eyes.
"What's the name of this beach and why am I just now noticing it?"
"It's called Devil's Peak." I told her. "My father owns it. This whole area.. Belongs to him."
I parked the car close by and the both of us got out. Rhoyda tried to bring her bag, but I shook my head at her.
"It'll burst into flames if you bring that." I told her. "Just keep it there."
She tossed it back in the car before she slammed the door shut. Once she joined my side, I grabbed her hand and guided her over to one of the open caves. She released me as I went farther into the place. I stopped, immediately and turned to her.
"Sukuna... I can't." She backed away.
I moved closer to her and she kept her eyes on the entrance of the cave.
"Baby..." I called her. "You will be by my side."
"What if something scares me? Like other demons?"
"I won't allow it."
She shook her head before she looked over at me.
"Sukuna, I'm so scared."
Her whole body was shaking, so I pulled her to me, wrapping my arms around her.
"If it's too much for you, then close your eyes."
I began to slowly pull her into the cave. Her breathing was a lot heavier than before. She held on to me tight like she never wanted to let me go.
"Sukuna..." She spoke my name.
"Shhh... It's okay."
The Gate to Hell opened up for me and the first thing I could hear was the tormented screams. That made Rhoyda shake her head and pull away from me. When she opened her eyes, her eyes widened as she got a glimpse of the opened veil.
"Rhoyda..." I whispered her name.
She folded her arms and stared at the bright red and orange light behind me. I could make out the flames that glowed in her pupils like a mirror.
"Rhoyda.."
She looked at me and watched as I moved backwards more into the Gate of Hell.
"It's real?" She questioned. "The Gate is real?"
I nodded.
"It was never fake, my love. Soon, once I could gain your true heart, we will be in this place together."
"Sukuna, I don't want to. Please, don't make me go."
Tears fallen down her cheeks as she dropped to her knees and cried out loud. When I say she was pertified, it was an understatement. Her heart raced in her chest like it was trying to break free from behind those veins and arteries it was attached to. I kneeled in front of her and placed my hand under her chin, forcing her to look at me.
"I hate when you cry." I told her.
She turned her red eyes from me and continued.
"Rhoyda, I'm not trying to scare you."
"Then what are you doing? Why must I see this?"
"Because I don't want you to just love Dai. I want you love every bit of me as well."
"I do love you."
I shook my head at her.
"You love the mortal you see. You don't love the demon."
"Why would you think that?"
"Because I can hear it in your voice. You're afraid to meet the true form of me. I hate that."
"But, Sukuna.... I'm not ready. I'm not ready to meet you."
Sighing, I got up and moved away from the gate.
"We can't truly be together, Rhoyda. You must love the both of us. Not just him."
"Sukuna, I do love you! Please, believe me!"
"Then, come with me. Either way, I have to go in.. With or without you."
I turned and walked back over to the gate. As soon as I stepped in, I felt a hand on mine. Turning my head, Rhoyda took a deep breath and sighed.
"You better keep your word and protect me." She told me.
"I will."
The gate opened wider as the both of us, stepped into my true home. Soon, we began to fall.
