“We had a f*****g deal Allan, did you really think that I wouldn’t find out about your little agreement with Ezio?!” I yelled.
Allan was sitting across from me in my office. I arranged to have a meeting with him whilst Amelia was checking out her new bar. This way there was no chance of her coming back before Allan leaves because she will be too excited to look around the building. I know what she’s like and she is completely clueless. I needed to confront Allan on this contract agreement with Ezio because I was led to believe that his problems were sorted when we made our deal.
“What else was I suppose to do? I needed to pay off the debt to Rickie. If I didn’t then he would come after my family and take away the business!” He panicked.
“The business is safe because it has been signed over to me” I reminded him.
“And my family? Amelia?”
“As far as I know, they are fine because you told me that the money I had given you was to pay off the debt”
“Some of it” he admitted finally. I shook my head with disappointment and rubbed my temple.
“You should have told me exactly how bad the debt was” I grumbled. Allan just sat there with a guilty look on his face and stayed silent.
“Rickie wanted her before I had even met you Allan, she’s still here safe and sound isn’t she?” I growled at him.
“But for how long?!” He yelled gaining confidence and jumping up from his seat.
He was wearing a murky brown suit with a black tie and white shirt. He seems to have lost weight since we last met at his house which I could tell was due to stress. He had bags under his eyes from the lack of sleep and by the smell of his breath, he has been drowning himself in booze. I decided to ignore his sudden outburst and keep my cool.
“You’ve been given 14 million in total, but I need to know exactly how much is left. I will then agree to pay the outstanding amount of your debt on one condition” I warned. He raised his brow and sat back down.
“You and your wife move away and agree to start again” I said.
“Yes, of course!” He replied excitedly, clearly not understanding my proposal.
“Without Amelia”. His face dropped and he shuffled in his chair. I know that he thought that now she has found out about the trouble he was in, he could possibly rekindle their relationship but that’s not how it works.
“What do you mean?”
“You leave Amelia behind with me”. Allan rubbed his chin nervously and shook his head.
“You mean completely cut ties with her?” He asked.
“No contact whatsoever” I confirmed, wondering why it was so difficult since he’s disowned her once before.
“But if the debt is paid then he won’t be after me any more”. I sniggered at his naive assumption.
“She is now on Rickie’s radar, she has been since before I paid you a visit. He will continue to come after her until he gets what he wants. Rickie now sees her as the interest that has built on top of your debt” I explained. He gritted his teeth and sat back in defeat.
“And if I do this then you will keep her safe from him?” He pressured and I nodded confidently. He was silent for a minute as he thought about his options. Letting out a deep sigh, he nodded.
“Okay”
An hour has passed since my meeting with Allan. I’ve been typing up the agreement for him to read through and sign in two days time. The agreement included the exchange of 30 million for Allan’s transfer to a different country, the expenses of their move were included in the sum. In addition to his transfer, he was to completely cut Amelia from his life and agree not to contact her in anyway.
I was doing this for her safety and happiness. Her dad was a scheming little runt and she was better off without him. He destroys everything he touches and can’t stay out of debt. This way he gets to start again, I get Amelia and she gets a fresh start without the poisonous trail that her father leaves.
“Micky?” Alexandra called as she entered the room.
“Alex, what can I do for you?” I asked as I finished off the sentence I was typing.
She walked over in her skimpy black shorts and white tank top and sat down. I could see she had been crying which concerned me because it takes a lot for Alex to cry. I swivelled my chair so that I was directly facing her.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“I just had a chat with Danielle” she began, trying to fight back another wave of tears.
“I came clean about my mother and she didn’t take it very well” she explained.
“What do you mean?”
“She instantly went on the defensive, saying that I must have done something for her to abandon me like that. I tried to explain to her that things are different here compared to her life back home. She didn’t want to hear it, she just blamed me for Mag... my mum abandoning me” she whimpered. I let out a grunt of frustration. This is all I need right now.
“I’ll talk to her”. She looked up at me gratefully and wiped a tear that fell down her cheek.
“I just want her to understand what it was like for my dad to leave because he didn’t want me and my mum to be that ashamed to abandon me completely” she whined.
“You have to remember, she’s 16 years old. She is still young and she isn’t going to understand the world in the way we want her to. We had to learn from a young age just what the adult life was like, she hasn’t had to do that. I will talk to her and try to get her to see sense” I reassured her.
“Thank you Michele” she sniffed. I took her hand in mine gently and got her to look at me.
“It wasn’t your fault Alex. Your mum made her choice” I reassured her. She nodded and stood from her chair.
“Thanks Micky” she said and headed out of the room.
This is all getting too messy. Allan was supposed to agree on a sum of money in exchange for his daughter. That way she was kept safe from Rickie, I get to own another business and Allan was given the money to pay his debts (or so I thought). Now I’ve had to take it a step further and pay more money than I would have liked to begin with. Not only that but I had to persuade Amelia’s family to abandon her just like Alexandra’s parents did. I know she’s older than what Alex was and it’s not exactly the same situation but they are still leaving her behind. How am I going to tell her this.
