CHAPTER FOURTEEN As they trekked around the neighborhood, Kate remained quiet. She didn’t want to give the baby any reason to stay awake. Jared stayed silent, too. By the time they reached the end of the block, Cassidy slept soundly in her stroller. That gave Kate hope they would figure out how to parent sooner rather than later. “Good call.” Jared kept his voice low. “She’s out.” “The question will be for how long.” A car drove passed them, and the driver who lived across the street waved. “I enjoy being outside like this.” He pushed the stroller. “I should take more walks.” Spring often brought rain showers, but the weather was lovely for getting outside.
