Chapter 1: Kassidy's Ressurection

The loud sound of the phone ringing woke Kathryn up from her deep slumber. She rubbed her eyes in an attempt to rid the drowsiness away and looked at the clock on the wall on her right side as she grumpily picked up the phone.

She had been working overtime these past few days and it was only this time that she got to rest and sleep properly, yet someone dared to call and disturb her peace in the middle of the night?! It was still 3 in the morning! The birds aren't even awake yet!

“Kathryn!”

“Who is this?” Kathryn furrowed her brows when the caller used her real name cheerfully. Only a few people knew her number and, most importantly, there were fewer of them who knew her real name.

“Ouch! That hurts! You have already forgotten about me after abandoning me in this place! You’re cruel!”

“Amber, for goodness sake, it’s still 3 in the morning here! You are disturbing my sleep!”

It was Amber Stewart, her friend who she unexpectedly met 7 years ago. And it’s also been 7 years since Kassidy died, leaving her the responsibility of avenging her.

The once ignorant Kathryn Jones has now matured and is currently an adult who has become a well-known fashion designer under the name of Miss K. Her identity was still a mystery to the fashion world, and even her employees had not seen a glimpse of her all these years and had only known that their boss was named Miss K.

There have been quite a few major happenings over the past 7 years of her life.

One of the significant events was the moment she first met Amber.

After burying her sister on the hill, she traveled for two days and finally arrived at the city gates on the night of the second day. She was already tired and wanted to fill her stomach, which had been starving for days already. All that she wanted was to rest. However, there were no open hotels wherever she went.

When she finally found a luxurious-looking hotel that didn’t seem full, she entered the building in hopes of booking a room. However, as she stepped inside, she already felt different types of stares coming her way. Most were looks of disgust, insult, and disbelief. What could she say? Her current appearance indeed made her look like a beggar.

But it was fortunate, as no one seemed to recognize her face at all. She could not afford to be recognized by someone who knew her sister right now.

Halfway through the main lobby, she was stopped by two guards, “Miss, we are sorry but this is an exclusive hotel. Beggars aren’t allowed to step in.”

Kathryn’s gaze had turned colder in an instant but instead of insisting to check in, she turned around and left with her elegant steps despite looking like a beggar.

“Who does that woman think she is? She’s only a beggar asking for money!” the receptionist said with disgust.

“Does she think that anyone can enter the Galaxy Hotel?” another person on the stairs sneered as she looked down at the girl who had just come in.

Kathryn continued walking tirelessly on the busy streets, ignoring the constant stares of the people she came across.

“Miss, we are open for customers. Do you need a place to stay?” as she walked, she heard a voice calling for her. A woman was looking at her with a warm smile, and by the looks of it, she was only a bit older than her in age.

“You are accepting beggars in your hotel?” Kathryn asked with a bit of irritation in her voice. Because of what she had experienced earlier at the hotel, she was already tired and hungry.

“You don’t look like a beggar though. This hotel might be too shabby in appearance, but it all had the basic necessities. I can only offer you this much,” the woman replied warmly.

Kathryn nodded and followed the lady inside the 10th-floor hotel named Winter Hotel. Compared to the 50th-floor hotel she entered earlier, this one indeed fell far too behind. And by the looks of it, this place is nearing its end already.

When that lady saw her observing the place, she could only smile sadly, “This place must fulfill its reason till the end. I am Alexa Stewart, the owner of this place. I also have a younger sister who is also helping me manage this place, but she was out to buy something and will be back later.”

“I’m Kathryn, nice to meet you. I must say that you are still able to manage the place properly despite being on the edge,” she smiled and replied respectfully.

“Very well, you must be extremely tired. I shall check you in now.”

Kathryn watched Alexa check her in before handing over the card she was holding. This was the card given to her by their parents before their deaths. Since Kathryn was living frugally all these years, she had never used the card and had only kept it safe. But right now, she desperately needed to start at something and money was the solution.

Alexa’s eyes grew wide when she saw the card handed by Kathryn was a gold card. With this card alone, it would immediately signify her status in life and that she came from a very wealthy descent. This is the second most expensive card in the entire werewolf kingdom.

This kingdom commonly uses cards and they are categorized into Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Bronze cards are held by ordinary people or some small business owners and the Platinum cards are mostly held by the alpha and their family members, who reign over the different countries in the entire kingdom. In Alexa’s case, their family could only hold onto the bronze card.

There are four werewolf packs in the werewolf kingdom. The Nightshade Pack, Frostclaw Pack, Madfur Pack, and Swiftmane Pack. These werewolf packs were the ones governing each part of the kingdom.

Quinton City that Kathryn entered was a small city under the Swiftmane Pack. Because it’s far from the main capital city, the livelihood there was much cheaper compared to other cities.

