Eilith’s POV-
The door to my hospital room opened, with several people entering. Kelly and Josh were the first in through the door. Kelly almost sent my poor doctor flying when she charged into my hospital room to see me. Kelly and Josh rushed to my side, their worried and concerned expressions said a lot. It showed me just how much they cared for me. Two policemen walked into my room as well. The doctor approached my bed, and asked, “Your friends here have been requesting my medical report, but I cannot give that out to them, because of confidentiality reasons. They say it is something that you would want them to have. Did you want me to give a printed copy of my medical report to you, so you can give it to your friends for safe keeping?”
My gaze met Kelly’s, and I saw her nod. I knew she was doing this so that Dylan and his wealthy family couldn’t cover this up. So, I looked at the doctor, and nodded, “Yes, please give her the medical report, she will keep it safe for me.”
I gestured to Kelly as I spoke. Doctor Ward nodded, and said, “Alright, I will be back in about thirty minutes with reports. As for you all, please remember she will need to rest, and may have trouble remembering everything.”
I chuckled, “I remember everything, unfortunately.”
“That is great news, not just from a doctor’s perspective but for the police as well,” he replied, before quickly leaving the room.
“How are you feeling, El,” Josh asked. He always shortened my name to that every chance he got.
“All things considered, I am okay,” I smiled weakly at him.
“If I ever get my hands on that bastard, he is going to pray he was never born. So, you, coppers, better make sure he stays in prison for what he has done,” Kelly glared at the two police officers.
They looked a little uncomfortable at her threat. Honestly, I can only imagine the things she would do to ensure that Dylan’s life is ruined. She is my little psycho. Josh shook his head, “Ignore her, she is just angry and concerned that this will get swept under the rug.”
“My name is PC Davis, Miss Clarke. I am sorry this happened to you, but may I ask why you think that Miss Roberts,” the slightly older of the two police officers said.
“Because Dylan Harrison is a rich man from a rich family, who would do anything to protect their image,” Kelly responded.
“She is not wrong,” Josh said.
“Well, we will try to ensure that does not happen, and justice is done,” PC Davis said.
“That is why, I want your names, badge numbers, and copies of the notes that you take, and the statements that we give. I would also want the information of the one investigating this. I am also going to start recording this conversation for our records,” Kelly smiled, handing her phone to Josh, so he could video record this entire conversation.
“That is fine, we too will need to record this conversation. We can give that information to you before we leave. For now, we need to sort out Miss Clarke’s statement, and she needs to answer some important questions as well. Then we will need you to write a statement and sign it, if you are feeling up to it,” PC Davis said, before starting his own recording device.
“I will write the statement on her behalf, or at least write what she says. Eilith can read it and confirm it is all correct, before she signs it herself, as Doctor Ward mentioned, she needs to rest,” Kelly said.
“We can accept that, as long as it matches word for word what is said in the recording,” PC Davis nodded.
“Good, because I do not have enough energy to write this statement, and I know you need it to ensure Dylan stays in jail,” I croaked.
“Do you need a drink,” Kelly asked.
I nodded, “Please.”
Kelly got me a glass of water and helped me sit up enough to drink it. Helping me move slowly, because I suspected that if I moved fast, I would get dizzy and sick. It is very likely that I will throw up. They all patiently waited for me to have a drink, before I gave my statement. PC Davies asked, “Are you ready to give your statement now?”
I nodded, and Kelly smiled, “I have a pen and paper, so I am ready to write.”
