Chapter 5

—AMELIA— Michele’s hands stroked down the sides of my body as I stood in front of him. He tapped my hips gently, instructing me to stand further apart. The warmth of his breath hit the back of my neck which was on show from my high pony tail. He ran his fingers along my arms that were locked straight in front of me.  “Keep your arms steady and your breathing slow” he groaned in a hush tone.  “Focus on your target” he continued.  I slowed my shaky breath as I held the hand gun, pointing it towards a rounded target in front. The soft touch of Michele’s hand calmed my nerves. His soothing tone melted my surroundings into a blur and I focused intensely on the target.  “Take in a deep breath”. I breathed in deeply and held it. “Now when you exhale, squeeze the trigger” he encouraged.  I let out my steady breath and pulled the trigger. The gun jolted in my hand from the recoil and a loud shot filled the air. I looked to see whether I had hit the target and Michele started laughing with excitement. There was a deep hole just off of the centre.  “You’re a natural” he complimented and I smiled at his praise. “Now do it again without me standing there” he ordered.  I parted my stance and focused on the target once again. I took in a deep breath and aimed before exhaling and pulling the trigger a second time. The shot was a little further from the bullseye but I still managed to hit the target on my second try.  “Very good!” He exclaimed.  “It’s one thing to hit an object but it’s another to kill someone. If you end up in a situation where it’s you or them, don’t hesitate” he said sternly.  The thought of taking someone else’s life was daunting. I’m worried that if the time came that I won’t be able pull the trigger. I’ve never killed someone and hope that I never have to. Michele took the gun from me and turned it to the side showing me a clip that was sticking out. “This is the safety, it will stop the gun from accidentally going off. Only turn the safety off if you are in danger” he instructed and I nodded.  “Come on, let’s get going” he beckoned as he went back inside to get changed.  Michele was wearing his white shirt and black leather jacket with a pair of black jeans and shoes. His hair was neatly swept back and he has freshly shaped the stubble on his face. He smelt amazing from the cologne he had on. I had decided to wear some pale blue jeans, a white strappy top and a long grey cardigan. I had straightened my hair and left it to fall down past my shoulders. I don’t normally have it down but I know that I didn’t need it to be out of my face, I wasn’t doing anything active for the rest of the day.  We entered the bar and Mario was chatting up some blonde girl as he leant on the counter to show off his muscles. I looked at Michele and sniggered to myself. We approached them and Michele cleared his throat. “Would you stop harassing the customers Mario” he teased and the girl blushed.  “I’ll call you later darling” he flirted and she walked away giggling to herself.  “You know how to ruin a moment, don’t you boss?” He laughed and Michele rolled his eyes playfully.  “You’re suppose to be working not trying to hook up with every female you set your eyes on”  “What can I say, I’m just so approachable” he smirked. Michele chuckled and waved him away from the bar.  “Go and find your brother, he’s getting the guys ready to do an inspection on our businesses, he could probably do with a hand” Michele said. “Yes boss” he smiled. “See you soon” he said, flashing me a grin before leaving the bar.  “He’s like a child” Michele laughed. “Right, I have got the panic button up and running. Nico said he explained how and when to use it yesterday”. “Yeah, only press it if I’m in serious trouble; you, Gino, Nico, Mario and Ricco will be alerted through your phones and the alarm will go off at the house” I recited to him.  “Good, the CCTV has been tested and there is a hand gun under the till if you need it” he said as if it was normal to have guns lying around.  Michele showed me how work the till and where the price list was for all of the drinks that were available. He then showed me around the store cupboard and the cellar. Once he had finished teaching me the basics he received a phone call from one of his clients asking to have an emergency meeting about one of his clubs.  “I’ll be back in about an hour, if you need anything then just ring me” he said and then pressed his lips against mine.  “Okay” I replied and smiled at him as he walked out of the door.  Half an hour later, I was starting to get the hang of things and have served at least 20 customers. Most of them have been kind and easy to talk to but there have a been a few that had an intimidating sense to the way they dressed and presented themselves. However, I haven’t encountered any trouble as of yet.  I was scrolling through the new phone Michele had handed me in the car on the way here. I was setting it up and adding all of the numbers that Michele had written down on a piece of paper. When I plugged the charger in, the door opened which caught my attention. I slumped my shoulders and groaned. “What are you doing here?” I asked as Alexandra made her way over.  “I wanted to talk to you”  “About what?” I grumbled and leant my arms on the counter.  “I wanted to try and clear the air between us, now that we’re...” “I don’t have anything to say to you Alexandra. You are the reason that Sandra is dead along with Donte and whoever else you helped Tony and Ezio to get close to. Not only that, but as soon as I’m gone, you’ve worked your way back into Michele’s life. I don’t want anything to do with you!” I snapped and she lowered her brows with frustration.  “Michele has forgiven me so why can’t you?”. “Because I can see you for who you really are, a snake” I spat.  “You really think I wanted to betray Michele?!” She retaliated which annoyed me even more. “Well you have made betraying the Rossi’s a bit of a habit” “What do you mean by that?!” She said through her gritted teeth.  “You know exactly what I mean. Isabella would be turning in her grave to know a dirty little slut like you has managed to manipulate her son... again” I snarled.  I saw her breathing start to quicken and her fists were clenched. She was preparing to swing for me and I was ready for her. Just as I thought she was about to retaliate violently, she smiled and turned her back to me.  “I didn’t think it would take long for Michele to get bored of you” she commented as she started to walk away.  “Then again, I suppose Elena does have more class”.  I tried to contain my anger but her words were like a detonator. I exploded and jumped over the counter, charging towards her and throwing her to the floor by her hair. She rolled over onto her back and looked up at me in shock. I raised my knee and stomped on her stomach, winding her and causing her to groan and cough. When I raised my leg up a second time, she grabbed my ankle and twisted it, dropping down the the ground.  She rolled on top of me and began to punch at my face. I turned sideways so she could only hit my cheek. I threw my knee into her back and freed my arms from under her thighs. I gripped her throat and rolled her back over, getting a better angle. I stared at her as I squeezed hard, the desperation filled in her eyes as she clawed at my arms. Her face turned bright red before it started to drain and a bluish colour replaced it.  I heard Nico’s voice shouting at me, but I couldn’t make out what he was saying from the deafening rage pumping through my veins. He pulled at my shoulders and then removed my hands using my wrists. He then wrapped my arms across my body and restrained me as Alexandra coughed and wheezed for air.  “What the f**k are you doing?!” Nico yelled as I struggled against him.
