Cheated

Lucas’ POV     It felt so good to tell someone about my s****l preference. Who better than Alana? She’s always been there for Lloyd and me. She’s our best friend. I’m so happy to see she took the news very well.     It was morning now, and our first day of lecture. I was not sure how would I survive the first day. I was always bullied in high school for having mannerism. I even thought some of the students knew about the way I went when it came to dates.      They used to call me so many names. I got off my bed and went to take a shower. I got dressed and before heading downstairs I decided to call my boyfriend again.     Three rings and the call was picked up. But it wasn’t his voice. It sounded different. Even with a sleepy voice I still knew it wasn’t him.     “Hello?” He said.     “Hello Jake?” I asked afraid to confirm what I was thinking.      “No this is Garrett. Jake is sleeping right now. Would you like to leave a message for him?”.     “No thanks, I’ll call later. One question though. Are you his friend?” I asked.     “More like his partner. We are dating” he replied hanging up.     I felt so many emotions. Sadness, anger, and disappointment. He was cheating on me when last night we had said we missed each other.     I heard a knock on the door and I opened it. Alana stood there smiling. “Hi Wildcat! Ready for our first day? I made breakfast” I smiled at her nickname. Even since we were little kids she would call me wildcat. Not sure why but the name stuck.      “I’m not hungry. I’ll just go straight to school” I said picking up my backpack which caused her to frown.      “What’s going on?” She asked pushing me inside my room and locking the door behind her. We sat on my bed and she took my hand in hers. “Please tell me, what happened?”     I was silent for a moment. I didn’t want her to feel sorry for me. I took a deep breath and told her what happened when I called Jake.     “What a bastard! How can he do that to you. You deserve better than that” she said squeezing the hand she was holding trying to make me feel better “I’m sure you’ll find someone who’ll love you”.      “I don’t know. It hurts a lot. I love him”.      “You’ll be okay. You’re a strong dude. Trust me, you’ll find someone better. Now how about that breakfast” she said pulling me out the door and into the kitchen. We had breakfast and left. Lloyd was still sleeping, his first class was a little later than ours.      So since the weather was nice, we decided to walk while discussing our classes and our goals for this year. I couldn’t wait to get in that music program. And she was still trying to decide what to do.      I was ready to kick ass in college.
