Eilith’s POV-
I believe the interview went extremely well yesterday. So, I was now waiting to hear back from them. Josh was out today, dealing with the decorators at the restaurant that he and Kelly own. They are redecorating before the grand opening. Though Josh is trying out for the Olympics soon, he is also going to help Kelly as much as he can to operate the restaurant while he is training and not overseas at any of the Olympic Games. I even offered both financial and business support to Kelly. I will gladly help her in whatever way I can.
Kelly and I were organizing the files and paperwork she wanted to take and put in her office at the restaurant. She is going to be the head chef, but also operate as the manager, especially when her brother is not there. He will try his best to manage it, so she can focus on the kitchen. So, I was going to help as much as I could until I started working.
“Have you had any other interviews come through yet,” Kelly asked.
I shook my head, “Not yet. I think most people will think I am too overqualified for the positions that I have applied for. But I have done that because I want to try and stay hidden from Dylan, until he is locked up.”
“I understand that is the best you can do. Well, just keep trying, someone will hire you sooner or later. Until then, I would appreciate any insight into the glamourous world of business,” she chuckled.
Just then, my phone started ringing. I didn’t recognize the number, so I answered it, just in case it was one of the companies I applied to.
Me: “Hello.”
Unknown Caller: “Good Morning, am I speaking to Miss Eilith Clarke?”
Me: “Yes, that is me.”
Unknown Caller: “Excellent, I am Mrs Walker, the Executive in charge of Human Resources at Crown Industries. I would like to congratulate you on an incredible interview. I have never, in my twelve years here, seen an interviewee have so many executives that were in the interview with you. Even the CEO was thoroughly impressed with your interview answers, so that after your interview, he made his decision immediately. So, I would like to formally congratulate you, and offer you the position as an Executive’s Personal Assistant.”
Me: “I got the job, really?”
Mrs Walker: “Yes, you did. I would like to know if you can start within a week?”
Me: “Yes, I can.”
Mrs Walker: “Excellent. I am going to email you immediately, with the necessary documents that I need you to fill in and email back as soon as you can. That way we can get started on the appropriate security clearance identifications before you start. You are also going to receive a starting bonus, a small thing every employee receives to make sure they have the appropriate attire to wear. It is because our CEO wants to make sure that no one is bullied and segregated from others because they cannot afford to buy clothing suitable for their job. The bonus is also to aid with travel costs, as he also appreciates that driving a car into London is not always easy, so he wants to make sure that everyone has the money to get bus or underground tickets.”
Me: “He seems like a generous CEO.”
Mrs Walker: “He is indeed. I am sure you will find him most interesting. As you will meet him one day soon, being an executive’s personal assistant, you will be in meetings with him regularly, as well as me. So, I look forward to seeing you in action, once you have fully settled in.”
Me: “Thank you for giving me the job, and please tell the CEO too, that I said thank you. I will get that information that you require back to you later today.”
Mrs Walker: “Excellent, that is perfect. I look forward to seeing you at work very soon. Have a lovely day.”
Me: “You, as well, Mrs Walker. Goodbye.”
With that, we hung up the phone. I all but dropped my phone on the sofa next to me. As Kelly excitedly clapped her hands together, and asked, “You got the job, didn’t you?”
I nodded, “But when did the CEO select me so quickly?”
“Well, either your interview was really that good, or he thought you were good-looking, or maybe there is another I do not know. You couldn’t find out who the CEO was, not even a name, right,” Kelly said.
“I couldn’t find out who the CEO was. All I know is that he started the company at eighteen and has run it without incident and continued to grow it to the empire it is now,” I responded.
“That is impressive, so he is still quite young, about thirty. Is he a bachelor,” she wiggled her eyebrows?
“Stop it. I just got out of a horrible relationship; it will be a long time before I get another. What about you,” I raised an eyebrow at her.
“Well, maybe he has a handsome friend,” she chuckled.
I shook my head in shock at her thoughts, before she continued, “Don’t worry. You just need to focus on healing and growing stronger. Work on yourself. One day true love will come to you when you least expect it. Fate has funny ways of tying people together.”
“You are starting to sound like a fortune cookie,” I chuckled.
“You know I am telling the truth,” she said.
“I know you are. I just find it hard to believe, with everything I have been through. I just hope that things get better and quickly,” I sighed.
“It will. Now, let’s celebrate,” she smiled.
“I would love that,” I chuckled.
“Good, I am calling Josh to find out when he will be finished, and then I will book us a table at a restaurant. I want to find out what my competition will be like,” she smirked.
“That is a good idea. I guess once the decorating has finished, you will be hiring staff,” I said.
She nodded, “I have already been receiving CVs and applications. I have responded, thanking them for their applications, and given them interview dates. The interviews start next week, which is when the decorating will conclude.”
“That is great news, hopefully you will be able to open on your grand opening,” I smiled.
“I do hope so, but will you be able to be there for the grand opening? It is in a month and a half,” she asked.
“I do not know, but I will certainly try to be,” I replied.
“I will make sure there is a table reserved for you,” she smiled.
I nodded, and she went to call Josh. He informed us that he was just finishing up for the day, as they had to wait for the paint to dry, before decorating more. So, he told us he would be home to shower in about thirty minutes. That gave Kelly and I time to sort out what we were doing, and for me to fill in those applications. Then we would both go to have showers and change. The restaurant Kelly managed to get a reservation at is in a high-end restaurant, the kind of restaurant only the rich go to.
That night we had a super amazing dinner, though the cooking was great, but nothing compared to Kelly’s cooking. I was positive at the restaurant; I saw Dylan’s Uncle. But I thought I was just seeing things. I did feel eyes on me at times. I tried my best to ignore it, because I thought I was being paranoid. The therapist I spoke to when I was in hospital recovering, told me that I could experience paranoia and even panic attacks after what happened to me. Kelly had one too many to drink, and Josh had to carry her arse home. It was quite fun to watch. I witnessed her running drunk down the streets of London. Honestly, it was by far the funniest thing I had seen her do in a long time. It was quite a feat to get her home, but we did achieve it. Once she was in bed, Josh and I retired to our own bedrooms, both of us exhausted.