And so, this made Alexa stupefied to see such a luxurious card. The gold card had fingerprint identification so that no anyone could just use it.

But she soon regained her surprise and completed the check-in process. When she was about to pick a room, Kathryn opened her mouth and asked, “Is your biggest room still available?”

Alexa thought for a bit before giving an offer, “The penthouse is still open. Would you like to stay there?”

“Yes, please. And also, please deduct the cost of my food there for a month as well. Thank you,” Kathryn asked nicely.

‘Just 1 month. I just needed 1 month, Kassidy. The wound is still very fresh and I need time to recover. By then, I shall start making my plans.’

“Thank you as well for choosing our hotel, Miss Kathryn.” Alexa was truly delighted. Kathryn’s arrival had just saved their hotel for a year!

Kathryn just nodded her head in response.

Alexa took her to the 10th floor using the elevator near the stairs. As Kathryn observed the place, she could tell that this place had still been maintained despite the difficulties it was facing.

Seeing how tired Kathryn looked, she decided to bid farewell and said that the food would arrive in an hour, which Kathryn politely thanked.

After the door closed, Kathryn looked at the enormous room. It had its own kitchen and living room, and there was another door for two bedrooms and another for the bathroom. She settled her suitcase in the bedroom, opened it, and took a few clothes to change into.

These were the things she had brought when she came back to attend Kassidy’s wedding. She had only brought a few things as she was planning to go back right after the wedding. But after what happened, she had no plans to go back to her simple and idle life. Fortunately, she managed to bring along some of her important documents.

Just right after she had showered, her doorbell rang. Opening it, she was welcomed by the aroma of the food and a bright smiling lady, who looked like she was of the same age as her.

When that lady saw Kathryn’s clear image, she had a bright face plastered on them as she exclaimed in pure relief, “Kassidy! I’m so glad you are fine! I have been so worried about you! Where have you gone?!”

And that’s how Kathryn met Amber. Kassidy and Amber had been close friends but had lost contact after Kassidy became a mate to Rhys. Amber had already started conversing with her again after announcing their upcoming wedding and that she was invited.

Amber had known a lot of things that Kathryn wasn’t aware of at the beginning. When she told Amber she wanted to get her revenge, Amber immediately volunteered to help. She wanted to reject the offer as she didn’t want to involve anyone in her personal matters. The road she was taking was a dangerous one and full of risks. Amber’s life might also be endangered, but Amber stubbornly rejected the idea.

According to her, Kassidy was also her friend, she treated her like a sister as well and so, she also wanted to avenge her. Left with no choice, Kathryn accepted the offer.

From then on, they became each other’s allies. And after Kathryn leaves the small city to start her plans, Amber also leaves on her journey to the Northern Islands where the Nightshade Pack’s alpha resides.

“I have a piece of fresh news for you. Listen very well… Rhys Dalton is getting married in a few months. The woman he will be marrying is the only daughter of the alpha of the Frostclaw pack! Her name was Alice Hook.”

Kathryn’s mind seemed to blank as hatred began to emerge from her body. She remembered that name so well. It was the woman that made her sister suffer emotionally! So, she was already marrying the man she dreamed of, since her sister was already gone! How dare they!

“Kathryn?”

Amber’s words woke her up from her stupor, “Yes? What were you saying again?”

“This will be a grandiose wedding. And I must say, they are trying to disrespect Kassidy again even after her death! The flowers, the decorations, the venue, the wedding gown itself that Kassidy had designed for herself, Alice was going to use them all in her wedding! My heart is boiling in anger after I heard them!”

Amber kept on ranting in anger and cursing those couple to death while Kathryn had become silent. But despite her silence, the thirst for vengeance was increasing and it was very evident in her dark eyes. She went into her study and poured herself a glass of wine. Before her consciousness could caution her, she wrapped her hands around the glass and downed the alcohol in one gulp.

The taste of wine brought back the melancholic memories she had kept repressed for 7 years. Kathryn let out a mocking laugh as she cursed inwardly.

Kathryn’s gaze darkened as an inconceivable emotion slowly enveloped her. She had now recovered and she had finished planning. It’s time for her to execute her plans.

Starting today, she will stop being Kathryn Jones. Kathryn Jones will vanish and Kassidy Jones will resurface. Kassidy Jones, the most renowned Miss K, will finally show her face in public!

“Amber,” she answered after a long period of silence, “I’m going back.”

“Wait… What did you say again?”

Kathryn looked at the full moon through her glass window. It was so bright and clear, just like the memory she had when Kassidy died.

“It’s time for me to go back.”

This time, the Kassidy that they will be seeing is no longer the prey but the predator!
