Chapter 19
Present Day
I stand up and brush the dirt off my butt. My heart feels like it's been snatched from my chest and stomped on by a herd of buffalo.
I hurry back to my apartment and get to the door just as Anna is leaving.
"Off to the library. Want to come?" She asks.
"Um...no. I think I'm just going to hang out here and study tonight. Thanks for the offer," I shrug.
"Is everything okay? Did you see Logan?"
I sigh. "No. He was already gone."
She gives me a sad smile. "Maybe it's for the best. Seeing him would just make things harder."
I nod in agreement. "Right..."
Sensing that I don't want to talk about it, Anna gives my arm a squeeze before walking away. I pick my bag up off the floor where I left it and drag myself to my bedroom.
