Chapter 6

—MICHELE— I stormed through the front door and made my way to the back room. Nico was serving behind the bar so he could keep an eye on the girls and serve at the same time. When I entered the back room, Amelia was sitting there with an ice pack on her face and Alex was hunched over on a separate table. They both turned their attention to me with a hint of fear in their eyes; they can tell that I’m pissed.  “This need to stop!” I growled with anger.  “I buy you a business and you jeopardise it by acting like a f*****g child!” I yelled, looking at Amelia.  “I didn’t ask her to come here! She came just to piss me off!” “I came to apologise!” Alex defended.  “Stop!” I shouted.  “If you’re going to f*****g work together then you are going to have to get over this pathetic feud!” “Work together? What are you on about?!” Amelia snapped. I looked at Alexandra who had a guilty look on her face.  “You didn’t tell her?” I asked and Amelia scowled at me. “I was about to, I tried apologising first but she wasn’t having any of it” Alexandra replied. “Tell me what?!” Amelia snapped. “Alexandra is going to be your accountant/assistant. She is going to sort the books, the stock, appointments and anything else you need” I explained. Amelia was silent for a moment.  “No way” she grunted.  “Amelia, you’re going to need help with this place. You can’t run it all on your own”  “That’s fine, anyone else other than her” she scoffed.  “Alex has done a good job in my office and has shown her skills in the administrative side of things” “Isn’t it bad enough she is living at the house? I don’t want a traitor being apart of my business!” she yelled.  “Tough! It’s already been decided and whether you like it or not, you’re both going to be working together. So get over the past or make things awkward. I don’t care what you do but the next time you have a dispute, I won’t be leaving a meeting to break it up!” I barked.  I turned around and headed back into the main room. I rubbed the back of my neck and sighed deeply before making my way over to Nico. He leant against the bar with a frustrated yet humorous look on his face.  “I need to get back to the house to sort out our rat problem. Can I leave them with you?” I asked. “No problem, they’ll be painting each other’s nails when I’m done with them” “Cheers fratello” I said and left the bar.  Marcelo was chained to the back wall in his cell. His face was all dirty and he had bruises all over his body from where Nico had ‘prodded’ him. He was topless and sweaty, still wearing his black trousers from two days ago. He raised his gaze and groaned.  “Boss, please let me go” he begged. I slammed the door behind me and took off my jacket.  “You’ve caused a lot of trouble Marcelo. We’ve lost a lot of our own, all because of your traitorous actions” I began as I slowly paced towards him. I unlocked the cell and dragged the metal chair to sit in the doorway.  “What was you hoping to achieve?” I asked.  “Nothing boss, I just wanted to get Ezio to trust me so I could gain important intel” he lied.  “By trying to come between me and Amelia?” I reminded him. He bowed in shame and shook his head. “I wasn’t trying to come between you, I was just...”  “Gaining Ezio’s trust” I mocked.  “Well, now is your chance to tell me everything that you have found out” I said, placing my elbows to my thighs and resting my chin on my palms.  “I couldn’t find out much. I know that Amelia’s dad has struck a deal with Ezio” he panicked. I stood up and grunted with frustration. “If you’re not going to tell me something I don’t know, then there is no point in keeping you alive” I threatened and pulled out my gun from the inside of my belt.  “No, no! Wait!” He exclaimed, rattling the chains with desperation.  “Your mum! I know who shot her!” He yelled and froze on the spot.  “What? I thought my dad killed the shooter” I said in a dull tone.  “That’s what Rickie wanted you to think”  “Rickie?!” I barked.  “Rickie ordered for your mother to be assassinated because of your father. He refused to kill someone, resulting in him becoming allies with the guy instead. This pissed Rickie off so he had your mother killed as a punishment. He said you were going to be next!” He explained. My heart was beating out of my chest. “Your dad lost his mind with grief and planned on attacking Rickie’s mansion to take revenge. However, someone got to your dad the day before the raid” he continued and I gritted my teeth.  “Who killed him?” I growled, “I don’t know”. I charged towards him and threw my fist against his cheek bone. Marcelo let out a loud roar of pain before I gripped his hair and pulled his head up towards me.  “Please, I don’t know who killed him!” He begged and I pressed the gun between his eyes and c****d it.  “I swear! But I know who killed your mother!” He screamed. I paused for a moment and narrowed my eyes.  “My mother?!”  “Matteo! Ezio’s brother!” He yelled in a panic. I pressed the gun further into his skull and then smacked him across the head, knocking him out cold. I let out a loud growl of anger before locking Marcelo’s cell and exiting the outhouse.  This whole time, Marcelo knew who was my mother’s killer and he didn’t tell me. It just proves who’s side he has been on this whole time. He can suffer in there a little longer whilst I avenge my mother’s death. I was furious and I needed to get my anger out safely.
