CHAPTER FIFTEEN Wednesday evening, Kate pulled into her driveway. Lights shone through the window. That meant Jared was there. A strange mix of apprehension and relief flowed through her. She parked the new four-door SUV crossover in front of the garage that housed her beloved silvery-blue BMW Boxster and turned off the engine. But she remained in the car. These past two and a half days without Jared had been horrible. Bedtime with Cassidy had only worsened since he’d left on Sunday. But knowing he would be here for at least a week made Kate nervous and uncertain. He’d been nothing but cooperative, trying to make this arrangement work, but she hated unpredictability. She hated not having control. And that was what she feared would happen with him here. Cassidy squealed. Kate glanced
