JANA
Even when I couldn't hear Alpha Ashton's voice or sense any of his movement, I continued to run. Whether or not he is still after me, I will keep running until I can escape from him. He tried to grab me earlier, but thankfully I slipped, otherwise I would already be dead in his hands right now.
I came to a halt, and took a closer look at the scene in front of me because this place is absolutely unfamiliar to me. I'm wondering why the breeze smells strange and the trees appear to be dead. I didn't hear any of the live creatures that used to amble through the woodlands of this pack land.
I take a deep breath while I scan the forest. There is no one here, and Alpha Ashton does not appear to have followed me or entered this place. I recline against a giant tree root and gaze up at the sky.
The moon goddess appears to be depressed right now because I can't see much in the normally beautifully colored sky, which now appears to be filled with anguish. A huge downpour appears to be on its way as the entire woodland darkens.
"Jana, this area is giving me a terrible feeling that I don't like. Something is not right here," the terrified-looking Anaya stated.
"Anaya, I am feeling that too. I can't help but feel anxious and perplexed at the same time." My chest thumped loudly as I spoke.
My wolf suggested that we leave the spot and continue walking in hopes of coming across another pack's territory.
My legs are trembling, but I just tried to stand up but couldn't. I'm so tired that I can't move my hands and my chest is tight. I'm not sure why, but I suspect it has something to do with my body's exposure to silver.
"Can we shift?" I asked Anaya once more.
"I'm sorry, but we can't do it," Anaya answered.
Anaya explained that I was extremely weak because it appeared that the rejection was now affecting us.
"What are we going to do now, Anaya?" I sadly asked her,
"Take a break; let's resume running later. We're currently unable to move because of our extreme exhaustion," said Anaya, who experiences the same pain.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. Even the wind gusts frighten me since I feel so unfamiliar with my surroundings. It appeared to be a warning that something unfavorable would occur later.
I gather my composure and try not to think negatively about the unpleasant feelings I'm currently experiencing. Instead of thinking about something that would not be particularly beneficial in my present situation, I choose to think positively until I fall asleep.
I woke up from a deep slumber when Anaya inquired. "Do you know where we are?"
"Anaya, I have no idea. Nothing comes to mind," I replied, blinking while I was trying to figure it out.
A sudden downpour of heavy rain made me start to stare wide-eyed. Despite looking everywhere, I was unable to find a place where I could hide from the unexpected, strong wind. When loud thunder and lightning strike together, it is incredibly frightful and makes me want to die.
I had to drag myself up and get moving until I found a spot where I could stay for a bit, so I continued to stroll and explore the area. The fact that I didn't find any treats for me after searching the entire place makes me grateful.
I swiftly entered the cave and removed my wet clothing to let it dry. I'm fortunate that this is in an elevated area because I witnessed a large flood just as I reached the entrance of the cave.
I sighed heavily as I leaned on a large stone and watched the enormous water that was rushing around. I now fully understand why this forest appears to be devoid of life. Strong floodwaters were killing animals, destroying plants and trees, and harming this woodland.
"Jana, go ahead and relax. We feel secure here for the time being," Anaya murmured.
I put my garments on top of the stone after squeezing them tight so that the water would dry off. I am completely naked and resting on a chilly stone, with nothing left inside of me. Now that I have a wolf, I can deal with this situation. Therefore, the cold weather has no effect on me. We wolves don't mind the cold because we can withstand it, and I can just now begin to appreciate it.
I simply cuddled up till I started to nod off and let my mind drift. Just now, in the middle of the night, I awoke to the sound of something coming toward me. I pick my clothes quickly and put them on.
I'm more cautious this time since I know whoever is coming to this place could pose a serious threat to my life. I'm a rogue now and am an unwanted visitor in this pack land. Therefore, they would definitely punish me if they found me here.
I waited for someone to enter the front of the cave while my heart was thumping. I am absolutely certain that someone is around, and they may be aware of my hidden spot. That is why they are searching for the intruder in order to catch me and punish me.
In the wolf realm, entering Alpha's territory without authorization is regarded as a serious offense that carries a death sentence as a standard punishment because the offender would not be able to survive the pain, particularly if they used silver.
To see if the necklace Stella gave me was still working in my favor, I attempted to mind link with her, but the connection was lost. As soon as I arrived here, it seemed like I lost contact with her.
When a tremendous howl reverberated throughout the entire cave, I turned to look outside. My stomach turns inside and I cover both of my ears because it frightens me. I am accustomed to hearing this sound, which is typically made by the pack's alpha, who is grieving and in great suffering.