Everyone nodded, before turning to look at me. I took a breath, trying not to take a deep breath, because it hurt my ribs. I began, “This morning, I had told Dylan Harrison, my boyfriend at the time, that I was going to be visiting my grandparents. It was a spontaneous visit, something I often did with my grandparents, as they raised me. I told him that I was not sure when I would be back, but it could be the evening, or maybe the next day, but I would let him know if I was staying the night with them. But when I got there, my grandparents already had plans, and I soon had to leave, because they were leaving to go and visit their friends. I arrived home, not bothering to message Dylan, because I thought I could surprise him. I quietly got into my flat to surprise him. That was when I found him having s****l intercourse with another woman. So, I left as quietly as I came. I drove to speak with Kelly Roberts at her place of work. I spoke with her, and she made me see sense. She made me see how abusive and controlling he was, even though it was just mentally at first. I knew that it would not be long before it became physical. So, I made the decision to leave him. Kelly arranged to get Josh to pick her up when she finished work, and then she would meet me in the middle of my packing. She went off to work, but I had to wait until I knew he was out of the flat. I waited to hear from him, and he told me when he was going to be out over text. He told me he would be meeting with his friends, watching the football match and having food and drinks out. I figured I would have enough time to get home and pack up everything I needed, before Kelly and Josh arrived to help me. But Dylan came home early and found me packing. I told him I was leaving. We argued, and he gripped the back of my head, and pulled my hair. I pushed him off me. That only angered him more. He hit me on the back of the head, and when I turned around to look at him, he punched me in the face. I fell backwards and hit my head on the corner of my bedside unit. I fell to the floor. He approached me and began kicking me several times in the stomach and ribs. That was when he told me that I could never give him what he needed, but now he would show me what he needed. That was when he pulled the whip out and hit me with it a few times. He heard the sirens and ran from the flat.”
“That is exactly how it happened,” PC Davis questioned.
I nodded, “It is.”
“I have written it all down,” Kelly declared, handing it to me.
“Before you read over it, may we ask you some questions,” PC Davis asked.
I nodded, “Kelly, did you want to take a scan of it, and then we can take another once I have signed it.”
She nodded, and took it from me, and used Josh’s phone to do it. PC Davis smiled, “When you were undergoing examination and treatment by the doctors, Mr Harrison was questioned, and he admitted to everything, but insisted that your name is Eilith Smith. Not the one on your identification or medical records. So, could you explain the reasoning behind this?”
“I told him that Eilith Smith is my name. Smith is my mother’s maiden name. Clarke is my father’s name and my actual last name. But because of who my father and grandparents are, I am an heiress to an unbelievably huge fortune. So, after my parents were killed in a car accident when I was only five. My grandparents made me promise to tell everyone that I was Eilith Smith, not Eilith Clarke. That way I could weed out those who would try to use me for my wealth. I have been with Dylan for years, but some part of me didn’t want to tell him, because of his family’s wealth, I suspected that they would nag far earlier for us to marry, before I was ready to marry. You must tell him that this was an error and that my name is Eilith Smith, or tell him a misspelled version of Clarke,” I explained.
“Alright, I will pass that information on to the Detective Inspector. Final question, did you want to have a restraining order against him, if he is released on bail,” he inquired.
I nodded, “Yes, I do. I do not want to see him or for him to come near me, or my family.”
“I can make sure that the restraining order extends to your grandparents, and you,” he said.
Kelly gave me the document back, and I read through it, and signed it. Kelly got a photograph of the statement and got the information she wanted from the police officers. Then the doctor returned with my medical report and gave one to Kelly and one to the police.
Two days later, after some final testing, I was discharged from the hospital. I was given the “all clear”, there was no damage on the MRI, but I was instructed to be careful and spend time recovering. Kelly and Josh stayed with me, apart from when Josh went to sell my car for me and to check over my flat, to make sure that Dylan had not been there, because he had been released on bail thanks to his wealthy father. Neither Kelly nor I were amused about it. Once, I was discharged, Kelly took me to my flat, and Josh met us there with a moving van and all of Kelly and Josh’s stuff. They decided to move sooner, so we could get to London and away from Dylan. So, we packed my stuff up and loaded it on to the moving van and left for our new home in London. I must admit that I did feel safer, leaving for London. I was hoping to start fresh. New job, new home, and new life. I am going to use my real last name from now on.
