—AMELIA—
I slowly walked back to the bar on my own so I could have a moment to myself. Mario was keeping an eye on things whilst I went and got my phone. I had so much going on inside my head that I wanted to try and process everything that was going on.
I knew how much my dad owed from spying on Ezio at the club. Judging by Ezio’s reaction when Ray stated the amount, he didn’t realise just how deeply in debt my dad was. He also seemed quite frightened of Ray which was weird to watch considering how powerful Ezio is. I also know that Rickie is top dog and he controls everything. The fact that he wanted me so desperately scares me because I’ve never met him before and I don’t know what his intentions are. He is clearly after me because of my dad’s stupid mistake.
The thing that was bothering me more than anything else was the fact that Michele didn’t come clean about how much danger I am in because of this whole situation. He just acted like he was taking precautions instead of admitting that Rickie was a real threat to me. I didn’t say anything to him purely because I wanted to give him the opportunity to be honest with me. He failed and I’m now worrying about what else he’s trying to hide from me.
He has made my dad sign a contract to leave the country with my mum and have no further contact with me. I have every right to know what is going on and he avoided admitting it to me. If he had just told me that Rickie was after me and that being in contact with my dad put me at risk then I would have forgiven him for trying to sneak around behind my back. But instead he decided to try and hide the truth from me even though I already know about Rickie’s desire to have me; whether it is for leverage or his own personal reasons, this is my life and I am the only one who’s in control of it.
I got to the bar and walked straight over to Mario who was serving a customer his drink. When he put the money in the till, he turned to me and smiled. I flashed him a smirk and hung my jacket up on the peg by the entrance to the bar.
“Everything okay?” He asked me, noticing my dull expression.
“Yeah I’m fine, you can go and help your brother out now if you want”
“Are you sure?” He asked hesitantly and I nodded to him with a smile.
“I’ve got this” I replied.
Mario shrugged and tapped my shoulder before headed towards the door. I sighed deeply and leant against the bar with my back to the main room. I stared at the bottles, losing myself once again in my own head; thinking about the meeting at the club in more detail and how Michele reacted to Franco. I’m worried that his reckless behaviour is just going to get worse, putting everyone else in more s**t than we’re already in.
“Amelia?” A voice disturbed me from behind.
I jumped at the sound of the familiar voice and slowly turned my head. My blood ran cold and my hairs stood up on the back of my neck. Standing there with his brown leather jacket tightly covering his biceps and the familiar scar down the right side of his face was Ezio. I stepped back and slowly crept towards the panic button. However I stopped when he held his hands up to show me he wasn’t a threat.
“I’m not here to hurt you” he reassured me but I didn’t trust him. I hovered my hand above the button, ready to press it if he made any sudden movements.
“What the f**k are you doing here?!” I growled at him.
“I wanted to talk to you” he said calmly.
“I have nothing to say to you”
“Amelia, please I just want five minutes and if you’re done listening to me then I will go” he said.
Although I wanted to hear him out, he has done too much to me for me to even contemplate being alone with him for five minutes. That was enough time for him to take me and get far enough away from here so that no one could find us. I pushed my finger onto the button and stepped further away from him.
“I know what you’re planning Ezio” I warned him.
“I’m not planning anything, I’m just here to talk” he continued but I wasn’t buying it.
“Are you forgetting that I heard your whole conversation in the club? You’re planning on taking me to Rickie” I stated and he scrunched his face up before shaking it frantically.
“No, I’m not going to do that Amelia”
“You’re a f*****g liar!” I raised my voice and he moved closer to me.
“I’m not lying! I was going to in the beginning but I’m not going to now” he protested.
“Oh really? So what’s changed then?” I asked, noticing Nico’s SUV pull up outside.
“You changed it” he said, gaining my attention. I stood there with my mouth parted in shock.
“Wh...what are you talking about?” I asked.
Before he could respond, Nico burst through the door with Ricco, Mario and Gino by his side. They all pulled out their guns and aimed them at Ezio. The female customers in the bar let out screams and gasps before it fell completely silent. Ezio held up his hands and flashed me a look of betrayal.
“Are you alright Amelia?” Nico asked without removing his gaze from Ezio.
“I’m fine” I bluntly replied.
“What are you doing here Ezio?!” Ricco yelled.
“I’m not here to hurt or take anyone, I just wanted to have a private conversation with Amelia” he groaned and Nico chuckled mockingly.
“Because we’re going to believe that!” He said sarcastically.
“Mario search him, bind his hands and shove him in the back of the car. We will see what Michele has got to say about this” Nico instructed.
I felt kind of bad watching Ezio get tied up and taken prisoner. He was very careful and he didn’t come with anyone else and he wasn’t even armed. He came alone to talk to me and I threw it back in his face. I’ve got a feeling what he wanted to say was important but I didn’t give him the chance. When he left with the guys, Nico headed over to check if I was okay.
“Did he hurt you?” He panicked, scanning my body for any injuries.
“No, he didn’t touch me” I replied.
“Nico, he came on his own”. Nico narrowed his gaze in a questioning manner.
“Why would he do that if he was going to try and take me again?” I asked.
“Maybe he thought he could do it quietly”
“Unarmed?”. Nico shrugged and smiled at me.
“Who gives a f**k, we’ve finally got him and you’re now safe which is all that matters” Nico said already celebrating his victory. I was concerned that I might not have been in danger at all, that Ezio was about to tell me something important.