My pulse began to race as I heard another loud howl. I'm not sure why the sorrowful wolf's howl had such an impact on me. I appear to be able to feel his suffering in my heart for some reason that I cannot fathom.
Anaya is silent; I don't hear anything from her, making me think that she is dozing and taking a rest. I remained guarding and kept an eye on the cave entrance while listening for any additional sounds, but all I could hear were the local crickets.
Once the sun has fully risen, I carefully get to my feet and change back into my clothing. Since I hadn't eaten or even had a tiny bit of water since last night, I halted a little when I heard my stomach reminding me that I was hungry.
Anaya murmured feebly, "I'm starving."
I stretched my body and simply said, "We need to locate food for breakfast."
I take a cautious look around as I make my way to the entrance of the cave. When I eventually go outside to seek my breakfast, nobody is there, which I thank the moon goddess for. I keep looking, but it's fruitless. Except for the tall falls, who I assume emerged from the water last night; I didn't come across any other live creatures.
I was frozen when suddenly someone grabbed me from behind. I was speechless when I saw that one shirtless man was grasping my arms and tugging me along, which caused my eyes to widen and flicker.
"Who are you and why are you here?" he asked in a grave voice.
"I'm sorry, I ran away from my pack and I entered here by accident," I apologized, shivering with terror,
"Don't you realize that entering this territory is a death sentence?" The frightening man who appeared to be ready to kill me inquired.
I am afraid for my safety. I swallowed the lump in my throat because I was terrified for my life. I am fully aware of what he is saying and the severe penalty I will receive.
"I'm sorry, but I have no other choice. If I didn't get away from my Alpha, he would murder me," I replied, in the hopes that they would give me a second chance and allow me to live.
The man smirked at me and added, "You save yourself from your alpha, but I doubt your life would be saved if my alpha sees you. You're a member of the Storm Forest Pack, and my Alpha Romano won't accept anyone who isn't supposed to be here."
He dragged me with such force that tears streamed down my face. I have no choice but to follow him, frightened for my life and wondering what might occur as I worry that perhaps this is the end of me. I recognized the Alpha he was referring to. I remember him because he identified the name of the pack that I mistakenly entered yesterday.
When compared to the other beast alphas in the eastern realm, the ruthless Alpha Romano is the most lethal. He's dangerous, and he has no sympathy for individuals like me who make mistakes. Because of how feared he is, I keep begging and pleading with the moon goddess to save me from him.
"Sir, pardon me and have pity on me. I didn't do anything wrong, and I don't have any plans to do anything that would hurt someone. I just flew out of my pack and unintentionally invaded your territory," I begged while my tears continued to fall down my cheeks.
I don't get an answer, and the shirtless man I assumed to be a pack guard at this boundary continues to take me off in the direction of an unfamiliar place. The way he treats me indicates that no one will pay attention to me as the two wolves behind me continue to probe at my skin.
I started to lose strength and experience blurred vision, eventually walking as if there is no life at all. My sluggish pace was noticed by the man who was strolling in front of me. He gave me a warning look that I shouldn't stop walking as he scowled at me in my direction.
They kept on dragging me until we got to a place that resembled a small town. We continued walking. We passed through so many mountains, rivers, and plantations before we were eventually able to get here that I lost count.
What I observed inside this pack makes me speechless. A tall structure with incredible lighting can be seen. They appear to be showing off their wealth and pack-people status. It has been demonstrated that Alpha Romano is undeniably wealthy and powerful. The things I've seen around here amply show just how strong he is.
The pack guard dragged me into the massive door as my vision turned pitch black. I completely lost my strength till I tripped on the dusty road and passed out, so I have no idea what happened to me after that.
I became conscious after feeling something tap my wrists. My eyes slowly open, and I look around the room where I just woke up. The walls and ceilings I've seen are white. Inside the room, nobody's around me, yet I can feel some movement outside.
I could sense a variety of scents around this place, but they were the only thing that let me know I was still alive. I have the impression that I'm being brought to a vast residence where lots of people reside.
"Anaya," I called softly.
Anaya's abrupt movement was noticed, but she did not respond. She, like me, was disoriented and had no idea what had happened to us after I lost consciousness.
"We're in the hospital," Anaya replied immediately.
I had no knowledge of what the hospital looked like. I've never been here before, so I have no idea what's going on inside. One thought comes to mind: once someone is placed here, there is no getting out alive. Perhaps this is the place mentioned by the men who arrested me.
I blink again, trying to figure out how I'm going to get out of here. My hope faded the moment I raised my right leg and saw my ankle bound with the chain attached to the end of the bed where I was resting.
