ICARUS
I was in my study trying to get some work done when suddenly someone barged into my office.
Lana appeared immediately after, followed closely by the guards who looked terrified because I had clearly told them that I did not want any disturbance.
“Icarus!” Lana cried out, running towards me with her arms open wide.
Was she about to wrap her arms around me?
Before I could protest, she was already squeezing me in her grasp, soaking my shirt in tears as she sobbed terribly.
The guards were about ready to rip her way from me, but I raised my hands to stop them, ignoring my repulsion. They eyed her suspiciously before standing back.
“Hey, hey, it is okay…” I consoled her, even though I had no idea why she was crying. She was just blubbering words I could not comprehend.
“You would need to calm down, Lana.” I said, gently easing out of her grip. She reluctantly let go of me, wiping her tears with the sleeve of her shirt.
We took our seats across from each other on the lounge in my office and I watched her calm down.
“Can you speak now about what the problem is?” I asked her, and she nodded.
“It's Freya.” Lana said, and my face scrunched up in confusion.
Freya? What could have happened to her?
“What happened to Freya?” I asked. “Is she okay?”
“Dammit, Icarus!” Lana exclaimed. “She is the reason I am not okay!”
“Hey, You better watch that tone of yours or you get the hell out of here.” My voice was cold and commanding, and Lana squirmed in her seat.
“I-I am sorry.” Lana appologised, staring at her intertwined fingers.
“Now speak.” I sat back on my seat, watching Lana. If there was one thing I knew about Lana, it was that she was cunning and manipulative.
She had not exactly been a fan of Freya from the first day she stepped her foot in this castle as my mate, so I was somewhat expecting this to happen sooner than later.
Lana was not a saint, that was for sure, but I decided to give her a chance and listen to what she had to say.
“I-I was in the library to return some books I had borrowed a-and that was when I spotted someone that looked like Freya, sneaking around in the werewolf and sorcery section of the library.”
My ears perked up at the mention of sorcery and I sat up quickly.
“What did you say?” I asked Lana. I needed to be sure of what I heard.
“I caught Freya hiding to read books at the werewolf and sorcery section, Icarus.” Lana repeated, glancing up to catch her watching from underneath her lashes and she looked away again, continuing her story.
“I found it really suspicious, s-so...I confronted her, asking her why she was there and she shoved me a-and threatened me…”
Her lips began to quiver at this point, her eyes glistening with tears. “I told her she was being mean, but she attacked me, Icarus. She slapped me and made me look like a fool in the presence of servants a-and everyone in the library!”
She was sniffing and crying loudly.
I thought about Lana's story and I had so many questions that made me doubt its authenticity.
Firstly, what was Lana herself doing in the sorcery section of the library?
Next question was, how did she approach Freya? Freya might be a fireball, but she was never one to start a fight unless she was given a reason to.
And lastly, I knew Lana was not one to be trusted, and she would do anything to get Freya out of the way so I was not going to buy her story without hearing from Freya first.
“Get out.” I commanded, my voice void of any emotion so I could drive the point across.
“W-what?” Lana blinked at me incredulously. “Are you not going to do anything about Freya? Ever since you let her in here, you don’t hold any relevance to me any longer!”
“I said get out of my office, Lana. Do not make me repeat myself or else I would get my guards to do it for you. They would be more than eager to.” I drew my brows together, narrowing my eyes at Lana.
“Y-you...you...” Lana stuttered, pointing at me in anger. “You’d really discard me that easily? What happened to the nights where I warmed your bed? What happened to being the one who understood your needs and desires? What happened to us!”
The woman was deranged to even think I’d place her over my mate. My woman. I growled lowly, irritation crawling in. My wolf wanted to rip her tongue off for having such audacity.
“I didn’t f*****g stutter, Lana. Freya is your Luna and you will respect that. You do not dare talk foul of her. You do not dare breathe wrongly around her. And you must definitely do not come into my office spitting out lies about her. I won’t hesitate to bury you myself if you even think to cross those lines again. Are we clear?”
Her jaw dropped, tears clouding her vision once again. “B-but, Icarus…”
“Are we clear!” My voice thundered, a deadly glow to my eyes.
“Yes-yes, Alpha!” She bowed.
“Now, get out. And for the record, you mean nothing to me anymore.”
The tears fell freely down her cheeks, but she knew better than to utter another word. Lana picked up herself and ungraciously ran out, slamming the door with a loud bang.
I sank back in my seat, my thoughts reeling fast.
Why was Freya in the library in the first place, and why was she interested in werewolf and sorcery?
Something was definitely fishy.

I was getting ready for bed when Freya walked in, wrapped in a pink midnight robe. She was fully covered, but my fingers itched to take off the robe to see what was hidden underneath it. I had to literally shake the thought out of my head.
I promised her I would not touch her until after our mating ritual and I was willing to wait till then, even though it grew difficult by the day.
“Hello, Icarus.” She greeted, shutting the door behind her.
“My Luna…” I smiled at her and she giggled.
“You really like the sound of that, don't you?”
“Oh, I was not laughing because of that, It is your pants. Your zipper is down.” Freya said, amidst laughter.
I was overwhelmed with embarrassment, looking down to see that my zipper was indeed down, so I quickly drew it up.
“Thank you, Freya.” I cleared my throat, trying to pass off the awkward moment. “Although I wonder what your eyes were doing wandering down there in the first place.”
Freya gasped, blinking at me in shock. “How dare you take my kindness for perversion, Icarus?”
“I do not know, you tell me.” I chuckled, waving her over. “Come on, I saved the fluffiest pillows for you.”
“Nuh-uh.” Freya huffed. “Not after your dreary accusations.”
“Suit yourself... you are missing out.” I called out as I made myself comfortable on the bed. “Ahhhh, so relaxing…”
A few moments passed and Freya still had not joined me in bed. I did not think she would take it too personally.
“Still not coming?” I called out to her.
“Oh no, I would not want to defile the Alpha in his sleep.” Freya sneered and I could not help but break into laughter.
“What was that?” I asked amid laughter.
“I do not know, you tell me.” She mocked, walking over to the bed.
“Alright, I apologise.” I said, after a hearty round of laughter. “Now, will you join me in bed, Freya?”
“Fine.” She pouted, getting into bed. I scooted closer to her and she moved away from me.
“Come on, I said I was sorry!” I chuckled, drawing closer to her again. “One more scoot, and you are going to hit the floor. Stop running from me.”
She sighed, letting me pull her back into the bed. “You win.” She grudgingly muttered.
“Of course I win.” I smirked, nuzzling my chin on her collarbone.
We laid in comfortable silence for a while, until I spoke.
“Freya?" I called out to check if she was still awake, but I got no response. I leaned closer and realised she had already fallen asleep.
I really wanted to ask her about her fight with Lana, but I guess I would just do that another time.
“Goodnight, Freya.” I whispered, dropping a peck on her forehead before shutting my own eyes to welcome the arms of sleep.

FREYA
At the sound of Icarus' soft snores, my eyes flung open and I carefully wiggled out of his grip, sneaking out of the bedroom into his library. This has been my routine since I started spending the night at Icarus' chambers.
I really did not want to go down to the castle's library, because that would be a bit suspicious, especially after what had happened the last time.
I did not think the Librarian would be particularly excited to have me around at such unholy hours.
I quietly snuck into the library, sighing in relief when I made it in without waking Icarus up. I really hoped to find a book like the one I was reading earlier, so I got searching. After what felt like forever, I found a book titled Fatal Fauna.
“This looks promising…” I muttered, flipping through it.
It was like a thesaurus for poisonous and deadly plants that could greatly harm wolves. Unfortunately, a lot of them were extinct, so I decided to search for the Moonbell I had seen in the other book. After a long time of flipping pages, I finally found it and I pumped my fist in the air.
“Yes!” I whispered in excitement.
Now, I just had to find out if this Moonbell was extinct or not and the effect it had on Immortal wolves. To my dismay, what it said about immortal wolves was quite unclear, but gratefully it was not extinct.
After hours of reading and searching through other books which talked about the plant, none of them had information on the effect it had on Immortal wolves.
“Arrrgh!” I groaned, rubbing my aching eyes.
It was at that moment I knew I needed to consult Imani again. Without any progress in my mission, I doubt she’d be too pleased to see me.
